Hey, my name is Scott. TL;DR I’m a seasoned growth marketer with a proven track record of growing revenue in B2B and B2C verticals. Experienced with building revenue, go-to-market, marketing, and digital advertising strategies that drive real results, with 10 years of experience in marketing, growth strategy, and team leadership. Here’s the longer version… Ten years ago I had no idea what I wanted to do as a career and marketing kind of just fell in my lap. My first marketing job came at a school that I was referred to. Little did I know that I would spend the next three years teaching myself the fundamentals of marketing. Everything from Google ads and event marketing to branding and copywriting. This is also when I fell in love with Story Brand. This is a marketing approach developed by Donald Miller. That looks at the customer journey through the lens of story. The customer is the hero of their story, not the company. And when you can position yourself as the guide in their story and give them a plan (your product or service) towards success, then your brand story becomes clear and you can sell better/more. The school grew from about 500 students to 13,000 students while I was there. The next job I took moved me into the e-commerce world where I learned about merchandising, promotions, email marketing, and Amazon. Again, I took it upon myself to make strides by teaching myself ways to grow and make a true business impact. Even my boss once said “ Scott, I loved that you just did things. didn’t ask for permission…even sometimes breaking them…😅 but you got things done.” This is where I also dabbled into sales aswell. I’m really good at relationships, but sales is very humbling. Not for the faint of heart. I’m pretty good at it, but it doesn’t get me up in the morning…if you know what I mean. While I was there, the company grew revenue by 15% and I grew their Amazon revenue by 1,450%. Next, I moved onto the agency world. This was a challenging and exciting experience of working with multiple businesses across multiple industries. This challenged me a new ways as both a strategist and an executor. This is also where I began my long awaited journey in management. I’ve led many teams, but never in the workspace. I enjoy it and I have a knack for it. Helping people become a better version of themselves is a special type of reward. I now found myself in an executive position, leading a team and crafting strategies in the agency world — working closely with senior executives to reach their company goals; on time and under budget.
