As a young adult I began to realize that if more people were better able to influence their emotional state, & be happier more of the time, that many of the problems in the world would be solved. I began to obsess over the idea of how to help people learn that state of being/mindset is the most important thing, and then help them find the best resources to do that. What began to form was as an idea to UNITE all the resources for wellbeing, from free content, to products, services & events, to community & connection. This would make it easier, faster, & cheaper for people to find the perfect fit for them right now, and for businesses to connect with their ideal clients, the way Airbnb does it. For those who have an Airbnb listing, they know there's no marketing really, just some messages back & forth and then they book, but the hard part, the connection with someone looking for exactly what you have, is done through the platform. One of the main inspirations for starting UNITE was that when my father died of cancer when I was 15, my mom became super depressed, and even with a PhD in Psychology, money & connections to the best mainstream supports, she spent 5 years feeling really lost. She found an alternative therapy called The Journey and after a few sessions she felt like herself again & hasn't felt depressed since. This opened my eyes to other "alternative" wellness approaches that work for people, but many may not know about. I personally healed some cavities, and the dentist said it was impossible & he'd never seen that before. The other main reason is that in our 4 years of running community & wellbeing events full time in Vancouver, we HUSTLED to get the word out, & still many people would hear about an event after & say they didn't see anything about it. I began thinking that if Facebook would tell everyone who would love to come to our events, I'd happily give them a % (maybe a LOT) because marketing was a TON of work! We also featured hundreds of wellness vendors, speakers & performers, giving us a deep understanding and wealth of knowledge about what this community wants and how to be successful in this industry. The thing that they ALL told us they wanted, was more clients. (Our event goers told us that community connection was what they wanted most!) Previous to our technology platform we ran 111+ live events in Vancouver B.C. with $280k in revenue & 7000+ tickets sold! (2016-2020).
