I come from a business-minded family...one where individuals are encouraged to do something of their own. Hence, the itch to venture beyond a salaried employee’s realm was ingrained in me. The first initiative which I undertook during my undergrad days at IIT Kharagpur was called “NoteAd”. It was launched to help students cut down on their stationery expenses. Under NoteAd, I was able to sell notebooks at 40% of their retail price and make a profit at the same time. How? By turning the front cover of those books into advertisement billboards. Internship stints at Uber and Happay opened me up to the world of marketing and sales. I decided to leverage these learnings to conceptualize StartupTalky in 2014. It was a dream of mine to do something for the Indian startup ecosystem. And StartupTalky helped me realize the dream. For the uninformed, StartupTalky is a leading online platform that focuses on the theme of entrepreneurship and everything under it. How-to guides, blog posts, listicles...StartupTalky covers it all. We have one of the largest facebook communities (100K members), a website with over 1 million user per month. Currently I am working on a SaaS Idea in SEO Domain. If I were to attribute the success I’ve enjoyed over the six years to a particular quality, it’d be my analytical approach towards life. Rationale and logical thinking coupled with emotional bias (to a certain degree) can do wonders. And I say this from experience.
