1) Give before you ask.
2) Build relationships before you need anything.

Networking isn’t a transaction.
Build genuine, mutually beneficial relationships instead.

Not sure how to start nurturing your network? 
Try these steps:

1/ Refer business to them when you can.
2/ Schedule short, occasional catch-ups.
3/ Connect them with others who can help them.
4/ Challenge them to learn something new with you.
5/ Share articles, posts, or videos they’d find valuable.
6/ Congratulate them on personal or professional milestones.
7/ Offer your support and follow through with no strings attached.
8/ Send a quick message and (genuine) compliment to check in every few months.
9/ Leave thoughtful comments on their content (LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, etc.).

Or find a method that works for you and stick to it.
It’s not the tactic that matters; it’s the habit.

Go deep. Not wide.
Put in the effort to build relationships with people you really want to know.

Remember, you don’t have to contact everyone.
Set a small goal like connecting with 2 or 3 people each week.

Consistency compounds.
