An Evening of Generosity, Solidarity, and Purpose 📿 This past Saturday, we gathered at the Grand Pre-Ramadan Gala at the Waldorf Hilton, London, uniting in support of the children of Gaza. It was an evening that went beyond celebration—it was a powerful statement of compassion, responsibility, and action. The crisis has left countless lives shattered, with innocent children bearing the brunt of unimaginable hardship. Through this event, we stood together to amplify their voices and reaffirm our commitment to providing critical aid where it is needed most. The evening was enriched by the inspiring words of Dr Tehseen Qureshi, Leanne Mohamad and Mustafa Faruqi, reminding us of the impact we can create when we come together with purpose. Performances by Omar Esa, Na’eem Raza, Khalila Lister, Sajid Varda, Chris & Ben brought warmth and spirit to the night, reinforcing the message that through unity, we can bring real change. None of this would have been possible without the dedication of those who made the event a success. A special thank you to Nafila Khan and SimplePR for their incredible work in bringing this vision to life, to our speakers and performers for their contributions, and most importantly, to everyone who attended, donated, and supported this cause. In corporate partnerships, every day is a learning experience. I’ve had the privilege of meeting some of the most amazing and compassionate individuals—people who are not only driven by success but by a genuine commitment to creating positive change. Seeing this shared dedication reminds me why this work is so important and why collective action is the key to making a lasting impact. With Ramadan approaching, we have many exciting initiatives planned alongside our partners to make a positive impact in the lives of those in need. But beyond the work, this is also a deeply personal time for me—a time to reflect, reconnect, and draw closer to Allah. Last night, I had the privilege of attending Kestrl’s iftar at the Wahed office and I have to say—it was an evening packed with insightful discussions, great company, and a few eye-opening moments. Some interesting conversations raised by both the audience members as well as the panel with some really interesting points on the the evening for me being: 💰 Why is there skepticism among Muslims when it comes to investing or even supporting Muslim-owned brands? 📉 Why does so much of our Zakat get sent abroad, when there are people within our own communities who might be struggling? (A point Sadiq Dorasat made that really stuck with me.) It was refreshing to see these issues being openly discussed—because if we want to build real financial empowerment within our communities, these are exactly the conversations we need to be having. On top of that, I got to see a live demo of the ‘Boycott/Avoid’ feature in the Kestrl app—a really cool tool that helps people align their spending with their values. There’s so much exciting innovation happening in the Muslim fintech space, and I’m really looking forward to seeing what’s next—especially at this year’s Muslim Tech Fest!
