The FOMO is real. This is not an unhinged post, but it is an honest one. Marketers are drowning in data but somehow still starving for insights. Cookies are crumbling. SEO is dried up. LLMs are distorting brand narratives. Email is “dead” (again). Events are back (this I agree). AI-driven outbound is the new silver bullet until next week. Stop the noise. We need to measure what matters, invest in brand, keep CAC down, LTV up, differentiate, develop strategic narratives, find scale with AI, and drive efficient growth, all while proving ROI with insightful attribution, all while, really the goal of creating value for those who choose the brands we build and represent. Easy, right? Let’s be real. Marketing has a serious FOMO problem. Vendors sell a dream state. Thought leaders post charts proving it’s possible. Meanwhile CMOs and teams are expected to actually do it all. The same way Instagram set impossible beauty standards, LinkedIn and us, yes, us marketers are doing it to ourselves, making it seem like everyone has cracked the code to effortless, efficient growth, attribution, and AI-driven everything. Meanwhile, most of us are navigating the chaos in real-time, making smart bets, pivoting when needed, and keeping the engine chugging. How's your family btw? I’ve been in the rooms where the utopian AI-orchestrated, fully measured customer journey is pitched. The promise? Seamless, personalized, automated, and, of course, 100% reportable. And yet, every day, my inbox has another “answer”. Dizzy yet? I share this with empathy and a bit of jest because let’s be honest … and I’ll create space for emphasis here MARKETING IS A MARATHON MADE UP OF SPRINTS, NOT AN EASY BUTTON I’m proud of the team and work we’re doing at Vena, truly staying ahead of shifts, driving growth, and adapting in real time while balancing a culture of engagement, belonging, and high performance. Not perfectly but with focus and intention. If you’re leading a marketing team today, balancing ambition with reality, know this: you are not alone. It’s noisy out there, but not everything needs to be done right now to do good or great work. To the CMOs and marketing leaders building, adapting, and thriving through change, I see you. Heck, I am taking time to see me and those who show up with me every single day to lean in, learn, sometimes fail, and get back up and continue to push through the noise to get it done and get it done right. Let’s push forward, not try to do everything at once, but remain curious to learn while advocating for what's working and how you are moving the needle, while charting the path for what's next. Phew, I am in. And maybe spend a little more time outside, in real life, where the best ideas and connections actually happen. 🌱
