We all want a fair shake, but when we come together, the power of “one” becomes the strength of “all” – check this out! Plus UBI updates & “good” tech:

If you’re familiar with my work, you’ve likely heard me talk/post a lot about UBI – universal basic income. As we move closer to a “post labor economy” in this “age of agents”, UBI (or some propose UBC where the C stands for ‘compute’ or ‘care’) more & more are recognizing the need to figure this out at scale for humanity.

In the past few days there have been TWO major headlines in the UBI ‘space’ – one from my homeland, Cook County, Illinois (Chicagoland), the other from the Marshall Islands (pacific islands near Micronesia). In Cook County, a $7.5M budget for FY26 was just approved to deliver $500/mo checks to low- to moderate- income level households; Marshall Islands is using blockchain & their own crypto to deliver $800/yr ($200/quarter) which may sound small to many, but it represents an average one month salary for the citizens, as goes to every person, not household, so a household of 6 will receive an aggregate amount equivalent to a half years’ salary (from one person).

These are great steps in the right direction, though in my research & work I’ve discovered that a true UBI program must NOT be a governmental program, must NOT be need- or merit based, & likely should NOT by crypto per se, although blockchain as a technology can definitely help make UBI “work” (when many humans can’t).

If you’re unfamiliar with the 140+ UBI pilots’ results thusly, they almost always result in the population being MORE productive (NOT lazy), often reduce Mental Health issues dramatically (often by 95%+ – “funny” what happens when people don’t have to worry about money so much), strengthen community bonds (including against cultural divides) & actually help local economies improve.

So while we may all get our own single die to cast, all the 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s & 6s respectively can add up to millions, like they do in this amazing art (similar to pointillism) – literally.

Several other thing that helps reduce mental health issues from a tech perspective I love to highlight are AI Music & empathetic “seemingly conscious AI”. While Suno, Udio and generative AI platforms trained on the collective repository of popular music are entangled in massive lawsuits & hostile takeovers by the Big 3 music labels, platform Starchild Music has figured out an ethical, revolutionary, artist- & industry- friendly way for all fans to interact with music differently – it’s so fun to play with & is truly a “life hack for better mental health”. Big ups Bryan Fenchel, founding visionary behind this tool.

As we proceed full-speed ahead into an uncertain future, we should always question what’s real – perhaps we always should have. Some have seen the video of elon, or now me (here) demoing antigravity boots at Dubai Tech Forum – but these are patently fake.

I’d seen a viral post on IG of elon showing off this tech (which is not real at all yet - the closest thing is the Jetson ONE that I’ve posted about here previously) & although I knew intuitively that it wasn’t real, hundreds of people in the comments (some certainly may be bots though) seemed very convinced, which simply underscores the need for digital provenance.

At the same time, while it’s easy to look at generative video AI programs such as Sora, Veo, etc & flag the need to know what is real & what’s artificial online & on our social media feeds, an equally compelling argument can be made that for generations we haven’t always known what’s ‘real’ & what’s ‘not’ from television news & movies, to promised technologies that ultimately disappointed, narratives our employers or other corporates push via lobbies, etc., & far more.

But beyond this, any who’ve studied quantum sciences (physics, mechanics, biology, computing) have come across concepts such as The Holographic Reality theory, Simulation Theory, entanglement, dark- & grey-matter that make us question what’s real & what’s not at a fundamental level.

Some may begin to ask “does it even really matter?” what’s “real or not” – in other words, if we’ve been living in a simulation, what does that actually change for our day-to-day lives. But as we spend the majority of our time, do the majority of our work and even much of our communications now online, it seems like it should be a priority.

Imagine learning the the person you just had a zoom call with wasn’t real, or was their avatar. Many watch & are informed faceless YouTube channels unwittingly, where the basis for the information may simply be deceptive, a hallucination, etc. Scams & disinformation seem to be at an all time high due to the ease of augmenting others’ reality right now.

So while elon & I may not have antigravity boots yet, he & I are both working on anti-gravity (or synthetic gravity) systems. While I don’t know the validity or intention behind some of his contentious statements & actions of late, I do know that as a public figure myself, I need to monitor what others put out about me online in this new era.

Data provenance effects us all, as does good cyber hygiene. The small measures we all take in this regard really do add up.

We are all creators in our own ways, whether what we create is intentional or not. As we approach Thanksgiving, it’s often a time of reflection and gratitude, as we assess things in our lives, ourselves, and plan for the new year ahead.

As creators we create experiences and moods for others, we create reality with our expectations, we create opportunities as employers or employees, we create presentations, art, and oftentimes content.

For those of us who actively consider ourselves to be creators in the $250B “creator economy” set to double in valuation to half a trillion by 2027, we are always looking for ways to increase and amplify our messages, visibility, give back, and position ourselves as unique personas globally. It is my thesis that many more will become part of this industry in 2026 due to a changing workscape, available new tools removing barriers to entry, and a shift in the collective mindset.

Many of us would love to hear from, or experience, the divine. If this song is really at 963 Hz, we may have that chance* (check this out!).

This is Malakai Bayoh, singing Andrew Lloyd Weber’s “Pie Jesu” on Britain’s Got Talent (2023, season 16), winning the Golden Buzzer from judge Simon Cowell. The sound is genuinely “angelic”, but it’s not actually 963 Hz, as the internet has reported for years.

Musically/mathematically, he hits a High A-flat (Ab5), which is approximately 830.6 Hz, but the crowd, judges, & internet report “chills”, “goosebumps, & some even to have been “activated” (963 is said to activate pineal gland), & viral posts on all channels (erroneously) claim this to be “the God frequency”. So while this may not open our ears to The Creator scientifically, if it does something for your mood, physiology, energy levels or day, I encourage you to trust your experience over the perceptible logic.

However, music is changing at scale. My friend & partner Maejor Brandon Michael Green - a global music phenom for decades (3B+ streams, multiplatinum, Grammy nominated, “alladat”) has recently released his new music tuned to the “healing frequency” of 432 Hz (in contrast to the Recording Industry standard of 440 Hz which may have some negative implications), which is AMAZING. It’s truly a step in an amazing direction for humanity (I highly recommend checking it out anywhere music is streamed). Maejor is also a founder at Guinness World Records holder The The Frequency School (worthy of its own post). 

I recently introduced him & Bryan Fenchel, founder of Starchild Music, to discover synergies, and we quickly discovered that Starchild - a platform where any song can be transformed in any way the listener desires - can retune others’ music to 432 Hz (or other frequencies) as well as Maejor’s entire catalogue (conceptually, not all frequency emulator models are fully built yet).

When we realize that matter is held together by vibration (frequency), that our frequency determines our realities, that we literally transmit frequencies (vibes) & more, we start to realize how powerful something like this can be for humanity.

Music is being disrupted. Technology is disrupting the human experience (for better or worse is yet to be determined). “Music is life”. “Life is good”. We can yet fine-tune our experiences, surroundings, & vibration “for good” (best).

Finally, 432 & 963 are not mathematically related, though 4+3+2 = 9, while 963 are the derivatives and 9+6+3=18, which equals 9 & is 9 twice. Patterns in numbers & nature typically hold significant significance if we know how to “do the math”.

In this case of the amazing pitt Threat & his rapping person Doc it aired on Amateur Night at the Apollo Season 9, Episofe – before generative AI. I was a senior in high school & remember this one: so at least in my human experience & my reality it is, indeed “real”. But more & more we have no clue what we see online and on social is authentic & what isn’t. This is why I’ve been so bullish on promoting what VRFD is building, even though I’m also building a one-person virtual influencer “AI slop” agency as well.

How can we tell which of these is a real video of a real prehensile tailed porcupine, and which is AI generated?

In this case, the one on the left from Eagle Eye Farms in Wisconsin is a real video from their social (as watermarked), and the one on the right is one I generated using OpenAI Sora 2, prompting “extreme closeup of a prehensile tailed porcupine eating a piece of corn on the cob. Nose mouth and eyes are focal and corn is clearly visible as well. Eagle Eye Farm social medial style” (also as watermarked).

So if you see and trust the watermarks, know and trust me, and knew that one was artificial while the other biological, in this case, we can discern between the AI generated and the one that isn’t. But that’s a lot of variables.

As Sora, Veo, Runway get so good and keep getting better, it’s imperative to have checks and balances, and we will soon need to question literally anything we see online. “Trust but verify”.

Yet AI video will certainly dominate marketing, social media, advertising, personal branding, and entertainment. The recent Netflix / Warner Bros. Discovery deal is probably going to be a much bigger deal than most yet perceive, and the Universal Music Group / Udio “deal” and Suno / Warner Music Group “settlement” are so disruptive to the future of music that it can’t be overstated.

That’s a lot of ‘warner’ – the music and movie arms both formerly of Time Warner are now “competitors” who used to have to pay eachother royalties to use the name, but also many of us in the AI and music industries have also been “warners” for quite some time: warning of the potential risks and perils of moving too quickly with AI, warning of the imperative to mint all AI tokens on a chain or some type of immutable ledger that has gone ignored (finally Emad Mostaque is addressing it at Intelligent Internet), warning of AI psychosis, gross incompetence of user behavior and much more.

But here we are. The music and entertainment industries and the human experience interacting with media is about to fundamentally change. One thing we know Paramount Pictures wants to do, as well as others, is to make franchises, shows, media interactive.

I’ve been talking a lot here lately about Starchild Music which is the coolest, most fun, disruptive music platform allowing any of us to fully customize and remix any songs we want to – jumping genre, adding any number of vibe changing dynamics. I highly recommend checking them out at starchild.music; ther founder Bryan Fenchel has built something of immense value.

I also love sharing what VRFD is building, going beyond detection to help us human online be able to instinctively know what’s real and what’s not online.

Technological cause many problems, but technology has historically also been the way the we solve them as well.

Not all Holy Nights are Silent Nights 😂 – while some of us may love the incessant holiday music this time of year much more than others of us, we could all use a quick break from it, so here is an epic remix of Super Mario Bros. played at The Pope’s birthday rave for Archbishop Bernard Bober (happy 75th) by priest DJ Padre Guillherme (who I’ve posted about before here: https://lnkd.in/dDk9-P6J).

Hearing Super Mario Bros. music amped up like this conjured several thoughts in me, spanning game theory, nostalgia, blending genres (in this case video games and music) and remix/mashups, and how we can amplify good energies when we come together and are open to it.

Last time I posted about DJ Padre he was in Rio spinning at the epic Christ the Redeemer statue, and did some weekend shoutouts in that post (click through the link above if you are having a relaxing Sunday with time on your hands, it’s a fun one), so I’m inspired to do a few more here today.

First, the way we listen to and engage with music is changing in real time – Bryan Fenchel just launched his disruptive platform, Starchild Music, where listeners can change genre, vibes, tempo, and effectively make any songs there (I have one: ‘(I Just Made) A Mill’ there). If you don’t already know Rina (Plapler) Katz, she does remote energy healing work that is nothing short of miraculous. Anyone with ailments, disease, crippling stress should defintely reach out to her.

Joey Catanzaro is one of the most genuine, helpful, honest and kind people I’ve met in a while, and helps enterprise businesses understand, adopt, and leverage enterprise AI tools that has actual tangible ROI in ways most companies are seeing for. He is one of the best AI consultants I’ve ever met, and I highly recommend him.

Jan Percival has made it her life’s work to bring joy to organizations as “joy-as-a-service” which turns out to be just as disruptive, impactful and profitable as adopting the right AI strategy. Her Journey to Joyhouse is a true growth-hack for businesses.

Jan was previously an executive at Accenture, and Joey was also there previously – both made billion dollar impacts through their work there, and have brought that expertise into their new ventures.

Speaking of joy, Saj Shah, cofounder at Momentus Technologies Ltd has developed a game called Glide that helps bring joy, focus, clarity and increases productivity as well. A former lawyer, pharmacist, and head of digital transformation at one of the biggest pharmaceutical companies in the world - his pedigree has also helped set him up for success helping set people and businesses up for success just like the others above.

So there you have it – some good cheer, tidings of joy, reprieve from traditional holiday music, and networking. I’ll keep it going in the comments. Cheers!

We lost a legend 😢 Rest In Power Jimmy Cliff 🙏  the impact you made changed the world.

Cliff passed away at 81 years young after a career where he discovered Bob Marley, put reggae music on the global stage with his hits “The Harder They Come”, “I Can See Clearly”, “Many Rivers to Cross”, “You Can Get It If You Really Want” and starring role in the feature film “The Harder They Come”, and made impact that has touched countless lives, reaching all corners of the globe.

Cliff never stopped writing and performing both his classic catalogue but also new material, and had been warning of the perils technology could present as early as the 1970s with “Synthetic World” all the way through 2021 with his single “Human Touch”, although he wasn’t opposed to technology either – in 2002 he was a pioneer in using the internet to distribute his music, offering “Fantastic Plastic People” for free via P2P (peer to peer) software to bypass record labels.

I got to see Jimmy perform live at Riot Fest in 2015, and have also seen almost all of Bob Marley’s kids (and some grandkids) perform live too, because of the foundation Mr. Cliff laid down. As a huge fan of reggae music, as well as music in general:

We just got new models from OpenAI, Google, Perplexity, Anthropic and Mistral AI. Is this reason for us to celebrate? Also - what is happening in the AI vs. Music 'space' is truly "something".

As we prepare for the first slow week of the end of the year, and all tune-in to gratitude and the pure emotion of Thanksgiving, let's not forget the REAL thing we all have to be thankful for: EACH OTHER. Humans. Humanity. Our brothers and sisters. Our friends and collegues. Our neighbors (yes, even the ones who don't agree with us).

Technology should be a tool we use for our collective betterment. I love the phrase "we should love people and use tools, not the other way around".

There will always be a new model, a new tool that promises or threatens to disrupt, new possible ways to do things. With open minds, open hearts, a beginners' mindset and the attitude of gratitude, all of our best days may yet be ahead of us.

I hope you enjoy this issue of Tech For Good, the 37th yet. It's been a great year for this publication, and we're on track to end this first year at around a quarter million subscribers - I'm definitely thankful for that, and YOU. If you love it, consider telling some friends. If you don't, please tell me what would make it better. We can’t all be this good. This is a real video (these days we need to clarify) of a young Karen Carpenter showing why Playboy ranked her as a world’s best drummer at 18, dispite being known for her singer as a multi-Grammy winning singer with multiple global Top 20 hits in her catalog.

Being recognized as truly worldclass with the reciepts, recognition & riches to back it in one capacity is rare, real & what most dream of, work toward, yet don’t think is possible – but to achieve that for multiple talents such as Karen as both a vocalist & drummer is highly uncommon. Yet the type of person who can establish themselves as a proven great at something has far greater chances of proving it at something else.

Also, greatness begets greatness, & greats usually spend time with other greats. The Carpenters were called that because Karen’s bandmates were her family (primarily brother). Who we surround ourselves with matters deeply & having people in our lives who support us & push us to be better is imperative for those of us aspiring to this level of greatness.

So while we can’t all “be the best in the world”, let alone at multiple things, not only should we obviously all try to be, but AI really can give many of us unfair competitive advantages.

Also, the world is a huge place. While Karen Carpenter may have been rated a Top Drummer on someone’s list & had millions of fans worldwide, there are still billions who’ve never heard her or of her, & thousands of other “best drummers” & “best singer/songwriters” in the world that billions haven’t heard of either; so it’s really all about being the best we can be & shining in the circles & on the stages we find ourselves in/on.

These days we can use Sora, Veo, Runway to become best video content creators & storytellers. Soon we’ll be able to see videos of anyone – ourselves included – “doing things” we hadn’t really (like playing drums incredibly well while singing) & our collective histories will begin to be rewritten as we see videos of old-time legends performing new-school hits, etc., but it really is imperative that we do know & remember what our real history is, our real pasts are, what things really happened in real life…

We are speeding into a very different new reality & it doesn’t seem as though nearly enough people are preparing for or understanding this yet, which is why myself & quite a few others are perpetually beating the drum about all of this (pun intended). The way we can best prepare is to keep these conversations going publically, so please, please please feel more than welcome to leave thoughts, comments, concerns in the comments below.

This video almost seems “fake” (generated) in this post-Sora 2 era, but it’s quite real. This man is (was; RIP) Stan Lemkuil, a Guiness Word Record holder for being the World’s Loudest Man (125 decibels) as well as a master of his craft as a human sound effect generator with 300+ sounds as well as 100+ distinct voices. He was famous before passing away in 2013, so he doesn’t need any further highlights (though his talents live on, & are so cool I couldn’t help sharing here – especially in light of what I’m building at Babies Beatboxing).

Music was just disrupted fundamentally, & NOT by generative AI. For those of us who love music & for whom it’s a big part of our lives – TUNE IN TO THIS. It’s a big deal:

This video doesn’t have much if anything to do with the tech or innovation, but it’s a cool representation of the solid state of music – a human expert, in this case legend Nathan East, masters their instrument (he’s a phenomenal bassist) makes music on instruments (tools) after both self learning & learning from others (training), recording it, & releasing it (in this case it was Mr. East’s one-take, zero-repetition “alive” bassline than helped Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” hit such an auditory sweet spot).

But if much of that like tools, training, recording, human-in-the-loop remind us of generative AI which has nearly doubled the amount of songs in existence now of all time in the human record, there’s still one common characteristic: IT’S STATIC.

We hear this amazing baseline with the great record it accompanies, & perhaps some worldclassremixes of it by DJs, covers, etc. BUT IT’S STATIC.

But the future?

The future is customizable. We own it. And thanks to visionary musician & technologist Bryan Fenchel of Starchild Music, music is becoming INTERACTIVE & highly customizable.

I have never shared one of my own posts (I’ve actually never shared any post). I also rarely ever go live. I also never start posts with the word “I” (or “you”) in first three lines of post (at least for years on this one).

So this is highly anomalous.

Frankly (fast-forward this diatribe if you want) years ago I used to do many videos of myself here, but stopped when I realized that I didn’t watch others’, and thusly felt it wasn’t fair since not reciprocated to ask others for their time to watch me. I started posted viral videos instead, with my own messages, perspectives, insights – which grew me a following over a half-million amazing professionals with hundreds of millions of impressions, numerous ideal clients, and more.

Recently I’ve switched up my content to be many of my own AI generated videos of or by me (and my generations), some virals videos still, and my LinkedIn newsletter Tech For Good (thanks to all 220K subscribers and growing!), as I’ve been more focused launching LovingIs AI, scaling my “viral virtual influencer agency-of-one” – Babies Beatboxing that I intend to build-in-public to be a first one-person $100M agency, and building in the music-space with WE J - Where Everyone's Jamming (our AI band The J’s just released our freshman album: ‘We Are’).

But then I met Bryan Fenchel, founder and genius behind Starchild Music (see my live demos of it in the video below), and as a music lover (also singer/songwriter, frontman, producer, former recital and touring musician; so not “just” an AI prompter) – I had to carve out time to play, assess, now advise, and boldly share his tool, which I genuinely believe is THE FUTURE OF MUSIC. Period.

Not generative AI, Bryan has created a fully customizable and immersive way for ways to take their own or favorite songs and manipulate them in numerous ways to “make them their own”. All stems have provenance, artists can monetize their music along their fans (revolutionary) via interactive remixes, contests and more. As UMG eats Udio and the world watches what happens with Suno and others (tl/dr the music industry is effectively commandeering the leading generative AI music platforms), this looks to be THE disruption that can stick and make an impact.
