The truth is, I've spent the first four months of this year in a bit of a LinkedIn turmoil - despite strategy and content being my job 👀✨👋

Not because of a lack of ideas.

Instead, an abundance of opinions. 

An analysis paralysis of not wanting to post the "wrong" thing and end up in someone's "things that annoy me about LinkedIn round up".

But here's the truth, for those who need it:

It's not your problem that they're tired of thought pieces and top tips in their homepage, and want more *authenticity*.

It's not your job to stop posting selfies, because they don't think they're relevant anymore.

And it's not your role to minimise your opinions and opportunities, because 300 people have already commented on XYZ's campaign and they're bored it's taken over their homepage.

It's your right to keep doing you - fearlessly, audaciously, and with your whole chest. 

It's our job as a community to empower one another - with pride and an open mind.

Food for thought, before the next complainer piece drops on my homepage.

How do you manage and engage a community of one MILLION plus? 👀✨👋

Yesterday, Pretty Little Marketer members found out as Carolina joined us to talk all things practical community building at Flo Health Inc. 🤭💓

Spoiler: it was awesome. 

And because I love ya, here's a peek at some of my favourite takeaways:

→ Building a community that engages back takes TIME. Be a continuous giver, don't sweat the numbers, and keep showing up.

→ Leveraging other brand and individual's comment sections with a comment relevant to the conversation, or something a little out there and cheeky is a great way to take your brand from YOUR space and make yourself known elsewhere.

→ How you speak to your community does and should differ per platform, and per interaction - you need multiple "tones of voices", and your tone will change depending on the purpose of the engagement.

→ Community management isn't a fluffy admin task, it's a data goldmine that allows you to build a real-time picture of your audience, who they are and what they want

→ Don't let a like-less comment turn you off. Someone sees you. Someone remembers you. And someone will love you for it.

→ Community management should be a daily task in every social media team's calendar, and you can make it easy by dedicating time to it in your diary.

→ Social listening is your best friend. Spend time in relevant spaces, and turn on post notifications for the right people to make finding comment leveraging opportunities easy.
