As a Sr. Ops Manager (and up) have you ever felt like you can get more through your warehouse in terms of production and profitability, but for whatever reason it just hasn't happened yet? I know I certainly did. At the time I was a manager over at FedEx Ground and we were dealing with the usual issues. Bottlenecks, break downs in communication...the kind of stuff you see literally everyday in a warehouse. And while I recognized that those were holding me back from getting more done, what I didn't know was how to deal with it in a way that didn't involve me spending a boatload of cash in technology, equipment or hiring a ton of people to fix the problem. So instead, I just decided to “push” through it and hope that I could make it work. Until one day I ended up being a loader because one called out and I realized right then and there that I needed to make some changes. And not huge expensive changes like hiring more people or bringing in more equipment / technology or anything like that (because I didn't have the budget for that), but things that I could start working on right now to get the warehouse to where I wanted it to be.
