The girl below is 8 years old in 2003, sitting at a school computer probably playing some dinosaur educational game she doesn't care about.

The woman next to her is 30, sitting in Dubai running a business she built from scratch with the boy she'll meet in four years.

And if I could go back and talk to that little girl, here's what I'd tell her:

Next year, you're going to compete in your first national gym competition and you're going to be terrified, but in five years, you'll represent England and it will change the way you see yourself forever, not because of the medal, but because you'll learn that you're capable of more than you think.

In 2007, you're going to meet a boy called Freddie. You won't get together until you're 17, but he's going to become your best friend, your business partner, and in 2026, your husband, and the life you build together will be nothing like what you imagined but so much better than anything you could have planned.

You're going to feel suffocated in jobs that don't let you be creative. You're going to doubt yourself more times than you can count, and in 2022, you're going to experience something that flips your entire world upside down, a car accident that makes you realise life is too short to play small.

You'll quit your job, sell everything, move to Dubai with Freddie and a fox red Labrador named Olsen. You'll build a business that helps hundreds of people reach millions, and some days it will feel impossible, but you'll do it anyway.

You're going to miss home, your friends, your family, the cold English rain, but you'll also create a life that 8 year old you would be so proud of.

The world is going to change in ways you can't imagine. Social media will become how people build entire careers, AI will write content, and trust will become the most valuable currency in business, and you'll help people navigate all of it.

So here's what I really need you to know: 

Don't be afraid of being different, don't shrink yourself to make other people comfortable, and don't wait for permission to build the life you actually want.

In 6 months, I'll be getting married in England.

And I'm planning it all from Dubai whilst growing our business and making some exciting plans for our future. 

Which sounds absolutely insane when I say it out loud.

It's been one of the most interesting exercises in trust I've ever experienced, both in terms of trusting the process and trusting that everything will come together even when you can't physically see it happening.

We put a deposit down on our venue without ever stepping foot in it, which gave Freddie a minor heart attack, but after one video call with the venue manager walking us through every room and answering all our questions, it felt like we'd already been there.

That's the power of video and conversation, it builds trust faster than anything else, and it's exactly why podcast guesting works so well for founders who want to connect with their ideal clients.

People don't need to meet you in person to trust you, they just need to see and hear you being real, explaining how you think, showing them you're not just another faceless brand trying to take their money.

Meanwhile, I'm juggling seating charts and supplier emails while also helping our clients reach thousands of people every week, and sometimes I laugh at how we've managed to take on planning a wedding, living abroad and scaling a business at the same time, but that's just how we operate apparently.

Here's 5 cringe-worthy mistakes that's ruining your LinkedIn posts. 
 
1/ Using AI without personalisation. 
 
We shouldn’t be scared of AI (it’ll be the future), but people tend to abuse it and that’s pure laziness and inauthenticity. 
 
2/ Selling products without a story. 
 
It's important to sell in a way that will resonate with your audience. 
Use this framework; start with a problem, tease a dream outcome, offer a solution. 
 
3/ Creating self-centred posts. 
 
This applies to people who post content that is all about themselves to fuel their ego. 
Tip: Start with ‘I’ and end with ‘you’. 
 
4/ Writing chunks of text with no breathing room. 
 
No one wants to read a novel on LinkedIn. 
Top tip: Add white space to allow your text to breathe. 
 
5/ Over complicating posts with jargon. 
 
You need to keep it simple and write to meet the level of your ideal client. 
 
One way to improve the message you're trying to deliver is by using a story driven format. 
 
→ Add context to your posts. 
→ Set the scene, paint a picture. 
→ Add figures, a date, juxtaposition. 
→ Include positive and negative moments. 
 
The next time you sit down to create a post, remember: 
 
You're not going to get your message across with lengthy sentences, complicated jargon, and half-baked posts. 
 
There's only one way to create impactful content: 
 
Resonate with your audience.

I was on a program call with one of our clients last week and she said something that stopped me in my tracks:

“I just feel so stupid talking about my story and I'm worried no one will care. It’s embarrassing.”

I laughed... not at her, but because I’ve been there. Every founder has.

I told her about the time I cried on my very first podcast interview because I was so nervous I forgot how to speak.

About sitting in meetings nodding along to acronyms I didn’t understand.

About wasting money on the wrong software.

About the first LinkedIn post I ever wrote… that got 2 likes.

About the newsletter I sent with a missing link to thousands of people 😩

Every single one of those moments felt humiliating at the time. But now? They’re the reason I’m confident. They’re the proof I was in motion.

I said to her... and I’ll say it to you:

👉 Embarrassment is the fee you pay to grow.

If you’re not willing to risk looking silly, you’ll never get good enough to stand out.

And the founders who go furthest are NOT the smartest or most qualified. 

They’re the ones willing to look stupid before they look successful.

Here’s what I reminded her (and myself):

✨ Being bad is step one to being brilliant.
✨ People aren’t watching as closely as you think.
✨ Mistakes = momentum.
✨ Confidence is built after action, not before.

So go on... Post the thing, pitch the show, send the email.

Sometimes, the best way to CONNECT is to loosen up and show a little personality.

This was one of the most EMBARRASSING moments of my career...😬

And it happened on my very first podcast.

I was so nervous I could barely breathe.

Halfway through the first question, I started crying.

I completely lost my train of thought, rambled nonsense, and walked away thinking:

👉 “I’m never doing that again”

And for a long time… I didn’t.

Because I believed the lie SO many of us tell ourselves:

That you have to be perfect before you start.

That you need to have the right story, the perfect delivery, the flawless pitch before anyone will take you seriously.

But that’s not how business works.

And it’s definitely not how podcast guesting works.

Fast forward to now ...we run a company built on podcast guesting.

But the secret is… I don’t do the guesting anymore.

Freddie does. Because that’s his strength - hosting conversations, sharing stories, building relationships.

My strength is in building the systems behind the scenes that turn those conversations into clients.

That’s the beauty of entrepreneurship: you don’t need to do everything. You need to know your strengths and double down on them.

Here's what I've learned:

✅  You don’t need to be perfect to start. The first version will always be messy. Do it anyway.

✅  Failure is data. That “disaster” podcast taught us everything we needed to improve.

✅  Play to your strengths. Together, Freddie and I stay in our lanes and trust each other to own them.

So if you’re holding back because you’re scared you’ll mess it up… here’s the truth: you probably will. And that’s exactly how you’ll get good.

No one ever talks about THIS part 😅

And honestly… it’s the part that nearly broke me 😨

Because while Freddie is on stages, podcasts and Zoom calls building our brand, I’m the one behind the scenes trying to make the entire machine run.

👉 And this year, that machine got a LOT bigger.

Bigger clients. More deliverables. Higher stakes.

And the systems that once worked? Suddenly… they didn’t.

Here’s what that looked like in reality:

- Rebuilding workflows that collapsed as we scaled
- Replying to 100+ DMs and emails a week 
- Re writing onboarding processes 
- Coordinating podcast bookings, guest prep, media packs and follow ups
- And learning, painfully, that being “busy” isn’t the same as being effective

There were weeks I questioned everything.

Weeks where I wondered if I was even cut out for this.

But I also learned that this (the unglamorous, messy, operational work) is where a business becomes a business.

Because this backend is why last week’s three podcast guest appearances by Freddie will turn into revenue.

It’s why we’re booking sales calls from podcast guesting appearances that happened months ago.

And it’s why our clients feel the difference when they work with us.

3 lessons from the back end:

→ Growth breaks things. And that’s a good sign. Every broken process is proof you’re levelling up.

→ Clarity is everything. Most chaos is solved by making decisions faster and communicating better.

→ Invisible work = visible results. The podcasts, the clients, the revenue.. none of it happens without the engine underneath.

It’s not the sexiest part of the business.
But it’s the part I’m most proud of.
