I came across this photo from college today and had to share a few thoughts.

Nearly 10 years later, I still catch myself in the same posture—glued to a computer for 70% of my work. Scary, right? 🤣

Back then, though, I was locked in. Focus didn’t always come easy for me (still doesn’t), but in college I had a clear goal—and that clarity pushed me forward.

Funny thing is, I almost skipped college. 

I loved volunteering at YWAM in Kona, and the thought of student debt didn’t sit well. But once I dove into business and marketing, I realized it could amplify my creativity. To my surprise, I started earning top grades.

A lot of that came from professors at Cornerstone University who saw my strengths and weaknesses and helped me sharpen both.

The big takeaway? Be open to new paths, take the leap, let others guide you—but remember, it’s on you to put in the time.

During that season, I launched my first LLC. Mostly photography, some design, helping friends and family. My “dream” at the time? Just making enough to cover rent and gas after graduation—about $9,600 a year.

Wild to look back now.

Our Starbucks meeting looked a little different today. Super grateful Jasmine jumps into the business with me when she has the time. Mom of two littles, artist, and always supporting me. 

Today, we celebrated a client expanding their partnership and investment. And a new client that packs a big brand name. 

Thankful that the hard work continues to drive results and energy. 

I am surrounded by incredible business people that allow me on their buses and it means the world. 🌎

🎉 Congrats to the launch of our client's new website, Bryte Light. 

We have soft launched the website in less than two months time. While we have lots of changes already in the works the goal was a refreshed website that sets them apart in a growing space.

This week, I was headhunted for a position offering a compensation range of $180,000 with flexibility. 

It may sound appealing, but truth be told, it feels daunting to me. 

Past experiences have exposed me to lucrative salaries, equity, and bonuses, yet the allure of these perks isn't as strong as it once was.

Transitioning back into a traditional organization wouldn't pose a challenge for me. 

However, the current endeavor we are nurturing at Chasing Creative holds more value to me now than ever before, even surpassing the allure of financial incentives. 

With a dedicated team of 4-5 individuals and a growing client base investing in our vision at Chasing Creative, the focus remains on our collective goals.

In the midst of tempting opportunities, staying true to your aspirations is crucial.

It’s wild how much has changed… but what hasn’t changed is the way we educate, show up for clients, and have fun doing it.

Yes—we know when to flip the professional switch.

But our best work often comes from leaning into the things that inspire us: travel, relationships, and a bit of humor.

Our clients appreciate that. Because everyone’s working hard—and a little FUN goes a long way.

We’ve also seriously leveled up this past year. Our gear, editing, and project scopes are dialed. But we’re still doing it at a fraction of what others charge—without cutting corners.

One of our first clients. And he will tell you I’m hard headed at times. Even today he was coaching me on a shot. I reluctantly followed direction and guess what? Your boy looked like Tiger on that drive. 🤣

That said, thankful to get quality time to chat about work (over three hours in meetings yesterday with Tim) and today on the course.

Cleaning the house, coffee run, visiting my local flower shop, and putting together arrangements was how I used my free time today. 

Fresh flowers is how I want my girls to remember their home years from now.

The process and art of curating helps my busy mind. 

Work has been my passion this year but finding things totally opposite —non achievement related is key to balance. 

Growth is the result of self-care. I didn’t plan to post about this—it wasn’t the goal. But I think it’s a good reminder to people who appreciate the hustle to also know that finding your flowers is a path to peace in your life.

Missed a ~$100K Video Project — Thought I Had It…

A couple weeks ago I scoped out a multi-day shoot for a SaaS brand. Full action plan, detailed budgets, locations, crews—the works.

We had several great meetings where I walked them through everything live. They loved it. But I don’t get excited anymore until contracts are signed and retainers land.

A week later the email came: “We love your ideas, but we’re going with another vendor.” 

Not shocked, but yeah—surprised. I was already picturing how to bring in key partners and make it happen.

Here’s the flip side: within two weeks we closed an even bigger deal with an existing client. A good reminder that nurturing current relationships pays off more than chasing every shiny opportunity.

Would I have liked both?

Of course. But business doesn’t work that way. Instead, I’m taking the energy from this as fuel—continuing to aim higher and build systems that support real growth.
