Hello, my name is Matt Gjertsen. I have spent the last 15 years teaching people how to fly planes, complete triathlons, and build rocket ships. Today, I run Better Every Day Studios, a company devoted to helping develop great engineers into great managers at aerospace and technology companies. We do this through interactive workshops that train the three key pillars of leadership: building trust, giving feedback, and setting goals. I started my professional career as an Air Force Instructor Pilot where I got to see leadership and learning take place in the highest stakes situations. After leaving the military, I took those experiences to SpaceX where I led the Training and Development team for four and a half years. My team was responsible for the onboarding, training, and development of the entire seven and a half thousand person workforce as we worked tirelessly to take humanity to Mars. Since leaving SpaceX, I have gotten to work with organizations of all shapes and sizes, from a globally scaling software company solving the challenge of food delivery infrastructure to an 80 person non-profit bringing financial resources to industry thought leaders so they can solve the biggest problems facing the world. I also host and write the Leadership Launchpad podcast and newsletter. Each week, subscribers get insights both from my time training leaders as well as experts from around the world.
