I love data. I love writing. I love writing about data. So I feel incredibly lucky to be a Developer Advocate in the data science space. Anyone who's followed me for at least a bit of time knows that it's been a winding road to get here. I've also been a Financial Analyst, Data Analyst and Data Scientist, and every step along the way has added onto the last to culminate in where I am today in DevRel. But the single common thread between all of these steps? Putting myself out there on LinkedIn. I first started writing on LinkedIn in 2022, and along the way--through a rediscovery of my childhood love for writing and also a stubborn commitment to the arbitrary goal of 100k followers--built a community that encourages me to show up as my authentic self everyday. All the opportunities I've been lucky enough to receive I owe to this community.

If you caught me liking one of my own LinkedIn posts You absolutely saw that right. It can be really rough putting yourself out there on LinkedIn. So if you're not going to be your own biggest cheerleader, who is??
When I broke into data analytics, I completely fumbled the technical interview. I remember that moment 4 years ago like it was yesterday: “What is the difference between an inner join and a left join of two tables?” my interviewer asked. I blurted out something about combining rows, not columns 😅 I remember that moment because I wouldn’t be where I am today had the hiring manager not taken a chance on the candidate who wasn’t the most qualified on paper. Hiring managers like these believe in investing in their team rather than gatekeeping and expecting new joiners to come fully qualified already. They empower their employees by providing them the resources and tools they need to learn by doing on the job. One tool I recommend to all teams that believe in this learn-by-doing approach is Scribe. Scribe is an automated documentation tool that allows teams to share step-by-step guides by simply launching the web extension, capturing a process once as you do it, and sharing the link to the guide complete with screenshots and text instructions. Set your team up for success without cumbersome meetings and onboarding manuals using Scribe (link to try it out for free in my comments ↓) Because companies should hire for potential not experience. And then 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘦𝘴𝘵 in that potential. ♻️ Reshare if you agree! #ad #ScribePartner
I bet you didn’t know about these LinkedIn tricks I’m showing you exactly how to use them so your profile stands out to recruiters, using Scribe! Scribe is the best way to create walk-throughs of any process step-by-step to show exactly where to click on the screen, and you can get mine using the link in my comments ↓ #ad #ScribePartner
Sometimes you have to get creative to land a job in this job market 🤷🏻♀️ Would you ever try this??
My work day essentials as a WFH entrepreneur: I’ve been a remote worker since 2020, and it’s taken me 5 years to figure out the setup that maximizes productivity and minimizes distractions for me. 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿 ↳ I’ve tried every method out there, and the Pomodoro technique is the only way I can achieve deep focus! 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗮𝗱 ↳ Allows me to reach my daily 10k steps even when I’m at my desk all day 𝗗𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 ↳ More screens more productivity right? 😅 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗰 𝗰𝗮𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 ↳ I save coffee for the mornings, and if I really need a pick-me-up in the afternoon I opt for green tea 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝘆𝗱𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 ↳ I was dealing with brain fog and fatigue during my days until I increased my hydration throughout the day To my surprise, the essential thing that made the biggest difference in my work days was staying hydrated. The easiest way I found to consistently drink enough water was to find a unit of measurement I can easily keep track of. I found drinking 3 Stanley tumblers of water a day–one in the morning, afternoon and evening for a total of 90 oz–was most sustainable for me! I audited my income as a LinkedIn content creator and I was shocked. Should I make a video on how to get started with monetizing your LinkedIn next? 🤔 P.S. Grab my Creator Revenue Tracker template using the link in my comments ↓
If you’re currently job searching and you feel like your mind is split in a million different directions at all times You’re not alone. You’re dealing with rejections You’re following up with recruiters You’re DMing strangers for coffee chats You’re juggling different versions of your resume I’ve been there, I used to think if you don’t go insane during a job search, you weren’t doing it right. But these days I’m a firm believer that prioritizing your mental health in a job search is not only necessary. It gives you an advantage because it allows you to give your whole self to the process. And it all starts with using the right tools to job search smarter, not harder. Teal is the only job search tool I trust to automate the resume optimization process so that I can always put my best foot forward for all my applications. 3 optimizations you can get started with by leveraging Teal: ✅ Get insights on where your resume can be improved on with Analysis Mode ✅ Identify high-impact skills to be highlighted for a particular job with Matching Mode ✅ Use the AI Resume Builder to help craft impact-oriented bullets incorporating those skills Teal helps me manage all the moving parts of resume optimization so that I can focus on the bajillion other parts of a job search. Aka Teal keeps me sane in an otherwise insanity-inducing process. Try out all of the features in Teal+ like the AI Resume Builder for yourself here 👉 creatormatch.co/teal-ml-3

4 years ago, I realized the career field I thought I was going to stay in forever was not going as planned at all. I hated my job, I was still living with my parents, I was about to get off of their insurance, and I was only 2-3 years out of college. All of these things made me feel like I was such a fake adult. I was so resentful that college prepared me so little for this world, while it seemed like everyone else my age had it all figured out already. What finally got me out of my quarter life meltdown was trying so many different things and not being afraid if none of those things fit the storyline I had set out for myself back when I was like 18. Fast forward to today, I’ve finally found a career I love after a lot of trial and error. But now standing on the other side of that career crisis, I’ve realized no one has to go through any of those trials and errors alone. I wish I had known about resources like COOP ‘s Career Fellowship back then, which prepares first-gen college grads for careers in tech like Data Analytics, Digital Marketing or Financial Services. COOP supports fellows through career coaching and resources, and is 100% free. If you’re a first-gen college grad in the 𝙈𝙞𝙖𝙢𝙞, 𝘾𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙜𝙤, 𝙇𝘼, 𝙉𝙔𝘾 𝙤𝙧 𝙎𝙖𝙣 𝙁𝙧𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙞𝙨𝙘𝙤 areas and you’re ready for a program that actually prepares you for a meaningful career, learn how to apply for the Fall 25 fellowship here 👉 https://lnkd.in/ehpk73A9 #sponsored

Writing “ex-Google” or “ex-Facebook” in your LinkedIn headline is like writing “my ex was hot and rich” on dating apps. You’re more than your current or previous employers. Please just let your experience section speak for itself. Sincerely, Someone who’s tired of Big Tech being put on a pedestal P.S. Recruiter friends - what are your thoughts??
3 years ago today, I made a viral LinkedIn post that changed my life. Here’s what happened next: ✅ The post tripled my LinkedIn following (3k —> 9k) ✅ My future manager found my post and I was hired as a data scientist ✅ LinkedIn Learning found my post and I became a 2x LinkedIn Learning instructor ✅ I became more consistent with posting and started getting recognized in the data space ✅ That recognition gave me career opportunities that a shy girl like me would have never had otherwise This one fateful post taught me this: 1. You can’t have viral days without the tanked-post days 2. Posts you put the least effort into are the ones that will pop off 3. Always put yourself out there—you never know who could be watching ♻️ Reshare this if I’ll be seeing your posts on my LinkedIn feed soon!
I’ve been unemployed for a year now. Well, by unemployed I mean not employed by any “traditional” job with any set title, salary or benefits. Because exactly 1 year ago today, I quit my corporate job in tech to become a full time content creator. A year ago if you had told me I would not only be 𝘰𝘬𝘢𝘺 with, but also PROUD of no longer having a real job title or set yearly salary, I would have laughed in your face. You see, I used to define my own worth by those two things. “I’m a data scientist” I would say smugly to anyone who asked what I do for a living, knowing I also made a pretty competitive salary in the field. So when burnout forced me to leave it all behind, I lost my identity. I struggled to introduce myself whenever anyone asked “So what do you do?” I’ve called myself so many different things depending on the occasion: CEO Founder Influencer Content Creator Developer Advocate ”I work in data science” Professional LinkedIn-er None of these labels truly fit me though because I felt like I could never assign myself to just one box. Now a year into this life of arbitrary titles, I’ve realized I’ve always had multiple interests, passions and identities, even before I had this “nontraditional” job. Whether you work a 9-5, work for yourself, you’re in between jobs, or you’re just figuring it out— 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘀𝗼 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗷𝗼𝗯 𝘁𝗶𝘁𝗹𝗲. ♻️ Reshare this for someone who needs to hear this!
I once knew someone who gave everything to her career, and neglected every other aspect of her life. Her relationships suffered because she never had time to see friends and family. Her physical health deteriorated because she sat in front of a computer screen all day everyday. Her depression was at an all time high because her only hobby was chasing her next promotion. One day, the unimaginable happened. She lost her job due to layoffs, and with it went her entire world. And she was left to face the gaping void that was all the other areas of her life she had never cared about before. Only in facing that void did she realize she was so busy making a living, she forgot to make a life. That someone was me. ♻️ Reshare this for someone who needs the reminder!
I increased my salary by 50% after being laid off. But the novelty of the new salary wore off a month later. The story has been the same between every salary increase I’ve ever had: 1st job to 2nd job: 20% increase 2nd job to 3rd job: 25% increase 3rd job promotion: 10% increase 3rd job to 4th job: 50% increase I’d be lying if I said the monetary benefits weren’t the primary motivation behind each jump. But the novelty of those benefits always wore off within a month or two. Is it because I’m insatiable and greedy? No. It’s because after a certain point, the increase in salary is just a temporary ego stroke and not a real change to my lifestyle. If you you would have told me this when I was a new grad—bright-eyed, bushy-tailed and believing that a 6-figure salary would make me worthier—I wouldn’t have believed you. But now, after enough seasons of realizing work and the salary it provides—no matter how high—are just means to an end, I would tell you this: It’s ok to celebrate having more money, because this capitalistic society tells us more money = more freedom. But never ever believe more money = more personal value, because the excitement of more money will inevitably disappear, and along with it your sense of self worth.
I hope April is good to you ❤️ That's it. That's the post. ♻️ Reshare this for someone who needs these affirmations this month!
Kicking job seekers while they’re down in this job market is companies' “ghost job” postings. These are roles that companies post with no intention of ever filling. One study showed 3 in 10 companies surveyed intentionally have fake listings on their job boards. These exist for a couple of reasons: They want to placate overworked employees The company wants to signal the company is growing Hoarding resumes for the future—aka resume harvesting They want to know how low candidates will take the role for These reasons reveal just how much of an employers' market we're in. But tere’s what you can do in a job market filled with ghost postings: 1. Warn others if you know a posting is “ghost” 2. Ask your recruiter for clear expectations and timelines 3. Take note of positions that a company never really takes down Job seekers deserve empathy and transparency in this job market, not deceptive hiring practices that waste everyone’s time and energy. They deserve better than fake job postings. ♻️ Reshare this for a job seeker who needs to know about this!
I used to have panic attacks before my weekly 1:1’s with my last manager. Every Tuesday at 11 am my heart would pound out of my chest and my palms would clam up, like clockwork. Because every Tuesday at 11 am he’d have some new criticism of how I, a one-person team, could have done more, faster, and better. At first, I chalked it up to being new in the role and working at a startup. But over time, as the criticisms stacked up, and the fear turned into jadedness turned into burnout turned into resentment. Through those range of emotions over the course of the 6 months I lasted in that role, I realized consistent fear of my manager was NOT normal. Especially when it started to impact my physical and mental health. Because a manager may intimidate, but a true leader inspires. ♻️ Reshare this for someone who needs to hear it!
I thanked my company when they let me go with no notice. I tearfully thanked them during my termination call, and publicly thanked them in my LinkedIn announcement post. I did it because I didn’t want to burn any bridges, but also, I just wanted to keep whatever dignity I had left intact. It wasn’t until months later, after I processed my trauma, that I realized I didn’t owe that company anything but my true and honest feelings… Which were that I felt used and like I was merely part of a transaction even after dedicating a year and a half of my life to them. But that’s the thing: everyone who’s ever been affected by layoffs is just a number on a balance sheet. Always have been, always will be. Thanking these companies for their bad financial decisions isn’t going to change this fact, so might as well voice your true feelings because others are probably feeling the same way. If you feel angry, resentful, or bitter that you had to pay the price for these bad decisions, express it because that’s normal. And if that burns the bridge, then let that fire light the way to your next bridge. ♻️ Reshare this post for someone who needs to see this ❤️
