What is money to you ?

This weekend was a difficult one . 

Together with my co-founder Jonathan Kasagga, we asked ourselves the hard questions. 

We thought it was important to understand your business partner’s most immediate needs, short term money goal and the long term. 

We wanted to find out wether we fit in together. Find out our differences and how to fix them. 

Trying to find answers for every young man’s problem - money. 

To Jonathan Kasagga , money is security 
To me , money is comfort. 

While my most immediate money goal was $35,657, short term (5 years) $150,000), I realised that I didn’t know what my long term money goal was so I struggled 🤣😁

Jonathan had no immediate money need but had a short term money goal of making $125,000 in the next 3 years. His long term goal was to keep that as his minimum net worth.

Can Poland become the next China in Africa?

"In the next 5 years, my goal is to secure a $200M FDI portfolio for investment between Uganda and Poland."

It's inspiring to see Polish businesses actively pursuing new business prospects in Africa and playing a role in the continent's growth and development.

1. Ursus tractors is providing farmers in Ethiopia with reliable tractors. 
2. Grupa Azoty is helping farmers in Senegal with high-quality fertilizers that suit the local soil. 
3. Solaris is revolutionizing transportation in South Africa with its eco-friendly electric buses
4. Corntech is revolutionizing storage and milling facilities in Uganda. 
5. Selena Group is building better infrastructure across Africa. 

Doing business on the African market comes with its own set of challenges, such as cultural differences and infrastructure issues, these companies have shown that they are up to the task. 

By investing in local communities and understanding their needs, these companies have built strong relationships and partnerships that have benefited both sides.

 It's heartening to see more businesses taking the initiative to explore new opportunities in Africa and contribute to the growth and development of the continent

And this is my new life's mission: To help as many Polish businesses launch their operations.

In the coming weeks, I will be carefully reviewing go-to-market strategies that some of these companies have deployed to get them started.

I’m on a mission to raise a $200M (foreign direct investment (FDI) portfolio between Uganda & Poland in  the next 5 years. 

Is it possible? - Yes or No 

I guess we’ll find out 5 years later.

You might be asking yourself why ? 
And here is why ! 

The first Polish Siberians  arrived in Uganda in 1942 as part of the refugees at the time over 20,000 poles were being persecuted by the Soviet Union. 

History tells us that they lived in Uganda between 1942-1947.  

Poland and Uganda bilateral relations where established  in 1963. 

Uganda has been with friends with Poland since then. 

Not much is talked about between these 2 countries, 

But that is about to change. 

The  Ugandan government seeks to solidify that relationship.

And I’m the man that’s committed to do the watering. 

Uganda launched a one stop investment, trade & tourism centre in warsaw in June 2023. 

With an aim to improve trade relations between the 2 countries. 

Currently it stands at approximately $21M

We are not happy with this result and we are committed to changing that. 

The Ugandan State minister of finance for investment & privatisation Hon Evelyn Anite 
together with her team Beecham Okwere David Rwakakamba MORRISON and Light for Africa foundation reignited the trade relations between these countries in June 2023. 

This was such a bold move,but an opportunity for me to shine. 

For the last 3 years, I have dedicated my life to study and observe the polish culture , trade and investments climate. 

Thanks to Polish Investment and Trade Agency (PAIH)  - great job folks ! 

The potential here is so great! 

On my mission to help Uganda & Poland grow an FDI portfolio  from $20M to $200 in the next 5 years. 

I will be focusing on  3 sectors: 
1. Automotive 
2. ICT
3. Manufacturing

Choose your relationships wisely.🐝

When it comes to relationships, choose quality over quantity

We can't do without relationships. Life isn't meant to be lived in isolation, so we would always need people by our sides. It's pride to say you don't need anyone.

Learn from nature. You were born into this world by your parents, you most likely have siblings, and grew up having childhood friends even when you didn't know anything about life. That's proof that we need people.

One important thing you should know about relationships is that they influence who you become. 

The common saying is true: you become like the people you hang around. 

If your friends are all millionaires, it will only take time before you become one. Similarly, if they're all broke, you'll end up like them if you don't do anything about it.

You can’t choose your family members, but you have the power to choose every other person you hang around. 

It's in your power to choose your significant other, best friends, professional allies, neighbors, and so on. Make it count.

Study upon study has shown that we have limited space for close relationships. 

You can be friends with as many people as you want, but you can only be close friends with very few people. 

These few people account for 20% or so of your overall relationships, but they make for more or less 80% of the value you get from relationships.

For example, most people fall in love only once in a lifetime and have two childhood friends and two adult friends. 

The trend continues even in professional relationships. 

People may look up to tens of seniors, but only one to three will truly be their mentors. 

It is just how we're wired. Since we have limited capacities for close and meaningful relationships, wisdom demands that you fill your spaces. Take time to vet people.

Aside from choosing your significant other and best friends, develop six or seven professional relationships as follows:

• One or two with someone you admire
• Up to three relationships with reliable peers
• One or two relationships with mentees you'll pour your life into

For every relationship you form, five attributes determine if the relationship will work or not. 

They include mutual enjoyment of each other’s company, respect, shared experience, reciprocity, and trust.

Put your money where your customer’s mouth is! 

Think about the title of this section of the post for a few seconds. Soak it in.

Every business owner, C-Suite executive, or managing director would unanimously agree that it is imperative to understand your customer’s needs, pains, and desires while having the ability to speak to them in their language.

🫣 Speaking the customer’s language is rarely (often never) accomplished unless all three revenue-generating functions of a business are in tune with their clients and working in harmony. 

Most businesses have not set up their systems to support data-driven behavior. 

☝️Data-inept systems cannot enable a proper RevOps process to sustain a de-siloed centralized revenue initiative.

☝️Data-driven RevOps is used to solve the customer language barrier

☝️Sales Teams must record the real reason and pain, in detail, of why customers are buying the product in the customer’s words, not their own. 

🥹”Because it was a good fit” is un-f*cking-acceptable. 

☝️That data gets fed to the customer success team to properly prepare and learn what they need to help solve rather than hitting “reset” each pass-off. 

💪It enables the marketing team to know why the hell people buy; that aren’t the biased assumptions the team comes up with during a brainstorming session.

🐝Success Teams must record result metrics, establish feedback loops, and mutual accountability, though most importantly, understand the customer’s needs. People buy experiences and outcomes—period. 

This data gets fed to the sales team to drive sales with hero’s journeys. 

🌞It informs the marketing team to know what content to create that sustains the flow of value to strengthen relationships, fuel upsells/cross-sells to feed the sales team, and incentivizes repeat buyers to spend more.

Getting that done prevents you from kissing a thousand frogs 🐸.

The world expects us to be updated about everything that happens and to have an opinion about each critical situation, but 

- for each person, different situations are "important"
- there will always be something we don't know
- we barely manage to stay on top of our own lives 

The question I asked myself: 

Does consuming all the news and information about each world event improve my life?

In my case - it didn't 
So, I started a "low information diet" 

I stopped: 
- watching news on TV
- reading all the newsletters 
- scrolling social media platforms

If something important happens, I will know about it anyway. 

Someone will call it ignorance - I will call it "strategic ignorance". 

Attention is the scariest asset, and strategic ignorance saves me much time and focus.

$1.43 trillion USD in 2022, up from $1.18 trillion USD 💪👇

📈 Trade Growth:
Africa’s total merchandise trade surged to $1.43 trillion USD in 2022, up from $1.18 trillion USD in 2021 and $891.58 billion USD in 2020.

🚢 Exports and Imports:
Exports reached $724.04 billion USD, while imports stood at $706.02 billion USD in 2022.

Notably, Italy exported goods worth $745.5 billion USD and imported $743 billion USD during the same period.

👥 Population Dynamics:
Africa’s population hit 1.39 billion by the end of 2022, projected to reach 2.5 billion by 2050.

In 2022, over half of Africa’s population was under 18.8 years old (contrasting with the EU’s median age of 44.4 years).

🌐 Trade Partnerships:
Five countries—South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, Nigeria, and Tunisia—accounted for 52.7% of total African imports.
Fourteen countries received 76.1% of these imports, while 25 countries received 90.0%.

🌏 Shifts in Import Markets:
Historically dominant, the EU’s share of African imports declined to 23.6% in 2022 (from over 45% in the 1990s).

Asia emerged as Africa’s largest import market (32.1% of total imports) due to technological progress and manufacturing growth.

🌅 Middle East Rising:
North America lost its position as Africa’s third-largest export destination to the Middle East.

Strategic trade policies by GCC countries, especially the UAE, fueled the Middle East’s ascent.

🌟 Africa’s Global Role:
Despite its potential, Africa’s global trade share remains modest at 3% in 2022.

There is more work to be done.

Bold initiatives are needed to diversify growth sources and enhance integration into the global economy.

How to deal with Debts: 
          
                 PART 1


♻️Debts have become a permanent part of many people's lives. 

While you do not have to feel shame about having them, you should create a plan to help you pay them off.

✳️You might think you're broke, but once you make a budget, you might find you're just overspent. ~ Jen Smith

✳️Your  understanding of why you need to pay off debt affects your work performance and motivation. 

Will this freedom allow you to quit your current job, go on a trip, or finally own your house? 

Whatever it is, be honest with yourself. 
Be vulnerable and passionate about it.

Next, ask yourself: “What is keeping me from paying off this debt?” 

Usually, the answer to this question may be: 

❎“I don’t earn enough,” or “I don’t have enough time.” 
❎These are just excuses. 

Write down why you want to pay your debts and what you think hinders you from doing so. 

Take some time to review these reasons.

❎You have to decide to replace negative thoughts with positive ones. 
❎Your desire and readiness will allow you to create a payment plan and successfully execute it. 

✅Be honest about why you want to pay your debts — figuring out your why will help you commit to becoming debt-free. ~ Jen Smith

After that, you can start implementing the dreams you have been putting off due to debt. 

In addition, you will finally feel that your finances belong only to you, and you have the right to use them at your discretion.
