Here's a simple way, used by global consulting firms.
→

How do you get someone to buy...
→ A solution to a problem.
→ They don't realise they need.

Let's define the difference...
→ Need = A problem they should be solving.
→ Want = A problem they are motivated to solve.

There are two ways sell what people need...
→ Brilliant sales skills.
→ Lots and lots of buyer education.

It's not easy to do that. It takes time, skill and most don't have the energy or inclination to what to do that.

But there is a strategy used by global consulting firms to overcome this...

They call it land and expand:
→ Sell them what they want.
→ Demonstrate proof of value.
→ Expose the bigger issues.
→ Upsell them to the bigger project.

I meet a lot of great experts, working hard to educate people on the problem they should solve, getting claps from their peers, but perfect-fit clients scrolling past.

→ Build an offer people want.
→ Land paying clients.
→ Then expand.

I’ve never been a fan of Taylor Swift.

But one thing she said changed my mind.

Her new album has a track called Opalite.

There’s a line in it that stopped me in my tracks:

“You had to make your own sunshine.”

A few days later, in Miami, someone said to me:

“You have to trust life more.”

Those two lines hit harder than I expected.

We’re living through a rough period.
Wars. Conflict. Politics. The economy.
You don’t need to look far to find reasons to feel stuck.

But both lines point to the same truth:
→ There will always be problems.
→ There will always be setbacks.
→ There will always be reasons you’re not further ahead yet.

But you can still make your own sunshine.
And you can trust life a bit more.

I’m not a Swiftie… but I might be on the way.

Make it exist first.
Make it good next.
It's hard to both at the same time.

If you want it, go get it. If you want to build that business...

You've got to get serious about the goal.

A goal without taking action is just a dream.

→ Build an offer: A solution to a problem people want to solve.

→ Pick your buyers: Target people who've got budget and have the problem.

→ Map your message: Craft a message that triggers action not just engagement

→ Leads To Clients: Install a system to capture leads, book calls and win clients.

My own experience has been this:

→ Life is tough.
→ Nothing comes by chance.
→ You have to position for it.
→ You have to pursue it.

If you don't go for it, it will pass you by. 

You're one conversation away from winning a client.

So get serious and you'll smash it.

This is the sign you've been waiting for.

You’re not as far from a new client as you think.

Instead of posting and waiting.
Go out and start conversations.

Not pitching.
Don't hard sell.

I make it a mission to start at least 5 conversations every day.
Even now with a team of 30+ people.

It's the simplest sales strategy you can follow.

You know the saying "an apple a day keeps the doctor away"
Well, a conversation a day keeps.... clients coming in.

Don't wait for the “perfect post” or the algorithm to work some miracle.

One human-to-human chat can open a door you’ve been staring at for months.

If you want more clients, start talking to the people already in your world. 

The opportunity is usually closer than you realise.

Free tips, helpful hacks grow your following, but they don't get you clients.

They bring in DIYers.

DIYers almost NEVER turn into buyers.

→ Education content builds visibility.
→ Education content builds followers
→ But it doesn't drive action.

Try these 8 ideas.

I'm terrible for overthinking posting.

The success in posting isn't about sharing new things but putting new spins on old ideas.

Think about it like this...

Step 1 - Break it down
→ Pick 3-5 topics you can cover
→ Break them down into small things
→ Share different angles on the same things

Step 2 - Post by goal
→ Attract content - broad appeal - drives engagement
→ Nurture content - Useful - builds trust
→ Convert content - Drives action - gets you leads

Step 3 - Create them
Here's my example: 
→ Topic: Getting leads from webinars

→ Attract post - Embarrassing mistake I made on a webinar
→ Nurture post - 5 things I you should never do on a webinar
→ Convert post - Here's why you're not getting leads from webinars

If you spend time creating, you should be sweating that content as an asset.

Re-use it (share it again)
Re-format it (image → video)
Re-purpose it (post → blog)

How I get clients on LinkedIn

(without pitching)

I've been using LinkedIn as a lead source for 14 years.

2025 has been my best year.

So, I'm breaking down how I get clients here without pitching.

→ LinkedIn Events - I host a weekly lives sharing my experience and practical application. On average 400 people sign up for them.

→ LinkedIn Newsletter - Weekly newsletter giving advice and tips and promoting what I do. I get 7k readers each week. 

→ Hyper Targeted Messaging - Not pitching but speaking to the problems my target audience face. Book 5 calls per week.

All 3 achieve the same thing.

CONVERSATIONS

I just do the same thing over and over.

What about posting?

Well, everything that comes from my content is a bonus.

I don't rely on posts to achieve anything.

I am focused on things I can do over and over again and get predictable results.

Content can't do that.

If you're an expert, coach or consultant, you want to build systems to get leads and start conversations.

That's the key to getting clients.

"I'm worried AI can replace me / my business"

Here's 5 ways to make you and your business AI proof.

→ Trust will fall - AI helps amateurs look like experts. It will be more competitive, but people will look for people with experience and a history of achieving results.

→ Perception will not be reality - If you have a big following, lots of engagement, it is assumed you are competent. People will look deeper before they buy.

→ Paradox of choice - As AI gives us more options and more information, making decisions will become more difficult. Information overload will create space. This will be an opportunity.

→ Niche Specialisms - AI will be the generalist, humans will be the specialists. We'll pay more for specialised advice and less for general advice. Experts in complex issues will thrive.

→ Human skills - The skill in sales and marketing will be your ability to connect and have conversations with humans. It's either get good at AI or get good at humans. No room in between.

AI can only replace what is replaceable.

→ Salespeople relying on automation to get leads.
→ Business owners not having a specialism or USP.
→ Experts trying to appeal to broad markets.

These are the major risks that make you vulnerable to AI.
But in reality, you're just as vulnerable to human competitor.

Think about your moat.
The barriers to entry into your market.

Whether you are looking for a job or building a business, the question is the same - What is my value prop to the market?

→ An ultra human skillset.
→ Deep knowledge and experience
→ A specialism.

These make you AI proof.

We all need leads. We all need clients. 

But people are fed up of sales pitches and robotic, generic outreach. 

We'll look at how to sell better, without the ick, in a way which is effective predictable and sustainable whether you are full time sales pro or a solopreneur.

You think you’re selling outcomes…but you’re not.

And that’s why they never take the next step.

Buyers ignore you when you use words like ‘better’ and ‘clearer’.

Most people claim they deliver “better”, “improved”, “clearer”, “stronger”.

None of those tell someone what will actually change.

A real outcome is something you can check with your eyes or hands.

Examples of change:
 • something that used to take 10 steps now takes 3
 • something that was done wrong now gets done correctly
 • something that sat unfinished is now completed
 • something that caused delays now runs on time
 • something that needed chasing now happens automatically
 • something that broke every week now doesn’t break at all
 • something that required guessing now has a clear answer written down

Those are outcomes because you can verify them without opinion.

You can look at them and say “yes, that changed.”

Adjectives are opinions.
Outcomes are facts.

If you describe what you do using adjectives without an outcome, nobody can see the difference it makes.

People don’t pay for opinions.
They pay for facts they can see working.

Here's an insight into my strategy for LinkedIn 2026...

(Why it's going to help me break my $3m ceiling)

I've been torn for years between my passion and my business.

A lot of MAVERRIK® - Social Selling Training#s clients are large SMEs, where we train sales teams, marketing teams etc.

But my passion is to help solopreneurs, specifically people with skills and expertise. I started as a solopreneur expert.

So, I've felt that pull of being CEO of MAVERRIK and wanting to help experts, coaches and consultants.

With AI and the boom of LinkedIn, I'm changing my approach.

Dean is for the coaches, consultants, thought leaders and experts.

MAVERRIK® - Social Selling Training is for salespeople, marketers and larger orgs.

This way we can tackle two markets, whilst not muddying our message.

Realignment incoming.

I'll still be teaching social selling.
I'll still speak at events
I'll still be CEO

Just my focus on LinkedIn is for ONE AUDIENCE selling ONE THING.

I'll be marketing and selling our Accelerator.

With all the crazy stuff with the economy, AI and the roll out of the new algorithm (see Terry Heath's newsletter) it's important your profile, content and message aligns.

That means, even with nearly 80k followers, even I have to focus now more than ever.

A lot of what I'll share will be relevant for everyone, but I have to shoot at an audience if I want to get some visibility.

So in one sense, nothing has changed.
But in another sense.... I'm going a bit niche.

Build A $250k Business On LinkedIn As Expert

Big promises and hype won't cut it anymore.

Focus on building these 3 types of trust.

We are heading into a zero-trust world.
Scammers on every corner.
Hype is rife.

This is why trust will be the most important asset for your career / business. This is why you get referrals, but it's also something you need to build in the marketplace too.

You need to build trust with strangers....

3 types of trust you need to build...

➡️ Trust in You
They need to believe you’re a safe pair of hands.  Not perfect. Not flashy. Just credible, consistent and human.  This usually comes from your story, your tone, your experience and how you show up.

➡️ Trust in the Solution
They must feel confident that what you’re offering actually works.  Case studies, outcomes, frameworks, processes, logic.  This is “proof of effectiveness” rather than hype.

➡️ Trust in Themselves
They might believe in you and the solution but still think they won’t get the result. Help them see the path, reduce the overwhelm, simplify the steps and show them people like them have succeeded.

Trust is built by multiple exposures, not one hit wonders. Someone will need to see your offer 7-11 times before they consider buying it.

This is what the need to see from you:

→ Stories and personal experiences.
→ Micro tactical insights and tips.
→ Past clients successes and wins.
→ Your offer simply explained.

Focus all of your efforts not on getting likes, but on your profile, posts and interactions achieving one thing.... build massive trust.
