“Ankit, I want to become an entrepreneur. What should I do?” My usual response to this question is this: “Take at least 2 years of your life and assume you’ll earn nothing during that time.” Because of the Instagram reels, the Shark Tank edits, and the speeches about freedom, flexibility, and making millions while sipping coconut water on a beach, the idea of entrepreneurship has been glorified to the next level. But here’s the reality that doesn’t go viral: — The first 2 years are brutal. Because that’s what this journey often demands. A financially draining, mentally exhausting, and incredibly lonely phase of building something from scratch. Let’s look at the stats first: >>> 90% of startups fail >>> Of the 10% that survive, only 1% become scalable businesses >>> Most founders don’t pay themselves for the first 18–24 months >>> Sleep, weekends, and work-life balance? All become luxuries. And the guilt of taking breaks? Next level. But if you are still interested …. Ask yourself these 3 things: 1/ Can I go 2 years without a salary and not regret it? 2/ Do I have a problem I’m obsessed with solving? 3/ Am I okay being told ‘No’ 100 times before someone says ‘Yes’? If yes, talk to the founders, do your math, and fall in love with the problem first. Then, you’re welcome to the club. (If I sound harsh, apology, but this is REALITY.) Ps: If you’ve been in this game for a long time, let’s talk about the unfiltered side of entrepreneurship.👇 #entrepreneurship #realtalk
To all the new moms managing it all, this post is for you. Whenever I see a new mom managing work, family, and everything in between, I think, "How do they do it?" I still don’t know the answer, and honestly, I don’t think anyone can truly understand until they’ve been in those shoes. The challenge becomes even greater when you take a long break from your career to care for your little one. 43% of women face career setbacks after having kids. The gap in your resume, the struggle to get back into the workforce, and the pressure to be the best at home all pile-up. That’s why I was so relieved when I came across "A roadmap for moms returning to work" on topmate.io. Support like this shouldn’t be rare; it should be the norm. If you’re a new mom or know someone who is, share this. Sometimes, all it takes is that little nudge to help you feel confident enough to take that next step. No one should have to choose between being a great parent and having a fulfilling career. Let’s change that. #topmate

The mentors on topmate.io have consistently inspired me, but this post by Mostafa M. 🍉 . left me speechless. Mostafa has been in the top 1% of mentors on our platform, but what he’s doing goes far beyond career growth. He’s using his time, knowledge, and platform to raise life-saving funds for families in Gaza and has already helped so many, both through mentorship and direct aid. This is what it looks like when technology meets compassion. If you're looking to grow in your tech journey and want your donation to make a real impact, I can’t recommend this enough. We’re proud to host people like Mostafa on topmate.

TLDR: I'm offering mentorship in Software Engineering in exchange for your donation to the struggling families in Gaza ----------------------------------------------------------- Because of israel's blockage on Gaza, for the last 50+ days .. not a single drop of water, pill of medicine or a breadcrump has entered the enclave. The big media isn't reporting this: but over the last 3 weeks the bombardment has intensified, pictures of decapitated babies and children .. bodies that are burnt to the crisp and human remains have become the norm. The prices of everything has sky rocketed due to lack of humanitarian aid .. if Gazans survived bombing they will not survive from diseases, mosiqutos biting their faces, living in tents for 18 months, and now famine is creeping and we are seeing pictures of human skeletons. Over the last year I have been donating my time, effort, knowledge and money to help and mentor as many people from Palestine, Sudan, Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Congo .. I take what I need from my salary and donate the rest for the families in Gaza .. but this isn't enough. So I'm expanding my mentorship services to include every nationality there is, with exchange of them donating the money to a Go Fund Me campaign of families in Gaza, these campaigns have been vetted by myself, I have been talking to their owners and made sure the money is going to those in need. I can help you with setting a roadmap, overcoming fear of interview, providing resources for Algorithms and Data structures, Backend, Frontend, Machine Learning, System Design, resumé critique and more. I'm attaching snippets from the feedback I got from my mentees (some of whom are martyred now, curtosy of american and european bombs) to vouch for my ability. I'm have also been the top 1% mentor for 2 consecutive months on topmate.io and +20 of my mentees got job offers, got accepted in a college, landed their first freelancing gig .. one of them got accepted into an incubator and got fund to see her startup .. I'm proud of all of them. I will NOT accept direct payment, before the call I will share with you the Go Fund Me campaing link, and we can start our session after you donate and provide a screenshot with your name as proof 🙏 This way you get the advices you want, Palestinians get help they need, and my shame may lessen .. If want to donate without a session (thank you ❤️ ) I am attaching the link to the campagin of Dareen, she is a talanted Software Tester and a pure soul trying to survive in north Gaza, your donation will breath life into her and her family till this genocide it over. To book your mentorship session: https://lnkd.in/d36Xan4X To donate to Dareen: https://gofund.me/22045efb
I’m not sure if influencers make good founders. Honestly, I don’t even care. However, what I do know is that if you… Show up when it’s hard, even when the world tells you to quit, Obsess over your users more than your own image, Ask stupid questions instead of pretending to know, Stick around when it’s boring, hard, and slow, Take feedback without taking it personally, Ship when it’s not perfect, but needed. Find joy in the grind, not just the wins. Still build it even if no one clapped, Care more about trust than traction. Listen more than you talk. You’re already doing what most don’t. That’s what I look for in a founder. That’s who I try to be. #founder #startup #influencer
Update: Just dropped something new on topmate!! (If you’ve ever hesitated to book a session, this one's for you.) You can now watch expert answers before booking a session, so you won't have to guess if it’ll be worth your time or money. Just head to topmate.io, type in what you’re curious about, and you’ll see short clips from real conversations, with people asking honest questions and experts giving straight-up answers. It gives you a sense of the vibe, depth, and value before committing. This idea came up when Dinesh Singh and I were talking the other day. We both went: "Why can't you preview real advice before booking?" It felt like a no-brainer. Built the MVP in under 24 hours. Refined it. It’s live now! Try it here: https://lnkd.in/gUvyugPc P.S. Some of the best features come from moments where someone says, "Why isn't this easier?" This is one of those. Try it and let me know if you find it helpful :) #topmate
Is India’s biggest productivity killer our own holiday calendar? A viral post recently made this claim. And honestly, I think we’re asking the wrong question. The real challenge isn't how many holidays we have, it's how we work the rest of the time. 👉 MSMES struggling during long breaks? That points to weak systems, not just too many festivals. 👉 Global clients losing faith? That means we need better communication, not fewer cultural observances. We can’t build a world-class workforce by guilt-tripping people out of rest. We do it by upgrading our tools, workflows, and mindset. This narrative becomes even less relatable when you consider the way people work today. At topmate.io, I see creators and consultants book calls at 10 PM or 6 AM, not because they’re forced to hustle, but because they’ve built systems around their lifestyle, not against it. So, let’s not frame holidays as an obstacle to growth. They’re not the problem. Poor planning is. The future of work in India shouldn’t be about choosing between rest and results. We need both, and we’re smart enough to build for it. Should we adjust our holiday calendar or change our work practices? What do you think?
I still can’t get over how powerful Operation Sindoor feels. The name. The timing. The precision. To every citizen grieving and to every enemy watching, India spoke. Loud. Clear. Proud. 🇮🇳 Jai Hind. More power to our jawans. #OperationSindoor
Ever seen a mela where students walked in with resumes and walked out with offer letters? That’s exactly what last week felt like at the B-School Internship Fair. – 120+ companies showed up. – 30+ were there for offline rounds. – And in just 60 minutes, 52 students walked out with offer letters. – Another 100+ got shortlisted for the next rounds. But numbers only tell part of the story. What stuck with me were the conversations. Students from non-tech backgrounds. Some who’d never done a formal interview before. And yet, they showed up. A few shared how they used topmate.io to connect with mentors who helped them prepare. One student told me, “If I hadn’t spoken to that mentor last week, I wouldn’t have even known where to start.” That hit home. Because this isn’t just about jobs or internships, it’s about access. It's about students who often don’t have the networks or guidance that many take for granted. And in a world where hiring is getting tougher by the day, even 15 minutes of honest mentorship can make all the difference. These are the moments that remind us why we started topmate.io in the first place. If you were at the fair, I would love to hear about your experience. And if you're someone looking for mentorship—or hoping to offer it—come check out what we’re building at Topmate. You might just change someone’s journey, or maybe, they’ll change yours. #topmate #jobsearch #internship
I built a fully working internal tool in 48 hours using AI. Not just me, but my team has been doing the same. Every single week, someone from the non-tech side ships a small AI or no-code experiment. Some save us time. Some improve how we work. A few are turning into actual micro-Saas tools. And the best part? Neither I nor most of my team comes from a tech background. I’ve never written a single line of code. I'm sharing this because too many founders are still under the illusion that building meaningful tools or automations requires technical expertise, or that without a development team, you’re stuck. The truth is that non-tech teams can build, and often, they can do so more efficiently. Look, I get it. Most companies are either scrambling to hire developers to keep up with the AI trend or they’re watching from the sidelines, overwhelmed by the hype. However, we have taken a different approach. Instead of hiring more people or waiting for the next "big AI breakthrough," we’ve focused on empowering the team we already have. Here’s the shift that made all the difference for us: >>>> We stopped treating AI as something only tech people can leverage, and instead, we gave our non-tech team the tools and freedom to experiment with it. You’d be amazed at how much can get built in a weekend when you stop worrying about code and start focusing on the problem at hand. So, if you’re a founder: → Stop waiting for your dev team to do everything. → Empower your non-tech team to build. → Make “done” better than “perfect.” → Share what’s working. Learn in public. You don’t need a tech team to start building. You need a team that’s encouraged to try. P.S.: I created this website, where you can find the data of HRS that are actively hiring across various domains. Link is in the comment. #AI #Startup #Founder #topmate.io
A Zomato delivery boy added a handwritten note in someone’s late-night order. He was pitching himself for a summer internship in marketing. I mean, just think about that for a second: there are thousands of college students out there sending cold emails and updating their LinkedIn bios, and this guy just went for it. On a delivery shift. With a pen and paper. What a bold, creative move. And, for obvious reasons, the moment Nikhil, the customer, shared it on LinkedIn, it went viral. However, the fact is that this isn’t the first time something like this has been successful. — A few months back, a design student sent a physical resume by India Post to Swiggy’s AVP of Design. Included a full-on custom UX case study. — And just recently, someone created a custom GPT as a resume that talks like them and explains their work. I mean… who thinks of that? But it worked because it stood out. Why am I sharing this? Because today, it’s not about shouting louder, it’s about being remembered. And the only way to do that is by getting attention. And trust me, getting attention isn’t that difficult. You just have to: > Do something a little unexpected > Lead with honesty > Show your intent clearly > And be human (actually human) That’s it. That’s the unlock. You don’t need more polish. You need more courage. What’s stopping you? #jobsearch #creativity
An IIM-A student used ChatGPT to write his entire marketing project. He got an A+. The internet went crazy. Some cheered him on, others called it the death of real learning. But I can’t see the problem here. This is the new reality. He didn’t just copy-paste. He went to stores, spoke to people, took raw notes, and then used AI to structure his report. That’s not cheating. That’s understanding what matters today. As someone building in the expert knowledge space, I’ll say this plainly – no one is paying you anymore to rewrite existing content. They’re paying for how fast you can extract insight, how clearly you can communicate, and how well you can use the tools available. Even at topmate.io, people aren’t booking calls just to “learn theory.” They want to hear what actually works, in your voice, with real examples. This is where education is headed. The value is no longer in how long it takes you to write something. It’s in how well you’ve understood the problem, and how quickly you can act on it. That student didn’t break the system. He played by the new rules, while most are still arguing over the old ones. The sooner we accept that effort looks different now, the better we can prepare for what’s next. What do you think? Are we evolving fast enough? #AI #ChatGPT
