The Space Systems Critical Infrastructure Working Group is a group of government and industry members that was formed by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) in May 20211. The group aims to identify and develop strategies to minimize risks to space systems that support the nation’s critical infrastructure, such as communications, navigation, weather monitoring, and national defense2. The group operates under the Critical Infrastructure Partnership Advisory Council (CIPAC) framework, bringing together space system critical infrastructure stakeholders from various sectors1. The group is co-chaired by Jim Platt, Chief of Strategic Defense Initiatives at CISA, and John Galer, Assistant Vice President of National Security Space at Aerospace Industries Association1. The group will also work to implement the Space Policy Directive-5 Cybersecurity Principles for Space Systems, which was signed in September 2020 as the nation’s first comprehensive cybersecurity policy for space systems2.

The Washington Post has launched the Cybersecurity 202 newsletter breaking down the latest news on the politics and policy of cybersecurity. The newsletter, delivered every weekday morning, will lead with original reporting from cybersecurity reporter Derek Hawkins, delving into key issues like election security, major hacks, encryption and the debate around electronic surveillance. It will also include key stories from The Washington Post and other relevant publications, as well as a roundup of notable social media posts, video and other multimedia.

“With cybersecurity issues increasing in importance, the Cybersecurity 202 offers stakeholders a dedicated news source that gets them up to speed in the morning and arms them with fresh reporting for the day ahead,” said Sara Sorcher, deputy editor of PowerPost at The Washington Post. “Its unique combination of new reporting, analysis and curation gives readers a comprehensive and essential digest to keep them abreast of a discussion that could ultimately have far-reaching implications for consumers, businesses and the U.S. economy.”

Congrats to Hon. Curt Weldon receiving the Gusi Peace Prize ! 

The Gusi Peace Prize International is an annual award from a Philippine foundation that honors individuals and organizations for contributions to global peace, human rights, and progress. Founded in 2002 by Barry Gusi to honor his father's legacy, the prize is awarded to those who have made significant contributions to fields like human rights, the arts, and science, and the ceremony is recognized by the Philippine government. 

Former Congressman Curt Weldon has worked for over 30 years, to politically awaken and empower firefighters and first responders. In Congress, he founded the Congressional Fire Services Caucus to focus on the needs of firefighters and fire safety, funding, resources, and training. The caucus has grown to become one of the largest in Congress. 

At the Gusi Peace Prize event he will announce the formal expansion of the establishment of “One World for Life,” a non-profit foundation dedicated to empowering firefighters and first responders in the United States and worldwide.
