Millions of people have downloaded n8n

but they are all using it wrong.

So I fixed that.

I built an n8n workflow 

that creates massive n8n workflow diagrams.

It burns through hundreds of tokens 
and dollars in spend, 
scrapes half the internet, 
enriches the data, 
emails itself, 
scrapes again, 
and then emails me to say it worked.

It’s so complex I had to build another automation to explain it.

I now measure success by how quickly my laptop fan reaches its maximum speed.

It’s not a workflow anymore. 

It’s an ecosystem.

At this point, it’s scraping itself.

The AI didn’t replace me 

 it just made me busier.

I’ve struggled with mental health most of my adult life.

A dark depression that can hit at any time.

It runs in my family.
So for years,
I thought that was just who I was.

About six years ago, 
I finally built mechanisms to deal with it. 

Not fixes - just ways to manage it
To use it instead of letting it use me.

THEN

Last month, I was on a yacht with 20 founders.

Every one of them was sharp, driven, and a little… 

well...

... unhinged 😜

Not broken. 

Just wired differently.

Over breakfast John Reynolds and I talked about the dark side of that wiring

😣 the anxiety, 
🥱 the sleepless nights, 
😖 the constant hum that never switches off.

Today is World Mental Health Day

and part of that conversation, perhaps, should be 

about learning how to manage the madness.

Because the same traits that make you bold enough to build
are the ones that can quietly break you 

3 reminders for the beautifully unhinged:

1️⃣ Your restlessness is power - not pathology.
2️⃣ You don’t need to be calm to be healthy.
3️⃣ But protect the mind that builds the dream.

We don’t need to “fix” the unhinged.

But they likely need the tools to stay in the game.

A few years ago, I dropped everything.

Advisory roles.
Board seats.
All of it.

I wanted full focus on my own business

❌ no distractions, 
❌ no competing priorities.

And honestly, it was the right call at the time.

But recently… 

I’ve started saying yes again.

This time, with intention.

I only join boards where I know I’ll learn as much as I give.

Where I can see how other founders operate, 
how decisions get made, 
how culture scales (or doesn’t).

And it’s been eye-opening.

💡 Lesson: Stepping back into board roles - intentionally - can sharpen your perspective as a founder.

Because you:

✅ See how other leaders tackle the same challenges.
✅ Spot blind spots in your own leadership.
✅ Return to your business with clarity, not noise.

Focus still matters.

But so does fresh perspective.

Google is moving

The new Gemini 2.5 “Computer Use” model 

can literally use Chrome like a person 

click, scroll, type, the lot.

I know others have already got to this 

(thinking Comet, Claude, GenSpark etc)

But

Google owns Chrome !!

So they’ve got decades of real user behaviour data to train on. 

That’s an advantage no one else has.

Very curious (and a bit excited) to see where this goes.

Google just seem to be slowly chipping away

and is coming for the likes of Perplxity

That's what's happening at Accenture, according to its CEO

Here’s what that tells me:

👉 Leadership isn’t just about empathy.
👉 It’s about urgency.
👉 And that is going to mean making tough calls.

Lesson:
Upskilling is a leadership responsibility - but it's not an indefinite lifeline.

The reality?
Not everyone will keep pace.
And not every role will survive transformation.
