Who’s in your golden circle?

Jack Eldridge put it perfectly.

A lot of great things can happen if you’ve got 50 brilliant senior leaders in your niche who:

Start finding the 50 people who can change the trajectory of your career.

Doubling your average deal size could literally be just a few decisions away.

One consistent strategy I took from my recent trip to the States?

Top performers are intentional about working in markets with higher average fees.

And when I sat down with Michael Green, he had a great story on this.

He took his average fee from $30K to $70K+.

Here’s how...

For years, he worked in the US IT market: consistent $25K–$30K fees, strong performance, great reputation.

But deep down, he felt there had to be more.

That moment came at a RecruitHub founder meetup in Austin.

He sat there listening to founders talk about their average fees: $100K, $150K, even $250K.

Michael’s first reaction?

What? How is that even possible?

He spent the next two days asking every question he could.

And one line from Edmund Blogg stuck with him:

“You do realise that in your market, you can do that too.”

He flew home, spent Saturday mapping a new plan, and by Monday had completely pivoted his market strategy.

No more chasing $30K roles.

He committed to targeting senior positions in his niche: VPs and C-suite.

He focused on states with higher salaries and cost of living: moving from Texas to New York and California.

And he doubled down on industries that spend heavily on tech and are going through modernisation: hedge funds, private equity, and financial services.

Same recruiter.

Same skill set.

Completely different outcomes.

Within a few months, his average fee jumped from $30K to $70K+.

Not by working harder, but by playing smarter.

And that’s the bigger lesson here.

The recruiters winning big in the States aren’t chasing random jobs.

They’re intentional about where their effort compounds.

Sometimes doubling your billings isn’t about doing more.

It’s about deciding where you play.

Don’t overlook this.
