Part of my role at Dot Property was to manage real estate agent and developer client accounts and identifying up-sell opportunities. 

Solving problems in a quick and efficient manner either for users or clients. I worked closely with the IT team on daily basis identifying issues on the website and testing new updates.

I was also involved with the production and distribution of Thailand Property Magazine (10,000 copies nation wide). I did weekly research and put together ideas for our blog and news. This was combined into a weekly online newsletter which I sent out on weekly basis to over 100,00 people on our data base. 

Big part of my job was to manage all English social media channels and marketing - Facebook with over 100,000 likes, Twitter, Pinterest and Instagram. I was in charge of our marketing calendar for our clients which involved scheduled social media posts and personalized email marketing blasts on daily/weekly basis. 

Other duties included booking travel, various research and projects done for the CEO and MD of the company, general admin, sales and marketing support.

As a volunteer worker for Jungle Aid, previously known as Connect3E, I was responsible for collecting donations in the form of food, money, clothes, toys etc. I was also involved with documenting the trips to the remote villages through photography. On each trip we went to a different village on the border of Burma and Thailand bringing donations such as food, water, clothes, toys, books and also basic medical care provided by a certified nurse.  During my time with the organization I also organized a photo exhibition to raise funds and awareness of the charity.

"How long should my business name be?"

Well, the shorter, the better! 

We are bombarded with approximately 10,000 ads every single day. 

That's a lot of information competing for our attention!

You have a teeny-tiny window to make a lasting impression on people. 

And trust me, if your business name is as long as a shopping list, it's going to be harder than learning rocket science for people to remember you and your business.

A long brand name puts a massive squeeze on the visual side of your branding as well. 

The more words you pack in, the tougher it gets to design an eye-catching logo. It's like trying to fit an elephant in a phone booth. Not pretty, folks!

But wait, there's more! 

A lengthy name will cramp your style across various platforms. 

It won't fit well in those social media handles, domain names, email addresses, or other online marketing channels.

Do you really want inconsistent branding and play a hide-and-seek game with your potential customers? I don't think so!

So here's a golden rule for building a memorable brand: 

Steer clear of business names that resemble epic novels. 

Stick to two or three words in total. 

Simple, sweet, and memorable!

And here's a bonus nugget of wisdom: 

Your business name (logo) doesn't have to be a twin of your registered business name. 

Remember, peeps, the name of the game is short, snappy, and unforgettable.

"I'd love to learn how you have done it! I am happy to pay for your time."

Last week I received this message from a connection who was eager to learn about my LinkedIn journey…

…and get this - the person was even happy to pay for my time! 

At first, I was like, "Wait, what?" 

"Someone, is actually willing to pay me for this? Do I even have enough value to share for it to be worth their money?" 

It was a mental battle for me to decide whether or not to take the call, but in the end, I decided to go for it. 

If it's a total fail, I can always just not charge for it!

But it went well. 

Even better than I could have imagined. 

The person on the other end was incredibly happy with the conversation.

And they sent me the loveliest email: "Big thank you again for all the insights, tips, ideas, transparency, and more. It’s been really helpful and genuinely enjoyable."

After receiving this, I could relax and reflect. 

I'm glad I took the call as it was an eye-opening experience that made me realize just how valuable my knowledge truly is. 

Never underestimate the power of what you know and have experienced. 

You never know who you might inspire or how you might make a difference in someone else's journey.

"Why don't you start a design agency?"

I get asked this every now and again.

And my answer is always the same. 

No, thank you...

I dont want to;

❌ - build an empire
❌ - be in charge of other people's livelihood
❌ - spend my life in back-to-back meetings
❌ - worry about the work being delivered on time
❌ - deal with issues caused by other people

What I do want is;

✅ - make decent money that allows me to live life the way I want to
✅ - work on my terms 
✅ -  have the flexibility to work from where I want to and when I want to
✅ - travel as much and when I want to
✅ - no time zone restrictions

While building a business has its advantages, and is seen as the ultimate success story, it is not for me.

For me, freedom and peace of mind are more important, than anything else.

This might change in the future, but for now, having the freedom to do what I want and how I want is what I see as success.

We are our own worst critic...

On Wednesday I sat on a stage with 5 creators from LinkedIn and all I could think of was 'Why am I here?'...

My inner critic was going wild.

Every time I spoke, I thought I sounded like a bumbling mess.

I felt like a fish out of water.

However, the absolute opposite was true. 

Once I got off the stage I heard only compliments. 

People told me how well I did, and how impressed they were that it was my first time speaking on a stage. 

It made me realise how much my inner critic is fueled by my own fears and anxieties.

The biggest takeaway from this experience was that I have to be kinder to myself.

I must learn to recognize my own negative self-talk and take steps to overcome it instead of letting it wreak havoc in my head. 

I'm confident that the majority of us could improve in this area...

The hidden downside of being your own boss that deserves more attention... Drumroll, please!

Let's talk about overcommitment.

As freelancers, the more projects we juggle, the more cash we rake in. It's like hitting the jackpot!

We strive to complete our tasks faster than the speed of light, leaving our clients overjoyed and begging for more of our genius. 

And what do we do? 

We gladly oblige, taking on even more work because, hey, who needs sleep anyway?

But here's the thing: we end up chucking our precious boundaries straight into the rubbish bin. 

Suddenly, we find ourselves working insane hours and chasing deadlines.

It's a vicious cycle, my friends, and if left unchecked, it can turn us into sleep-deprived, coffee-addicted zombies.

And guess what? 

Yours truly fell right into that trap last week. 

I mean, who needs a personal life when you can have the thrilling adventure of burning the midnight oil? 

It was quite a "special" experience after a long, long time.

❌ 6 hours of sleep a night. 
❌ Working 14-16 hours a day. 
❌ Not leaving the house in 5 days.
❌ No time to post on LinkedIn or engage. 
❌ No time to respond to emails or DMs.
❌ Not time for myself. 
❌ Having to push some client work to next week. (Thank F for my lovely understanding clients!)
❌ Constant anxiety over the amount of work I had to complete. 

Last week served as a glorious reminder that I need to firmly stick to my boundaries. 

I have this insatiable urge to conquer the world, taking on every project that comes my way, and delivering them with the speed of caffeinated Flash.

However, the reality is that it's only me, myself, and I running this show. 

Sometimes, I have to summon the courage to say "no" to projects if the client can't work with my timelines.

So, my fellow freelancers, let's raise a virtual toast to the perils of overcommitment and the art of balancing our workload without sacrificing our sanity.

This is a reminder to myself and all of you, that it's okay to hit the pause button and prioritize our own well-being sometimes.

Do you ever find yourself thinking, "I don't have much value to share"?

Trust me, I've been there too, and it's easy to underestimate ourselves. 

I'm just a little ol graphic designer, what do I know right?

But here's the thing: each of us holds a treasure trove of unique experiences that can inspire others in unimaginable ways.

I recently woke up to an email that put the biggest smile on my face. 

It was from someone who had booked a 1:1 consultation call with me just last week.

They poured their heart out, expressing how our conversation had made a profound impact on their perspective. 

It was like waking up to a beautifully wrapped present, except instead of a gift card, it was an email overflowing with gratitude and appreciation.

I didn't do or say anything profound during this call.

I listened, I shared my story and I offered my ideas and advice. 

It might have been simple from my point of view, but it was life-changing for the person on the other end of the call.

Remember that we all have stories worth sharing. 

And a single story you don't think much of can have a huge impact on someone else. 

Embrace the quirks and twists of your journey, because you never know whose day you might brighten or whose life you might inspire.

I get bored pretty easily, and working with only one type of client just doesn't do it for me. 

Plus, designing for different industries keeps me on my toes and helps me level up my skills faster.

✅ and aren't working in an industry that makes me question my morals...

What are some of your favorite things when it comes to being a freelancer? 

For me?

It's the fact that I do not have to play office politics in order to increase my income or progress my career. 

I don't have to fit into anyone's mold. 

I don't have to have the 'how was your weekend?' conversation 100 times a day each Monday. 🙄

I don't have to wear stuffy clothes in order to 'look professional'.

And I certainly don't have to work overtime for no extra pay and pray to the corporate gods for a raise and recognition. 

My income and career are both dependent on me and my skill set, and not on someone else. 

And to me thats the ultimate freedom and success.

P.S Being able to fire clients who stress me out is also a huge bonus.

Around this time last year, I nearly blocked Luke.

A lot of his content was annoying the hell out of me. 

I often thought "HOW DARE YOU, you pretentious douche!"

But his content also made me chuckle, so I somehow got over my offended self and kept him on my feed. 

To my utmost astonishment, with time we actually managed to form a friendship.

Even though It was primarily built upon hurling insults at one another.

We found a common language.

This insult exchange eventually also blossomed into a somewhat functional working relationship.
