Within the people (HR) function, reported to the EVP of People and was responsible for:
- Budget planning ($MM) and board content for quarterly meetings, annual and five year strategy cycle; including prioritization, pacing and long-term financial planning for a total HR transformation 
- Team effectiveness and department communication strategies; executive level strategy sessions, war rooms, scorecards, department town halls, etc. 
- Started and influenced multiple initiatives on behalf of WestJet to improve financial management, long-term orientation, business acumen, talent retention and project execution

Executive Advisor to the People and Culture team

Within the finance function, led talent strategy and elevated the global logistics organization to support our corporate transformation and pivot from a point to point carrier to a global network airline. 

Leading leaders, and a broader team between Calgary and Toronto, with specialized professionals in compliance, customs, logistics, hazardous products, and operations management.

Manager - Global Logistics

Responsible for a team of professionals in finance who review, correct and test Travel Agency payment and audit solutions. Inspired the team through a massive period of change and shift in commercial strategies, commissions structures and technology builds/implementations.

- Developed talent strategy and created a high development and learning focused team; improving engagement, retention and applicant strength. 
- Vendor and relationship management globally through Canada, US, Brazil, India and Portugal. 
- Leading multiple system development, sourcing and implementation activities, resulting in compressed delivery cycles, improved productivity, and the selection of an AI audit partner which improved volume and accuracy.

Manager - Travel Agency Payment Services

Within the commercial function, direct reporting team of 40 remote working and campus Contact Centre Agents.
Team elevated performance metrics 10 places in six months with strong talent strategy in place.
Consultation, design and content build of contact centre specific leadership mentorship program to address talent pipeline.

-Project Manager People team including a corporate wide recognition program launch: RFP to contract close for 12,000 employees.

Life has a way of flying by if you let it. 

It seems contradictory, but doing more actually has a way of slowing life down. 

Adding more core memories to your bank creates additional milestones along the way to remember when you look back in reflection. 

Taking pictures and later looking at them further reinforces this. By solidifying the memory and giving you additional boosts of dopamine by: 1) experiencing the moment, 2) taking the photo 3) later looking at it. 

👆 This is not just my observations or nonsensical ramblings, but concrete findings from Neuroscience. 


So write your story, and set your pace. 

The more you do that is alignment with your values, goals and heart - the better you might be. 

The less you do, the less energy you'll have to do it (some exclusions apply). 

Do the thing.

These images are powerful and speak for themselves, but I would remiss if I didn't say what I think about them, to make my stance clear. 

Humans all deserve love, acceptance and the choice to be who they are, and with whoever they want. 

There are so many places around the world that are not safe to publicly identify as transgender, let alone show up in any aspect of the LGBTQ+ community. The US included (and increasingly so). 

Be an ally. Stand up and support your loved ones, friends and colleagues. 

It is not enough to say nothing. Say something to help the people in your orbit feel not only loved, but supported and accepted too. 

Not just today on Transgender Day of Visibility, but all days.

The ability to edit AI produced images directly in Chat Gpt is a game changer. Looking forward to playing with this later. 

That said, I think it is equally important (and critically so) to say how important it is that we all proceed with caution, integrity and our ethics at the forefront as a species with this rapidly advancing technology. 

Slowly and then suddenly, we may not recognize the digital landscape - and this has the potential to accelerate the damaging effects of capitalism (love it or hate it, there are harmful side effects to people and the planet). 

My advice: Stay true to your values, and simultaneously learn as much as you can to stay relevant in the long game.

Here are three tips from the airport on my trip home: ✈️

1) Be kind to the people in line, and helping you get to where you're going. A fist fight almost broke out at check-in as someone nearly assaulted the Customer Service Agent at the counter. This resulted in the cops being called, and their name likely being added to a travel blacklist (yes, these really exist). 🚫👎

2) Help others with inclusion in mind. Whether through clear airport signage (like the photo below) or by helping others when they need it. There are lots of little ways to do this, including moving seats when someone with accessibility devices need it - or letting a parent with a distressed child skip the bathroom or food line. ♿️🍼

3) Bring a refillable waterbottle to avoid spending $6, or having to wait for service on the plane. A little effort goes a long way to help the planet - with over 700k bottles saved from this single fountain alone. 🚰👍
