🏠➡️🇫🇷 Coming back home is never easy; the transition can hit harder than expected.

Returning to France after five transformative years in Singapore has been a journey of unexpected challenges and profound learning. 

Despite the familiarity of home, reintegrating into a country presents unique hurdles, especially when you’ve grown accustomed to an entirely different lifestyle, professional environment, and set of habits overseas.

In Singapore, being French-Tunisian had its unique perks; we were a distinct few. I recall a moment in a 7-11 when someone who became a friend asked, "Are you Tunisian?"—a testament to the simplicity of making connections there. 🌏✨ Back in France, the sense of standing out morphs; here, blending in is the norm, and distinguishing oneself demands a different set of traits.

T͟h͟e͟ ͟m͟a͟i͟n͟ ͟c͟h͟a͟l͟l͟e͟n͟g͟e͟s͟ ͟I͟ ͟f͟a͟c͟e͟d͟

𝗟𝗶𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘁𝘆𝗹𝗲 Paris and its suburbs have changed, familiar places that once felt like home have changed or disappeared, making the process of readjusting to the city's rhythm both nostalgic and disorienting.

𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 My career thus far has been built abroad, with only internships in France to my name. Entering the French job market full-time poses its own set of challenges, from cultural nuances in the workplace to establishing a professional network from scratch.

𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁𝘀 Living in Singapore has undoubtedly shaped my daily routines, from the way I socialize to my work ethic. Adapting these habits to fit back into French society without losing the essence of what I've learned is a delicate balance.


This journey back home has been a testament to the saying, "You can never step into the same river twice." My time abroad has changed me, just as France has evolved in my absence. Reintegrating is not just about coming back but finding ways to weave my new self into the fabric of a familiar yet changed homeland.

To those of you who are anticipating a similar transition, know that it's a real challenge, and I will try my best to share more about it in the future.

If I Could Turn Back Time: Unpacking the Real Talk from My Start-up Journey.

In the spirit of reflection and growth, I'm Diving into a weekly series to share insights I wish I could have given my 2019 self when I first ventured into Entrepreneur First.

While success stories often capture our attention, there’s profound value in the lessons from our less triumphant moments. This week, I'm focusing on the underestimated power of building in public and nurturing a personal brand. 🛠️

The adage, "People don't buy what you do, they buy why you do it," sounds bull*** but holds more truth than I initially believed. 
Early on, my priority was solely product development, mistakenly viewing personal branding and public engagement as distractions. This perspective couldn’t have been further from the truth.

On the rare occasions I shared our journey, the response was unexpectedly positive, drawing interest from industry leaders curious about our work. This was a revelation, especially as a newcomer in the music industry, where I often battled the impostor syndrome, fearing a lack of legitimacy to speak on certain topics.

However, your passion and the story behind your venture often outweigh the need for expert status. This realization led me to ponder what topics could authentically represent our journey without crossing into the realm of oversharing or triviality.

Some areas I wish I'd explored more openly include:

1. The dynamics and challenges of finding a co-founder at Entrepreneur First.
2. The intricacies of fundraising and how we allocated resources towards product development.
3. Lessons from our hiring missteps (a topic I’ll delve into in chapter 3) 📖.
4. Navigating the complexities of managing a start-up and team across continents during COVID.
5. Confronting the isolation that often accompanies the entrepreneurial journey.

And there’s much more I plan to unpack in future discussions.

My advice? Share your journey, the highs and the lows, without drama but with transparency and authenticity. Your story, your resilience, and your vision are what truly resonate with others. 💡

So perhaps a more fitting expression is, "People buy what you do because 𝗬𝗢𝗨 are doing it." ✨

As long as you don't disrupt the usual coffee break ☕ I am fine :)
