Hurtigruten

I helped Hurtigruten generate $100+ million in new e-commerce revenue.

I joined Hurtigruten just before they launched their online booking platform. I started out on the testing team, and then quickly moved into the e-commerce role. Working at Hurtigruten during these 3 years was a lot of fun - we had a great international team, who were all extremely talented and experts in digital marketing.

Together, we launched a B2B and consumer-driven booking engine (in several languages), growing the e-commerce channel from $3 million in 2009 to $41 million in 2010 and then $67 million in 2011 - with one improvement alone contributing to a $15 million increase in sales.

I took up a side-project/ consulting role at Gengo early on, back when they were MyGengo. I was hired to work on their search marketing strategy, help with their rebranding to Gengo and improve the number of sign ups and translation requests on the site.

Although organic traffic and sign ups did increase (100%+) I wasn't there long enough to make a real long-term impact. But, it was a fantastic experience as I was able to visit their Tokyo office (twice), experience a completely new culture and I really enjoyed working with co-founders Matt and Rob.

Working at NordicBet was my first major role in digital marketing. Not only was I responsible for managing content on the site, but it was at NordicBet that I learned how to write marketing copy for email campaigns and website promotions.

Towards the end of my career at NordicBet, I became responsible for SEO and web analytics (this was back when SEO was under the IT department). Using Google Analytics and Google Search Console helped me understand prospect and customer website behaviour and introduced me to the concept of data-driven marketing.

My role at Entraction was to manage the global content on more than 100 websites within the network and to manage the translation process for more than 25 languages. it was also the first time I ever made an update to a live website (terrifying!).

In addition to the content, I worked with email customer service, implemented the Cisco/ eGain email management system and set up/ maintained their customer support knowledge base.

In the last 2 years, I created the SEO and content strategy for a B2B SaaS that contributed to their $40 million acquisition .

Previously, led the growth of e-commerce sales at Hurtigruten from $3 million to $65 million per year.

I'm a three-time nominee for "Best SEO Campaign", twice for "Best SEO Team", twice for "Best Content Marketing Campaign" and once for "Best SEO Agency" at the Global/ US/ EU Search Awards.

I hold the unofficial record for fastest Google manual penalty removal for a banned website (lifted within 3 weeks) and the first documented recovery for a website penalized by the Google Medic update.
