Humaniti helps consumers by providing a budgeting tool & cash for surveys.  It helps our customers by providing data insights.

I was Humaniti's first technical hire where I built the dev. team from scratch.  We released MVP (desktop) in 5 months, and then added mobile (iOS & Android) 6 weeks later.

Next phase was to take ownership of our internal processes and procedures.  I implement traditional Software Development practices (SCRUM etc.) and fill the product pipeline.

From there my focus was on scale & growth - increase velocity (more features more often) while reducing bug count,

Tech stack is AWS, Python, Angular & ionic with Postgres & Snowflake.

HR functions included recruitment and defining personal & team KPI's.

10 head count including Dev, Support & QA.

How great product descriptions are not difficult

Most people write their production descriptions like this:

The British Shorthair is a breed of domestic cat known for its sturdy build, dense coat, and round face. They are different from other breeds in their stocky body shape, short coat, and large, round eyes, giving them a distinctive appearance.

Your customers don't care.

On the weekend, I took these photos in a local pet store. What caught my eye is that they described what this cat will do for its new owner:

- An extremely affection breed
- That shows you unconditional love


Describe what the product will do for your customers (affection breed with unconditional love) not what the product features (sturdy build with dense coat)

(All) social media platforms have a common goal - to get you to stay on the platform as long as possible.

One reason why I prefer LinkedIn is that their revenue isn't primarily from feed advertising.


3 ways to instantly improve your feed:

• View someone's profile and click "follow"
You'll see more of that person, instead of some random Gary V. post.  Same process to unfollow someone you're sick of seeing

• Interact in the comments
Avoid the cliche "great post, appreciate you sharing".  It's tired and boring and meaningless.

What did you like about it?  (Get specific.)  Why do you disagree?  Phrased respectfully, LinkedIn is great at having ideas pulled apart.

• Click "like"
If nothing else, you're telling LinkedIn "This is good".  Guess what LinkedIn will show you more of?

I’m not a good writer

It’s like saying “I’m not good at math”

Sure, you might not enjoy maths. You probably had a bad experience at school with math. And you may have made some a bad investment or choice over time.

But does this stop you? Do you stop spending? Do you not drive a car because you can’t figure out if you have enough petrol?

Of course not!

You use skills and techniques to overcome this. You have your phone, there’s a million online calculators to figure out whatever you’re trying to figure out or even use Excel.


Writing is the same.

We use:
Hooks to grab attention
Have a point to make / a story to tell
Be consicse, don’t waste your reader’s time
