Stop preparing.

The most underrated leadership hack I've discovered?
Hiring people smarter than me.

I used to think being the smartest person in the room meant I was winning. 
Classic leader ego, right? 

Then I hired my first salesperson who could sell better than me. 
My first marketer who understood growth in ways I couldn't grasp. 
My first designer who saw problems I didn't even know existed.

That's when everything changed.

Hands shaking. Voice cracking. Nearly ran for the exit.

Consider this...

Most people quit after 5 rejections.
I collected them like trophies.

Most speakers cancel when they feel sick.
I threw up and went on anyway.

Most writers need validation to continue.
I wrote into the void for YEARS.

Here's what "lucky" people actually do:

They fail in private.
They cry in private.
They doubt in private.
They nearly quit in private.

Then they show up in public.
Again. And again. And again.

You see my 164,000 followers.
You don't see the 10 years of daily posts.

You see my keynote success.
You don't see me shaking backstage.

You see my bestselling books.
You don't see the 327 practice runs.

So next time you're about to call someone "lucky"...

Ask yourself:
How many times did they fail while you were sleeping?
How many nos did they collect while you were comfortable?
How many fears did they face while you were making excuses?

Because here's the uncomfortable truth:

The distance between "unlucky" and "lucky" isn't measured in outcomes, but in attempts.

Mistake 4: Trying to sound like someone else

Someone reads a viral post.
Copies the style.
Wonders why it flops.

Here's why:

Your audience followed YOU.
Not your Gary Vee impression.
Not your Simon Sinek knockoff.

Authenticity isn't just nice to have.
It's your competitive advantage.

Mistake 5: Creating content randomly instead of strategically

Monday morning: "What should I post?"

Random content = random results.
Strategic content = predictable growth.

You need:
- Themes that resonate with your audience
- A mix of content types
- Consistent value delivery
- Data-driven decisions

Not "I feel like writing about this today."

Here's my challenge:

8 years ago today I made the biggest (and scariest) decision of my life and quit my job to start my own business...

Today I'm holding the photo that started everything.

See that scared face in the old photo?
That was me walking away from guaranteed income.
From a company car, shares, bonuses. 
From the "sensible" path everyone understood.

I remind myself of that day as often as I can.

My manager thought I was joking.
My wife wasn't convinced I could make it work.
My bank account had 6 months of runway.

But something inside me knew:

Playing it safe was actually the biggest risk.

Every year you stay comfortable, someone hungrier is building their empire.
Every day you delay, your dreams get a little quieter.
Every excuse you make becomes a little more permanent.

8 years later?

But here's what nobody tells you about quitting:

The fear doesn't disappear.

Add in a wife and 2 young kids to support, the pressure was a lot.

Here's what fear taught me:

Fear of failure? Made me obsess over delivering value.
Fear of poverty? Made me work harder than ever.
Fear of regret? Made me push through every obstacle.

So to everyone staring at their own "I QUIT" moment:

Your fear is real. Honor it.
Your concerns are valid. Plan for them.
Your doubts make sense. Use them.

But don't let them stop you.

Because 8 years from now, you could be holding your own "before" photo.

Smiling at how scared you were.
Grateful you did it anyway.

It doesn't have to be quitting your job.
It could be starting a side hustle.
It could be going for a promotion.
It could be learning a new skill.
It could be going for that dream client.

The only difference between a dream and reality?
The courage to hold up your own sign.

Even when your hands are shaking.

Especially when your hands are shaking.
