A super unpopular opinion many are not going to agree: Just because someone works/worked at YouTube/Instagram doesn't mean they understand Content Creation & Content strategy. Just like there's a difference between working for the Treasury & Running a Business. #BusinessOfDesign #AgencyLife #BrandBuilding #SyqiStateOfMind
If AI was your main site visitor, how would you change your content? Imagine a world where your website's main visitors aren't human. They're AI agents. I'm sure we've been hearing this term a lot lately. As AI agents begin to interact with websites on a large scale, we're moving towards a future where the bulk of internet traffic isn't driven by human clicks, but by algorithms. It's a shift that's both fascinating and mind-boggling. The implications for marketers, designers, and business leaders are massive. Here's what we would need to consider: Content for Machines → Content isn't just for human eyes anymore. ↳ We need to start thinking about how our content can be interpreted and utilised by AI. SEO Evolution → Traditional SEO tactics may no longer suffice. ↳ How do you optimise for machines that read differently from humans? Data Handling → AI will collect and process data at unprecedented speeds. ↳ Are our data systems ready for that kind of influx? Security Concerns → With AI agents interacting with our sites, security becomes even more crucial. ↳ How do we safeguard our digital assets from automated threats? This isn't just about adapting. It's about accepting a paradigm shift in how we design, market, and protect our digital spaces. Been thinking about how we overcomplicate business opportunities lately! The best cash-flowing businesses aren’t usually revolutionary new ideas - they’re just existing solutions repackaged to feel natural for a specific group. Notion didn’t invent docs, they just made them feel natural to startup teams. Superhuman didn’t invent email, they just made it feel natural to power users. Deel didn’t invent payroll, they just made it feel natural for global teams. I keep seeing founders chase these massive, complex innovations when the real opportunity is often just “X, but actually nice to use for Y people.
Why are so many YC companies pivoting from B2C to B2B? Just saw a "media company" pivoted to "copilot for law firms" and both the sectors are poles apart. They got in during S24, if someone has so much conviction on a product and it doesn't work, they end up building a new product in the same space because they'd have enough understanding of the space by then. Does it mean that people just apply to YC with fancy ideas to get in and later pivot to building B2B unsexy SaaS, which actually makes money?
Top brands with successful design strategies chase business metrics, more than content or marketing metrics. They don’t create content thinking how much traffic it’ll get. But “how” it’ll drive the company’s larger business goals. And this makes all the difference.
The “Client vs. Creative” narrative is one of my least favorite things about SM. You’ve seen it - the complaints about feedback, Frustration about ‘wasted’ time on new business calls, or the classic “ugh, they want to make the logo.............”
I've seen under the hood of at least 50+ businesses ranging from $0 to $150 million in revenue over the past 5 years. Here's what I've learned: → Every single one of them is messy. → Drama? It's more common than we think. → Dumpster fires? They have their fair share too. → They all worry about competitors, thinking they're more organised. 90% of building a business from scratch isn't glamorous. Yet, what do we see online? 90% of the posts highlight the shiny 10% that is. It's easy to get lost in the perception game. We see the polished surface of others and feel inadequate. But it's not productive. Instead of letting this occupy your mental space, we gotta focus on what truly matters. Here's what we can control: WE GOTTA CLEAN OUR OWN HOUSE! ↳ Tackle those internal messes - Address the drama. ↳ Don't let it fester - Identify your fires. ↳ Put them out, one by one - Stop comparing. ↳ Your journey is unique. It's not about being perfect. It's about progress. Every business, big or small, has its challenges. The key is to not shy away from them. #BusinessOfDesign #BrandBuilding #ProductDesign #SyqiStateOfMind #AgencyLife
Some of the best minds in the industry are coming together to talk about growth, strategy, and everything GTM tomorrow. With hands-on workshops, speakers who actually have something to say, and a room full of people worth meeting - it’s shaping up to be a must-attend event. Huge shoutout to Jofin and his amazing team for putting this together! If you're a founder looking to scale, this is where you want to be. #GTM #Startups #Scaling
If you want your product to stick, you should rise above from the functional to the emotional. To do this, cater to your users: • motivations • references • limitations • context • beliefs That's what truly understanding the UX means. #BusinessOfDesign #UX #AgencyLife #SyqiStateOfMind
This hits super hard! In business, it's often the little actions that make the biggest impact. They compound over time, shaping the very foundation of success. Learned some simple but powerful habits: - Triple-checking your work. - Meeting deadlines (or even better, beating them). - Actually doing what you say you'll do. REPLYING TO EMAILS LIKE A HUMAN, NOT A ROBOT! These might not sound glamorous, but they have worked for me. Little things are the bedrock of everything else. When you nail the basics, the rest tends to follow: // Start each day by getting stuff done. // Keep yourself around people who'll call you on your nonsense. // Accept that life isn't fair (you'll fail, a lot). // Gotta take risks (calculated ones, not foolish ones). // Step up when everyone else is running away. // Face down the bullies. // Help the underdogs. // Respect everyone. NEVER GIVE UP! As they say, make your bed. It's the first step to build your business the right way. And if your day goes to hell, at least you'll come home to a made bed. :D #BusinessOfDesign #AgencyLife #Entrepreneurship #SyqiStateOfMind #DesignLife
The fastest way to look like an amateur is to have your brand resemble five different companies. Yet this happens to growing startups constantly: - One designer uses two shades of blue - Marketing team crops the logo a different way - The product team experiments with new fonts. That’s why brand guidelines matter. They keep your visuals, messaging, and identity aligned, so your brand stays recognizable, credible, and scalable. As your company grows, so should your brand's consistency. #BusinessOfDesign #BrandBuilding #SyqiStateOfMind #DesignConsistency #AgencyLife
I once had a job interview for a PM sorta position. They gave me a sheet of paper and asked me to come up with 3 product ideas in 30 minutes and then pitch them. In the end, I didn't get the job. They said 'These ideas don't seem very well thought through' No shit Sherlock XD
The only direction to go is up ↑↑ Building a product or a brand (mostly together) is a journey of constant evolution. Every day, we've faced new challenges, evolving trends, and ever-changing customer expectations. In this landscape, standing still isn't just stagnation - it's regression. As someone who's been navigating the twists and turns of running Syqi , I've developed a blueprint that's been working for us: Feedback is your fuel • Seek it out - from clients, team, even critics • It's not just about praise; constructive criticism is gold Curiosity is your compass • Stay hungry for knowledge • Workshops, articles, industry chats - soak it all in Boldness is your paintbrush • Don't just color inside the lines • Take risks, test wild ideas - that's where innovation blooms Goals are your North Star • Set clear, measurable objectives • They're your map in the creative wilderness Collaboration is your superpower • Two heads? Try ten! • Brainstorm, debate, create together UX is your true client • Remember who you're really designing for • Make it intuitive, engaging, problem-solving Reflection is your secret weapon • Regularly look back to move forward • Be ready to pivot when needed Gotta keep it moving! #BusinessOfDesign #SyqiStateOfMind #BrandBuilding #ProductDesign
They say users prioritise features over looks. But they actually value neither. What they truly want is to feel understood. As a founder in design, I've seen this often. It's not so much about the color palette-features. It's the seamless experience that meets their needs. Here's how to bridge the understanding gap: Empathy at the Core → Immerse in their world. → Build with them, not for them. → Grasp their challenges and pain points. Ask the Right Questions → Don't just ask what features they want; ask why. → This uncovers the real issues they're solving. → It leads to meaningful solutions. Iterative Feedback (Unskippable) → Engage users throughout design. → Gather feedback at every stage. → Adapt based on their insights. Storytelling (Ofcourse) → Craft relatable narratives. → Make them feel part of something bigger. → This bond is stronger than features or aesthetics. Gotta FOCUS ON FEELINGS! → Make users feel understood, valued, heard. → Design should evoke emotions. → Such a design is a winning design. Gotta focus on connecting with our users. That's everything to a true design success. That's how we do at Syqi! #BusinessOfDesign #BrandBuilding #ProductDesign #AgencyLife #SyqiStateOfMind
Dear designers, ever heard the phrase: Focus on user needs because the user doesn't care about all the cool stuff? Smile and let it pass. Here's why. Utilitarian design is like a plain, unseasoned dish. Sure, it fills the belly, but does it delight the senses? Design shouldn't be just about function; it should be an experience. Users appreciate the extra effort you put into making your product beautiful. Here's a reality check: Tasteless, utilitarian design results in uninspiring products. Such products won't even pass a simple logo swap test. Where's the brand's soul? The truth is, delight lies in the small details. User needs can be met and solved effectively while doing cool stuff. Yes, usability is crucial, but so is aesthetic pleasure. Creating beauty in design isn't about ignoring user needs. It's about merging utility with creativity. All we need is some white, black, and blue on the UI. This is a sad excuse to cover up a lack of creativity and taste. Gotta make our design pop! Three actionable steps we make sure of at Syqi: - Inject personality in every element - Focus on microinteractions - Tailor typography to your audience Design is the silent ambassador of your brand. Next time someone belittles the beauty in your design, let your work speak for itself. #BusinessOfDesign #ProductConsistency #DesignThinking #AgencyLife #SyqiStateOfMind
24 months ago, our agency was drowning in revision requests. Now we nail designs in the first round. How did we make this transformation? Here are 5 client communication hacks that changed everything: SET CLEAR EXPECTATIONS FROM DAY 1 → Before even putting pen to paper, we ensure our clients understand what we can deliver. → This means agreeing on timelines, deliverables, and even the number of revisions upfront. LISTEN MORE THAN YOU TALK → It's easy to jump into solution mode, but listening to clients’ needs first is crucial. → Understanding their vision fully before offering suggestions helps align our designs with their expectations. ALWAYS USE VISUAL EXAMPLES → Words can be misinterpreted, but visuals are universal. → We share mood boards and draft sketches early on to ensure our ideas are on track. REGULAR FEEDBACK LOOPS → Instead of waiting until the end of a project to get feedback, we check in regularly. → This ensures any adjustments needed are minor and manageable. **EDUCATE YOUR CLIENTS → Many clients aren’t designers, so we take the time to explain our processes and decisions. → This builds trust and helps clients feel more involved in the project. These hacks didn't just minimize revision requests; they built stronger client relationships and increased our team's efficiency. Syqi #BusinessOfDesign #BrandBuilding #SyqiStateOfMind #AgencyLife
Career paths aren’t linear progressions. They’re complex graphs of relationships, often invisible until you step back and map them. Each node represents not just a job or a skill, but a person who took a chance, offered guidance, or simply showed up at the right moment. Never underestimate the value of real connections - even in the "remote" world.
