Don't start your DM with: "Hope this message finds you well”

It has never found anyone well. Try this instead: 

1. Relevant + Good Timing + Personalised
• 2-4 sentences max. It's a DM, not an email.
• Personalise the 1st and the last line of your DM.

2. Value + Social Proof
• Show the Status QUO is not desirable by focusing on Cost of Inaction
• Add social proof with an example of a similar company = build trust faster

3. End strongly
• End with ONE clear yes/no call-to-action.
• Be super specific about what you’re asking for (don't ask the meeting)

This formula will get you a response: 

Name - <observation>, <value>. <social proof> + <risk reversal>. <CTA>.

Some good openers examples:

• Artur - your CEO <name> mentioned on a pod...
• Matt - saw in your <name of the report>...
• Yurii - despite 293k visits in October...

Outbound isn’t dead. Your system is. I fix that.

Viral posts don't pay my bills.

40 DMs a day do. Here’s my system:

I don't chase likes, i seek to send DMs to my profile viewers/post engagers.

1. LinkedIn Premium → see who views your profile

- That's warm traffic.
- Most people rarely use it.

2. Pick only people who fit your ICP

- Don't message everyone. LinkedIn’s got DM limits, so play safe.
- Pick the right 40 people max who fit your ICP. Quality > volume.

3. Start with a simple DM

- Skip the pitch. Start a conversation. Example:
- “Saw you checked out my profile. Just checking out content or my services?”

4. Switch a mindset from chasing $$$ to building relationships.

- When they respond, dig deeper. Them: "Loved your post yesterday."

Me: "Appreciate it! Yeah, getting a response is tough in 2025. How's it working 
for you right now?"

5. Peel the onion.

Don't rush to pitch. 
Ask more questions.

- So what have you tried?
- Why do you have that feeling?
- What do you think the solution is?
- Why do you think that’s happening?

Because of this simple strategy, my pipeline tripled.

Like ≠ I`M READY TO BUY.

Don’t rush to pitch slap. Try this instead:

1. Like = half of the story.

You gotta know the person behind that like:

- What’s their job?
- What goals are they chasing?
- Are they even your ICP, or just passing by?

2. Track lead engagement

Stop spraying DMs like a Nerf gun at a kid’s party. Be a sniper.

It takes time to build trust, so don’t rush.

I give every prospect a point for each action:

- Like? +1
- Comment? +1
- Profile view? +1
- Interacted with a competitor? +1

When they hit 10 points, I know they’re warm.

I use Common Room to track all this (way better than juggling spreadsheets).

- when prospects switch jobs

3. DM hot leads only + add value.

But, I don’t pitch.

- I try to find a way to help.
- To Start a real convo.

I met my wife thanks to… outbound? 

Yep, true story. Here’s how: 

Saw her on IG once. Wanted to DM her.
But I had no angle - no reason WHY NOW.
Didn’t want to be “just another one in the DMs.”
So I waited.

One month later: 

I’m out with friends.
See her IG story - she’s out too, just 10 minutes away.
Turn to my boys and said: “Change of plans. We’re going there.”

15 min later, we at that restaurant.

She’s with her friends.
One of them goes to the bar.
I followed - pretending to order.
And “accidentally” starter a chit-chat

Started small talk. Turns out: it’s her friend’s birthday.
Then, that same friend introduced me to my wife.

Quick “hi.”
Few words, birthday wishes.
All of the sudden, ABBA comes up on karaoke.
Of course, quick round of singing.
That was it. I dipped. 

Next morning, I just sent her this DM: 

"Hey, we met yesterday at [restaurant] (even sang ABBA). Would love to chat if you're open :)"

She responded. Rest is history. Closed Won.

Most impactful DM I ever sent.

Sales skills that saved "the deal" for me: 

1. Waited for the right trigger (meeting IRL).
TAM was 1. Had to make it count.

2. Used a friend as the connector.
Referrals work - even accidental ones.

Don’t use AI to write your cold email scripts.

It makes you look bad. Here’s why: 

AI does a lot. 

Deep research? (AiSDR)
Enrichment? (Clay)
Drafts? (Twain).

But AI can’t originate. 

It relies heavily on templates and patterns it's seen before.

Also, AI often misses crucial context:

• If they already have a solution like yours
• How your solution fits into the prospect's ecosystem
• Whether your timing makes sense for their business cycle

The most effective cold emails I've seen share these things:

- Clear reason why act now
- micro-stories with social proof
- Relevant, well timed and good offer

Here’s how to use AI + Cold Emails best: 

Use AiSDR (agent) or Clay's agent to: 

1. De-anonymise site visitors
2. Summarise LinkedIn profiles in seconds
3. Find lookalike leads, prep 1st cold email draft

Then, it’s time for you to step in: 

1/ Adapt the cold email draft for you (use Twain)

AI can help. 

But it won’t replace someone who “gets it.”

Cold Email Rewrite

Don’t be an Email Stan. Stop following up like a maniac.

One unconventional strategy that PROs use (steal it): 

1. Rewrite your 1st cold email 
• So much effort went into it, why waste it?
• Try a different subject line and a first sentence
• Chances are they don't remember you at all are high

2. Try different channels (LinkedIn, text, call)
• Email inboxes are super crowded 
• LinkedIn, WhatsApp or simple text messages aren’t
• Use Prospeo.io to find prospects' phone numbers

3. Follow up intentionally, with a good reason why
• Find what the company's goals are by talking to their colleagues
• Use these findings to draft the follow-up “heard ABC is a goal for Q1 25” 
• If the company is public or shares content, use it to build your new angle 

4. Don’t send too many emails
• 1-2 follow-ups after initial email
• No reply - come back in 1-2 months
• Try another 3-4 contacts before you move on

Try that instead of “any thoughts?”

Your cold email should be like a burger.

The first bite has to be so good, prospects want more.

Unfortunately, most emails are gas station sandwiches.

Here's the 8-ingredient recipe to cook up a Michelin Star +15% reply rate:

1. Subject Line (The Bun Top)
- Think boring, think internal. 
- Keep it simple, under 3 words.

2. Opener (The First Bacon Bite)
- Your 1st line should scream "I did my homework."
- Use enrichment tools to find info for a "punchy start" 

3. Relevance (The Cheese)
- Focus on WHY NOW, instead of WHY US
- Work-related reasons always win.

4 Pain Point (The Healthy Stuff)
- Mirror their biggest challenge and reveal the cost of inaction.
- This is the only way to create real urgency.

5. Value (The Pickled Onion)
- Nobody cares about your product/service. 
- Everyone's looking for "what's in it for me”. not “what we do”

6 Social Proof (The Lettuce)  
- Show how you helped similar companies. 
- One specific win beats ten vague claims.

7. Clear CTA (The Meat)
- Make saying "no" easy. 1 yes/no question.
- Reduce friction, build trust.

8. P.S. Section (The Secret Sauce)
- Save personal interests for PS. 
- Let your main email focus on business value.

I don't add notes to connection requests (and you shouldn't either).

This is why 90% of requests get ignored.

Most people accept blank requests. 
Almost nobody accepts requests with generic notes.

Sounds backwards? Here's the psychology:

Weak notes trigger spam filters in people's brains. 

They've seen too many:

"I see we're both in sales" 
“Expanding my network”
"would love to connect".

They know what happens next: 
Accept the request = get another pitch in DMs.

So they don't accept.

The only exception?

A note so specific it couldn't possibly be copy-pasted:

❌ "We share 45 connections"
❌ "I'm into marketing as well"
❌ "Would love to add you to my network"
✅ "Top 25 sales exec in 2025 - has anyone else at Poland been named that before?"

That's not a connection request. It's a conversation starter.

The rule:

Write something impossible to automate, or write nothing at all.

Can't think of anything specific? Send it blank.

What's your take - notes or no notes?

Follow-ups aren’t annoying.

Irrelavant follow-ups are.

Most people send generic, lazy, or irrelevant follow-ups.

Effective follow-ups? They’re:

→ Relevant (show you’ve done your research).
→ Valuable (offer something useful).
→ Persistent (yet respectful).

Here’s how I approach follow-ups: 

1/ Personalization matters. 
Reference their product, case study, recent activity. Show them you’ve done your homework. 

2/ Test multiple angles. 
One email highlights results, another offers free value (like case studies or insights). 

3/ Use yes/no soft CTAs. 
“Are you open?” works better than “Let’s hop on Zoom.” 

4/ Add value. 
Share resources, ideas, or even quick videos explaining how you can help. 

5/ Stay professional but persistent. 
People are busy. Respect their time but keep showing up. 

Example of such a follow up:

"Margaret - saw the news that you're pushing more for agency customers. Bounce grew sales by +6% just from DMing people who viewed their CEO's LinkedIn profile. You're also active on LinkedIn, so I thought sharing it with you could be useful. If you're open, can I share more strategies?

It’s personal.
It’s specific.
It offers value.

Your follow-ups don’t need tricks. They need thought.

It’s like asking for weather during hurricanes.

Here's what I do in days like today:

Cut pleasantries. 

Everyone in tech world feels stressed.

Be relatable:

→ Trigger: “Cloudflare outage reminds how critical vendor diversity is” 
→ News: "It's quite hard to launch new landing when 20% of internet is down"
→ Empathy: "Sorry that your website was down for 3 hours, but I may help you"
→ Humor: “Your website was the only one working today! So, instead of YouTube session I hanged out there a bit and found something interesting..."

Be human. Be relevant. Be real.

Outreach fails otherwise

What’s your go-to opener for cold emails?

Cold Email is not rocket science (stop overthinking it)

The only 5 cold email rules that matter:

1. Hook them with relevance. (Do the research.)
2. Tie it directly to the solution of their top challenge.
3. Break the status quo by highlighting the cost of inaction.
4. Build trust by showing how you helped a similar company fix this.
5. Finish your email with one simple yes/no CTA to spark a conversation.

And if you can do this:
in less than 50 words,
simple language
and zero fluff,
then you are 
golden!
