The company was named in honor of the late Secretary of the Navy, George Bancroft, who established the United States Naval Academy in 1845. Bancroft Engineering had earned its CVE certification as a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) and had grown to 11 full-time engineers, each with sterling academic credentials that include multiple and advanced degrees from the world’s top schools.  With mechanical, electrical, civil, and aerospace engineers, Geo. Bancroft Engineering offered clients a range of engineering services, backed by a portfolio of project experience unlike any other set-aside firm in America.

Recognizing the need to broaden its scope of design expertise, Jenkins purchased one of the region’s most respected small architectural firms, Facilities Solutions Group, in 2011.  Known for their precision in designing intensely complex facilities for scientific, military, and life sciences clients around the world, Facilities Solutions Group had the added advantage of an impeccable project history that extends back into the late 1990s.  The name of the merged firm, Bancroft Architects + Engineers, reflects both the legacy of the original company with the historical connection to the Navy and Naval Academy as well as the full range of services on offer.

Now with 59 full-time architects and engineers working from regional offices around the United States, in addition to the Illinois headquarters, Bancroft continues to grow.

What an impressive vision of the D’Aniello Institute for Veterans and Military Families - IVMF!

This past week, I enjoyed the honor of attending IVMF BunkerLabs' Ambassador Fly-In at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Washington, D.C.


IVMF’s mission is, “To empower service members, veterans, and their families through actionable research, innovative programs, and insightful analytics.”


IVMF’s values are:

Here are the outcomes of the IVMF Bunker Labs Ambassador Program:

Empowered Leaders: The program is designed to cultivate a network of skilled, confident, and connected leaders who are not only equipped to succeed in their entrepreneurial endeavors but are prepared to support and guide others on their journeys.

Enhanced Ecosystem Building: The development and nurturing of a robust, interconnected entrepreneurial ecosystem, specifically geared toward supporting the success of veterans and military spouse entrepreneurs.

Sustainable Impact: Through entrepreneurial success, creating a long-lasting framework that continues to contribute to economic boost, job creation, and community development.


As Ambassadors, we are volunteers who support military-connected entrepreneurs in communities across the country. Even though each of us has a primary role, all of us receive the same training and opportunities as part of the Ambassador Program.


Also, as Ambassadors, we collaborate with entrepreneur support organizations and veteran service organizations in the community to find ways to support military-connected entrepreneurs in cohort programs.

In addition, we work with networks in other cities to foster a locally thriving and nationally connected network for all members of the IVMF Bunker Labs community.


One of the many highlights from this fly-in was the view from roof of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
