A mix of engineering and project management: I was responsible for executing high voltage multi-million dollar substation projects that provide power for northern LA, eastern LA, and southern Orange counties. Worked with teams of 15-50 stakeholders regularly to complete engineering on 90+ substation projects to date. Work impacted millions of customers within the region. Fun fact: I had a big part in the effort to restore nationwide grid stability after San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station was shut down.

I lead organizational process creation, strategic programs, and implementation of right-sized agile frameworks appropriate for the organization's use case (agile as a tool, not a dogma).

My personal formula for impact at work
(finding your edge)

Know where you work
- some places want speed over quality (example: Meta-- "Move fast and break things")
- other places want quality over speed (example: Apple-- "Do it right the first time")

Know what to bring
- some places need you to lead on the technical expertise front (design and code)
- other places need you to lead on the general expertise front (people and structure)

Know your level
- new to the company or the role; get the details right to make a big impact
- experienced program manager; build the right systems to scale for bigger impact

Find your edge
(Where you work) + (what to bring) + (your level)

It can take some time to answer these questions, but through continuous observation the answer should become clearer to you every day.

Myself as an example in my situation
(speed) + (general expertise) + (scale) = my edge

In my case, I help many teams and people move quickly to high impact outcomes through scaling my efforts. Part of this is also due to my role and level. It means I have to trade-off getting in the weeds as much as I'd like.

If I were to change my org or company, my edge would change and I'd adapt my style accordingly.
