𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗺 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝗿𝘁!

Had a strange experience right now. Received an SMS from Bluedart with an OTP, immediately followed by a call from the delivery partner. He informed me that he had handed over the parcel to the security and asked me to share the OTP. I refused because of all those OTP scams and asked him to deliver to my door. He went on and told me that he was the same guy who delivered a parcel of mine earlier in the day. He even knew the details of that order 😮 When I still refused, he cut the call. I tried calling him back repeatedly, but he kept cutting the call. And eventually, blocked me. 

It worries me that he was privy to the delivery information from earlier. How would he have procured that data? Has Bluedart started selling delivery data or are they compromised?

Have been seeing so many ads that feature the brand's founders in them. Maybe it's a ploy used by creative teams to get their scripts approved quickly, without rounds and rounds of feedback. Or perhaps these scripts were written by the founders, slyly weaving themselves into the script.

In football, the referees make high-profile errors all the time. The sort of errors they make can affect outcomes of matches, careers, and sometimes destroy clubs. But these mistakes cost the players and people involved with the team more than anybody else. Referees on the other hand, end up with very little accountability. A suspension that lasts a few matches - the equivalent of a slap on the wrist. They are "playing by the book" after all - without ever understanding the human element of the game. And yet, they remain highly influential in the larger scheme of things.

The 'suits' in the corporate world are pretty much like these referees. Like a legendary footballer once said, "They know all the rules, but they have never played the game.

This wordplay makes my head ache a little. And it reminded me of a once-notorious billboard that the Bangalore Traffic Police department had put up all across the city. It read - "Wear helmet. Care family."

𝗪𝗮𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗹𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀

Back in the day, a colleague of mine and I used to find creative ways to show each other the middle finger. Very mature, I know. But lots of fun nonetheless. Some of the others used to say, "If only you guys put so much effort into cracking ideas for our clients." Meh. Too many restrictions. The middle finger marathon was our limitless canvas. 

Every day, we would devise a new way to flip the bird - as the more refined would call it. From the traditional crank to the more innovative "shoot down the other fingers with the middle one standing until the end" - a la Jack Black. 

And then one day, I received a call from the reception. There was a parcel for me. Do keep in mind that this was before the days of Amazon. Parcels were a rarity. 

I walked up unsuspectingly to Zaheeda, our receptionist, and collected the box. It barely weighed anything. No sender's address either. I borrowed a pen and butchered the box open. Inside it, was a neatly folded A4 sheet. And upon unfolding it, I found a crude drawing of a clenched fist, and you guessed it right, with a protruding middle finger. Game over.
