If your company is toxic, your self-worth can take a hit. Go where you're celebrated, not tolerated.

Companies, stop asking candidates for free work during the interview process.
 
Want them to perform new work based on your company's needs? Pay them.

This is my “why.” No one can advocate for you better than you.

Stop underselling yourself.

Here’s some positivity to start the week!

I know it’s the summer, but I’m seeing more people announcing their new jobs lately, so keep at it!

This is a reminder that recruiters *actually recruit* and don't just wait for the ATS to pick who to interview (or whatever else wrong you've read about recruiters).

If you're neglecting your LinkedIn profile, you're missing out.

Here are some of my top resume tips!

Be sure to like and repost it for everyone in your network looking for a job :)

✅ If you want to change industries, make sure your resume isn’t industry-specific. Highlight your skills/experience regarding the role, not the industry.

✅ Don't just tell them what you did...tell them how well you did it by qualifying/quantifying how successful your experience is.

✅ If you aren’t getting interviews, it doesn’t mean you don’t have value...it just means the reader doesn’t see it on the resume. You don’t have to change; the presentation does.

✅ When you give context, it allows the reader to see your relevance to the job you're applying to. Companies want value, not keywords.

✅ It’s hard to write objectively about yourself/your value. Ignore the need to be humble. You’ll realize you have more to offer than you thought.

✅ Resumes aren't for you to say, "Here is my experience." Resumes are for you to say, "See, I have the experience you are looking for." Focus on the experience relevant to the role you want, not the role you have.

✅ If you're being rejected for jobs you know you're qualified for, remember: There's a huge difference between "being qualified" and "someone seeing that you're qualified."

✅ “Resumes should be one page” - Generalized advice without nuance. Focus on relevant content, not page length. If you’re capping it at 1 page, you’re probably leaving info off that the recruiter is looking for.

✅ When a company posts a job, think of it as a pain point…that’s a problem that the company needs solved. Your resume is a marketing document. Present yourself as the solution to that pain point.

✅ If you want a remote job and have remote experience, make sure you talk about it on the resume. Some companies don’t want to deal with the learning curve, so showing how you’ve successfully worked remotely is key.

✅ Most resumes I review fall short in 1 of 2 ways. They’re either *only* duty-based or accomplishment-based. Balance the 2 approaches so that the reader understands not just what you do (your relevance) but how successfully you’ve done it (your impact).

✅ What’s most “eye-catching” for recruiters on a resume is relevance, not design. You want your resume to be quickly and easily understood, and it’s easier to see your relevance when the resume isn’t cluttered with graphics, columns, or pictures.
