Back to it after a few days off to reset with the family. No big adventures this time—new puppy = new routines 🐶 (turns out, tiny paws have a way of reshuffling plans). Highlights: 🚵‍♀️ 🚵‍♀️ Mountain biking with my son (yes, we braved the cold ❄️)—and realised he’s about to be way better than me. 🌊⛰Soaking up the stunning Southwest coast and hills is simple but always a win. (We even saw the sunshine!) Now, diving into an exciting week of client projects, with a few networking events thrown in for good measure. Yesterday was one of those all about the food kind of days. 🍳🥗 Started the morning at the G12 networking breakfast. ☕🥐 Then, straight into the Exeter Business Club lunch. 🍽️💬 (10/10 would recommend a networking schedule that involves back-to-back meals.) And with the sun shining ☀️ and the weather playing nice, I even snuck in a cheeky 90-minute blast on the bike 🚴‍♂️ when I got home - to burn off the excess food.... Not bad after a hectic few weeks! Today? Off to Cornwall for a client workshop. 🚗💼 Less food. More thinking. Looking forward to it 𝗜'𝗺 𝗕𝗲𝗻, 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘁𝗼... I reckon this resonates with most of us, At home, at work and in our businesses. The plan says smooth and consistent progress, but experience says otherwise. But if we accept the snakes and ladders analogy, how can we adapt to thrive? Here's my take: We live in a complex world that we can influence but not control, with both unexpected opportunities and challenges. The reality is clarity is always emerging, and we often have to act on incomplete information. Fortunately, we all come equipped with the most sophisticated decision-making machine in the world, our mind, gut, and heart. And we're not alone; our best advisors and cheerleaders come in all shapes and sizes, friends, family and professionals. So the takeout - be consistent on the inputs, accept the ride, trust your gut and have your go-to crew to help you navigate the ups and downs. In the meantime, have a top week! Spring & My client list Is there a connection ❓❓❓ I reckon so... Ok, here's the story... Yesterday, I went for a walk and heard ✨ The first skylarks on the moor. 🪵 A woodpecker hammering away, carving out a nest. And it got me thinking. The clients I work with, the businesses they build—it’s not random. They reflect something of who I am. I did a quick tally, and over half of my long-term clients are in sustainable development—architecture, design, ecology, and planning. 🌱 They care deeply about nature. 🏕️ They love the outdoors. And if I’m honest, so do I. That’s why, when I take on a new client, Moor Trees plant a native tree on Dartmoor. 🌳 It’s a small act, but it matters. Because it reflects something of who I am. On Wednesday, I headed up the M5 to Worcester— Destination: a beautiful converted barn. The mission? Talking to over 60 environmental consultants about how AI and technology can transform their businesses. But this wasn’t just any group. 🌿 Every single business in the room is owned by a Wildlife Trust. Their profits go straight back into conservation—so the better they run their businesses, the bigger their impact. 🤝 They work across the country but rarely get face to face time. This was a rare chance to share ideas, spark new ways of thinking, and achieve more together. At times, I feel like a gym instructor.👟🤸‍♂️🏋️‍♂️ Okay, if you’ve ever seen me, you know I don’t look like a gym instructor. Not by a long shot... But hear me out. If your gym instructor calls you on a Friday night just as you’ve opened a nice bottle of wine and says, “Hey, let’s hit the gym,” It’s not going to go well. If your gym instructor never calls you? That won’t work either. What you need is someone who helps you find your best pace. ✅ The one that works for you ✅ The one that actually gets you to your goals ✅ The one that keeps you accountable but doesn’t expect you to be a robot And that’s what I do with my clients. 💡💡They’re growing businesses. 💡💡They’re spinning plates. 💡💡They’re busy as hell. But they also want to make real progress. So, my job? ✅ Keep them moving. ✅ Make sure they’re working on the right things. ✅ Hold them accountable. ✅ But also respect that life doesn’t happen in a straight line.
