Why are subscribers mostly a vanity metric?

The strategy that boosted our clients' CTR by over 30%..

We’re often asked, "is it worth updating Thumbnails for videos that aren't performing?"

The answer is.. a big YESSS! But by running experiments through Split tests.  

But, how do you decide which thumbnails should to be updated?
→ Prioritize videos that have high audience retention and high watchtime, but low CTR. 

If the original Thumbnail is really bad, then test two new and improved thumbnails. 

We have done 450+ Split tests with TubeBuddy and Test + Compare and saw an average increase of 30% in CTR from the lower-performing Thumbnails. 

These experiments help us collect more accurate data on each thumbnail's performance and provide us with insights into continuously improving our Thumbnails by testing and identifying winning themes.

How can I identify winning themes for video thumbnails?

I had to Roast Costco in this video. I like Costco but their YouTube channel suckssss... well for a $300B company. They mostly post Tasty-style cooking videos.. but they're BORING. Bland!

My personal YouTube channel (also cooking content), has 3x as many subscribers with just a fraction of their videos. 🤔

  🚀 Create something Novel. Add your unique spin or a twist to a relevant trend. 
 🚀 Infuse personality. People connect with relatable and engaging hosts. It can even make mundane or dry content interesting.  
  🚀 Tell Stories! But dont just tell, SHOW! Show your customers or actors using your products in unique and personal ways. 
  🚀 Understand your audience deeply. What do they binge watch? Who are their YouTube idols?
