Ever since I was a kid. Little did I know it wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. 
So that’s when it all changed and my journey really began.

Hi, my name is Ely, and it all started in 2017..

I decided to leave a career of almost 10 years working for corporate.

I travelled all across the globe working for big time worldwide companies.

Perhaps you might know Jonhson & Johnson or MARS? 

Well, if you don’t know them, I’m 100% sure you consumed at least one of their products in your lifetime.

Either way, I was there as an IT Project Manager because I always loved tech.

But the problem was: I also loved entrepreneurship. And I’ve always had a natural talent for sales too - I loved selling stuff to my friends when I was a kid.

But my career in IT didn’t enable me to develop these skills much.

So that’s when I met Marketing. And it just clicked. So then, I planned to leave my job in 2017.

And that’s what I did. 

When I embarked this journey, I decided I wanted to combine two of my passions: marketing and tech, and it just made total sense.

Considering my background of 10+ years working with IT, I think it made me a good fit for that!

And so, I've been impacting consumers and companies worldwide ever since.

🤯 It won't take long - Once VR gets to this level, I believe some people will spend more time here than IRL. Is this ultimately good or bad?

This is another video that's been going around of a game under development.

Every time I come across this one, I have a hard time finding the source.

Some people say it's modded Cyberpunk 2077, some people say it's a UE5 test game.

Either way, you can see we're not far off from this.

Once we are able to make such a realistic game running on a computer ..

Then it becomes a matter of time until it runs on VR devices.

And this could become a reality where some people will choose to live in.

Don't get me wrong - I absolutely love this.

But not sure if we are ready to have access to it.

It's impressive though to realize how realistic a game can become.

👻 National Hockey League (NHL) and Sony used Augmented Reality to promote the new Ghostbusters movie during an NHL game: 

Super cool activation! 

You know I'm a fan of immersive used for marketing purposes.

Although it begs the question (which I wasn't able to find out):

Is this actual Augmented Reality or is it more of a CGI/VFX on a live broadcasting?

Articles are saying it's AR, and it would be awesome if one could use their phones to watch this IRL during the game.

Just imagine seeing a giant QR-Code in the screens during half-time, to end up spooked by a ghost!

Using immersive for promotional purposes is about to become a must.

And if you're not doing it, odds are you'll be easily forgotten.

Just take a look at Barbie ®'s Roblox game, or Kung-Fu Panda's Roblox game as well.

Consumers are demanding new ways to engage already.

🙋‍♂️  Is this what's missing to make Work From Home actually immersive? Apple's new "Spatial Personas" seems to beat Meta's Codec Avatars:

As much as some people won't find this super exciting..

Worth noting that right now, there are a lot of executives looking at immersive tech.

Trying to understand the ROI behind the technology, and the actual use cases.

The #metaverse original concept, unfortunately, never seemed to stick for corporations.

Microsoft has been on a push to make meetings more immersive.

Meta came up with Horizon Workrooms, via their cartoonish avatars in VR.

They have teased their Codec Avatars many times now, but no feasible product yet.

Now Apple, shortly after releasing the Vision Pro with their somewhat realistic avatars, is already pushing "Spatial Personas".

It seems to be much better, plus it's a product people can use right now, instead of Meta's Codec Avatars.

Features include being able to interact with spatial objects, windows & apps, using your hands and joint meetings.

Is this the telepresence we have always wanted for meetings?

And obviously, this opens up the possibilities for many other applications in the near future.

Not just for business meetings - but watching movies together.

Meeting a friend you haven't seen for a long time.

Shopping together in immersive.

So many cool things we could do!

🥽 This was certainly one of the biggest news we've had in the #metaverse for quite a while now. It's extremely impactful in so many ways:

Meta is releasing their operating system, Horizon as an OS for anyone to use.

Zuck doesn't say if that'll be through partnerships or if anyone can use.

But still, the fact that Lenovo, ASUS ROG and Microsoft's XBOX will be joining, means a lot.

As he says, the computer era was marked by an open ecosystem.

Anyone can build PC components, and use Windows on them.

Different from Apple for instance, where only Apple gets to design products for their own hardwares.

This is going to open up so many possibilities because as it turns out, Meta has actually done well with their OS.

Let's not forget that Quest devices are the most sold VR headsets worldwide.

So yes, this means A LOT for our ecosystem.

Looking forward to seeing what this will mean in the long run.

Like it or not - Meta is still leading the way.

📱 A Faux OOH that is also a product demo? Found this idea by Samsung Electronics interesting to showcase the Galaxy S24 Ultra:

If you're following me for a while, you know I'm a fan of FOOH.

Not because I personally find it amazing - it was innovative a couple years ago.

But because it works. It still gets shared on social like crazy.

In fact, we did a FOOH for the Aquarium de Paris combined with AR.

And I'm still going to share some of the backend data.

But one thing most brands are not doing, is using the FOOH not just to amaze, but to share something as well.

Earlier this month, I shared a FOOH by Coach, where they shared data about a popup store in South Korea at the end.

Something similar is being done by Samsung here.

Showcasing their AI features for picture taking.

Which for most people nowadays, is still something impressive - specially if it happens easily and directly on your phone.

That was a clever move, and I'd be curious to hear the backend data on this.

Hopefully it gets shared like crazy as well.

🤖 Now all advertisers can do Video Ads on Roblox, as they aim to build a $1B advertising business within the company. Important data for you to consider:

If you've been following me for a while, you know I love Roblox.

They've been consistently growing and onboarding brands year after year.

Back in 2022, they were already teasing the idea of launching more immersive ads.

Portal Ads within games, Video Ads, which were all tested in 2023 by innovative brands like E.L.F. BEAUTY, HUGO BOSS, Walmart and others.

Plus, recently they've started testing IRL e-comm with Walmart. 🛒 

Which I'm sure you've already heard about here on LinkedIn.

🏊‍♂️ Let's dive deep into the data:

👉 Ads will be displayed to 13+ users only, which are estimated to be half of the platform's 71.5M daily active users
👉 Highly scalable, as advertisers build videos once and run it thousands of times
👉 Comes with Genre Targeting, Brand Suitability and an Audience Estimator
👉 Later this year, advertisers will be able to buy Completed Views (this is massive)
👉 According to Latitude, 75% of users said they're more likely to notice brands that advertise on Roblox (vs. other channels)
👉 And 73% see brands that advertise on Roblox as category leaders (!!)
👉 After viewing Video Ads, users are more likely to visit the advertiser's experiences, post about these brands on social, follow them on social, check out their websites and look for more info about them
👉 A more programmatic way to run ads will be available later on

On top of that, Roblox is partnering with Integral Ad Science and Kantar to provide 3D in-experience viewability, Invalid Traffic (IVT) measurement, and brand lift studies.

Worth noting that some experiences already using Video Ads have over 1B visits! And right now there are more than 1000 experiences already using it. 🤯 

Not to mention this is an alternative for game publishers to generate additional revenue.

This is all part of a larger push, where Roblox is aiming to become an ENTERTAINMENT HUB as I said on a previous post. 👈 

Providing users with experiences, combined with social, shopping and more.

What if we had a super realistic VR version of GTA V? 🤔 I guess it would be the closest thing we would have to the actual #metaverse:

I shared earlier this week a video displaying an extremely realistic mod of Cyberpunk 2077 in VR.

Some people argued that although CP2077 is super realistic and a great game to play in VR..

It's not online, at least not the way a game like GTA V is.

GTA, with the amount of servers they have today, is potentially the closest thing to the metaverse.

Because think about it - Our ideal scenario of the metaverse has a ton of people in it.

Essentially role-playing, or just playing games, where they could or not earn something in return.

When we look at Roblox and Fortnite, it's a whole different interaction happening.

GTA on the other hand, is based on role-playing, and essentially living in a different reality.

Well, so if we put that in VR and make it realistic enough.. 

Given their amount of players, that's as close as you get to an alternate reality, or an extended universe.

I know this example is not EXTREMELY realistic, but you get the gist.

🐠 We jumped into the Faux OOH bandwagon with the Aquarium de Paris, to promote their new exhibition! We're being very strategic about it:

Glad to announce that we recently released an FOOH for the Aquarium of Paris.

As many of you know, I'm a fan of FOOH due to the way it gets shared like crazy organically on social.

However, as I often say, the format and channel are merely tools to reach your goal.

The FOOH is a format that is working right now to get attention.

What is the point though if you don't properly channel that attention?

If it's branding (like how 95% of the FOOH's have done so far), it's fine.

But I like to approach things from a much more strategic perspective.

We've built the FOOH, combined with a Snap Inc. filter that can be used on the Eiffel Tower to see this effect live.

Additionally, we're advertising this video and similar ones (about 10 different versions) across different channels.

Our ultimate goal is to convert this attention into purchased tickets.

I'll be sharing more about this journey within the upcoming months.

For me personally, a FOOH is pretty much useless without metrics, attribution and a positive outcome at the bottom of the funnel.

🎥 I've been playing a lot with Roblox's ClipIt lately, which is their TikTok. I've created some content there and will do more, so here are my insights so far:

For those of you who are unaware, there's a new game on Roblox called ClipIt.

It's the exact same thing as TikTok, but made entirely inside of Roblox.

You record it within the existing maps on ClipIt, then edit it - all within the game.

The way it works is very similar to TikTok.

However, with a catch:

- If you want to have "pro" editing features, you gotta pay with Robux.
- You can feature items on your videos, and get paid a referral for sales.

I tried posting, but none of my posts went viral lol.

Some of my top insights so far are:

- Similar to TikTok, ClipIt already has its trends ("let me take a selfie" being the most popular one)
- Just like on TikTok, looking good matters and impacts results. People with bland avatars don't fly
- Understanding the culture is KEY. It's hard to explain, but there's a clear difference from content done by someone that actually plays Roblox

Also, worth noting that most of the content that goes viral doesn't actually make sense.

Some of the viral videos don't have any logic whatsoever, but they always have avatars with great style.

Plus, most of them are well edited.

I'll continue to explore ClipIt and share my insights here - specially once I go viral!

🥽 Meta's celebrating 10 yrs of immersive. At the end of their post, they talk about their highly anticipated AR glasses (a.k.a. "Project Orion") 👇 🤯 

Love it or hate it - Meta has been doing more for immersive than anyone else.

We know that Apple will probably come up with some type of AR glasses.

Although analysts are showing signs that they might release one..

Officially, there's nothing that says they actually will.

Meta, on the other hand, has teased Project Orion many times, their AR glasses.

They have spoken publicly about it, leaked some pictures, etc.

And now - another sign that we have AR glasses from Meta coming around the corner.

Officially, it seems the glasses won't be released until 2027.

But we might see a version of the glasses (potentially available for tests by selected people) next year.

I think the last few years have showed us the potential behind XR.

However, believe me when I tell you this - AR glasses, when done by a giant like Meta or Apple..

Will change EVERYTHING.
