He was nervously glancing left and right, and the way he was standing said one thing to me—lookout. I rolled by in my patrol car, and the way his body was positioned said a second thing—I'm armed. I rounded the block to investigate further, and as I pulled up next to him, he tensed up, saying a third thing—fight or flight. All of these clues—this information—should have raised my defenses, but I ignored them. And when I patted him down, I found not one, not two, but three guns. He could've killed me, but he didn't. I ignored what the evidence was pointing to and lost one of my nine lives that night. Ignoring intelligence puts businesses at this type of risk daily.
