One team I was on, the best developers were the juniors!  

They were fresh out of school, but 
They knew the latest frameworks, and 
They knew the language we were using  

The rest of us were trying to play catch up!  

The seniors had spent years using x tech stack, but the project required us to modernize and rewrite an application to a more modern tech stack.  

Those who were once "juniors" immediately became the "subject matter experts" on the new system 😅

This was a response I got from a recruiter, when he approached me about an opportunity he was hiring for...

And all I'm saying is... he's not wrong!

Some of you guys get no matches on Tinder and it shows 😅 


While LinkedIn is NOT a dating site (I can't emphasize this enough!), there IS a similar power dynamic you have to take into account.

For example, on Tinder women gets TONS of matches
(or so I hear!)

While on LinkedIn, junior opening gets TONS of applicants
(I know this one from experience!)

So just like how BEING a good boyfriend is a different skill than PERSUADING a stranger to go on a first date with you

BEING a good developer is a different skill that PERSUADING a stranger to select you for an interview

And if your LinkedIn profile is any indication of your ability to make that sale... I'm not surprised that you get no matches on Tinder 😂

Recruiters - If a candidate is interested in multiple roles at your company, should they...

1. Apply to ALL the openings
(and let your internal team fight over them 😂 )

2. Or apply to ONE of the openings
(and apply to the NEXT one only if they are rejected)

Because as it stands, it seems like either way candidates are screwed 😅 

For example, if they apply to ALL openings, that creates confusion (which team interviews the candidate NEXT? Can ONE screening call work for ALL the openings? If ONE team rejects them, does that count for ALL teams?)

Or if they apply to ONE opening and get rejected, then the other openings may be closed by that time! So even if they may have been a better fit for them, they miss out on THESE too 😥
