This video got me 150+ followers. Let me show you exactly why: It got over a 12k views across platforms. The first job of your video? Interrupt the scroll. People decide in 3 seconds if they stay. That's why you need to "hook" them. So why it started of with "There's a lot going on lately" Combined edit tricks to visually hook them. After the first part there's a small breather. And it speeds up again. After that it's just a simple story delivering on the hook. Take-away: Invest in the first part of a video. That's where you win the audience. Curious: Do you watch videos past 3 seconds if they don’t grab you? More video-related content? Follow me Fred Vermeij
This is the true power of posting video content. Here's why impressions aren’t a vanity metric: Whenever I am on social events. People start talking about my content. Sometimes, it’s work-related. It’s more often about my personal life. Most of them never liked or commented, and I love that. Two takeaways: 1. People relate to personal stuff. 2. People are way more involved than the stats show. Impressions are not a vanity metric. They are real people seeing your content. What's your experience with this? More video-related content? Follow me Fred Vermeij
Your business has a story. But does it feel like one? ELEVEN had just rebranded. A fresh look, identity, and brand book. It looked amazing. We translated that vibe → and told it through movement → music → color → sound design → storytelling Not just a message. A feeling. Your brand isn’t just what you say. It’s how you make people feel when they see it. Have you seen a brand video lately that stuck? Let me know in the comments! More video-related content? Follow me Fred Vermeij
You know what makes a video good? The stuff nobody sees on screen: A lot of businesses start with the video idea. From a marketing perspective, it should always start with the goal in mind. Why are we making this video? Who is the target audience Where will the video be used? Then, we can discuss the video ideas and the message we want to deliver. Coming up with creative ways to do so. From the concept, we create a script and storyboard aligned with the company goals. Great videos are not created on the spot. They happen through months of preparation and creativity. Have you ever made a video for your business? How did it go? More video-related content? Follow me Fred Vermeij
This was me in January 😅 Taking time off? Always been tough. This changed everything: I push hard. Get a ton done. Then, at some point… I slow down. Before? I’d keep grinding until I had nothing left. But grinding isn’t the move. This quote from Abraham Lincoln changed my perspective: "If I had six hours to chop down a tree, I would spend the first four sharpening my axe." A blunt axe doesn’t chop the tree. Rest = sharpening the axe. After this vacation? My axe is sharp. Time to produce some new videos. Grinding or resting? What’s your approach? - Follow me Fred Vermeij for video-related content. Most people think video is about visuals. It’s actually about emotions: Words + visuals don’t just add up—they compound. They make the viewer feel. And guess what? Emotions and memory are linked. Using lighting, adding sound and color will even enhance it. Next time you're creating video: Think of the feeling you want the viewer to have. What emotion did you get from this post? Hong Kong felt like a fever dream: You know that feeling after a long flight with little sleep? It feels dreamy. Stepping into an unknown and different world. Hong Kong is so different from what I've seen. The city is hypermodern, but the roots are still very visible. Skyscrapers overshade ancient temples. It’s chaos and precision at the same time. For three days, I wandered around with my camera. Capturing the city's vibe. What's your favorite city? Hong Kong is close to my favorite: Tokyo.
Dream away with some photos from the Philippines 🇵🇭 What a trip: I slept on deserted islands, visited beautiful beaches, stargazed with zero light pollution, played basketball with the locals, and met many amazing people. Now, back to work creating video content for businesses. And fresh content for LinkedIn. What’s the most unreal place you’ve ever been?
We started shooting this commercial for Free. Here's why: After months of preparation, we started shooting. Making a free commercial. Why would you do that? In the creative sector, this is often done to develop skills, learn, and build a portfolio. And also, you can create something how you envisioned it without any restrictions from a client. For this project we worked together with 14 talented people. My role? The Director of photography. Making me responsible for the final image. And I also did the lighting work on this job. It was a lot of fun, and I learned much from working with this group. Doing this for free is an investment in a skillset, experience, and network. What do you think of free work?
