These might be corny but I always enjoy reading them so here I go.

32 is too many things so I’m going to share 10.

10 things I’ve learned about business (and life) on my 32nd birthday:

1. Nothing matters more than your relationship with your spouse. I'm lucky every day that I get to hang out and do life with my best friend.

2. Being a parent is really hard. And it's also the most amazing thing in the world. Every cliche about being a parent is wildly accurate.

3. The most successful business people I know are INCREDIBLE relationship builders/networkers. This is the one constant of all my clients.

4. You won't have success as an entrepreneur until you've failed a couple of items. I had 4 "failures" before this successful business.

5. Everybody is going through something. Even in situations where something might seem perfect on the outside, there's something going on below the surface.

6. Proximity plays a huge role in who you interact with on a consistent basis. It sucks but it's hard to keep in touch with good friends that you don't live close to.

7. Having grandparents that want to hang out with your kids makes things so much easier. We are so incredibly lucky to have 2 sets of grandparents where this is the case

8. Doing things that others won't is a competitive advantage in business and in life. Things like providing value to them before you ever pitch your services, constantly sharing thought leadership, and being a connector will always separate you.

9. Sales is so much easier when you meet someone in person and get into a texting relationship. It also rarely (if ever) happens the first time you meet them. You have to be willing to play the long game

10. We often (myself included) don't do enough really nice things at random times for the people we care about. Whenever I get my wife a random gift, or send a client/prospect something I know they would love, it makes me happy. I let life get in the way and don't do enough of these.

I have a lot to be grateful for as I enter my 33rd year of life.

Grateful for my health, my wife, my son, our pup, my family, my friends and to LinkedIn for creating a platform that has helped me achieve my goal of becoming an Entrepreneur. 

My little guy turns 1 today.

He's taught me more about myself in the last year and pushed me in ways that I needed to be pushed.

Here are a few things I've learned over the past year:

1. My wife is a superhero and being a Mom is really, really, really hard. I didn't understand all the things a mother did until I watched my wife do it. Shoutout to my wife for being amazing and to my mom for everything she has done and continues to do for me.

2. I used to think I was a patient person. And then I realized how quickly my fuse can go when the crying won't stop for hours. This is a HUGE area of development for me.

3. I struggled A LOT in the first few months and it was hard for me to bond with him right away. The more I talked with new parents, the more I found how common this was and it's rarely talked about publicly. 

4. My son doesn't care what happened at work that day and I can't bring that into our relationship. I started a business in the same year as becoming a first-time Dad. Being a Dad is always more important than anything business-related.

5. The voice of my baby crying is the worst sound on earth. At least it is for me. I wish it didn't bother me so much but it absolutely kills me to listen to the screaming.

6. There's nothing better in this world than your child's first smile and first belly laugh, and they come at just the perfect time. 

7. In fact, everything with a baby seems to come at just the perfect time. That week of no sleep, that time they are refusing to eat X thing, they always seem to adjust right when you're at your breaking point.

8. Taking time for me and my wife is the most important thing we can do for the baby. It's really hard and easy to focus on just him, but those moments together just the two of us have been some of my favorites this past year. We seem to appreciate the small moments even more.

9. Grandparent support is a God-send. Our little guy had reflux and colic for the first ~4 months and wasn't the easiest newborn. Having grandparents we could trust saved us so many times.

10. It's the hardest and best thing I've ever done. Every cliche about being a parent is wildly accurate. You experience a new level of joy when you see things through their eyes but some days can also be really, really hard.

I feel incredibly grateful and lucky to have a healthy baby in a world where I know that isn't always the case. 

I am looking forward to this next chapter and everything that comes with going from 1 to 2! 

If your headline on LinkedIn says “We help you attract 20+ new leads per day.”

And you immediately message me after the connection to try to sell me your services...

There’s a 0% chance I’m responding and taking the call.

Please be a human on LinkedIn.

My LinkedIn outreach strategy:

1. Connect with them but don't send a message unless you have a specific connection

2. A few days later send a message to build rapport, not sales-related at all, related to their alma mater or some connection point you can find

3. Comment thoughtfully on their content if they create content

4. Send a request for ~15-30 minutes to provide them value, make it all about them, and ensure it's a free offer.

5. Follow up and make it specific about them so they know it's not an AI-generated message

You do this and you'll separate yourself from 99% of people trying to sell on LinkedIn.

1% of LinkedIn users post at least once a month.

It is a huge competitive advantage for B2B sales.

You just have to be willing to:

1. Put yourself out there
2. Do it for 6+ months
3. Not worry about being an amateur in the beginning

I haven’t met a person who has committed to generating content for over a year that hasn’t gotten multiple leads from it.

The hardest part is staying committed for a year+ and most people stop after a few weeks.

If you are consistently creating content that is valuable for your ideal customer profile and stick through when it might feel pointless, you will have success. 

Your first direct message to a B2B prospect should be:  

1. About the other person 
2. Two to Three Sentences max 
3. Not trying to sell them anything  

You HAVE to build the relationship before you have any chance to actually sell them.

I would say 1% of the direct messages I receive are like this.

There is a huge opportunity to stick out if you do LinkedIn selling thoughtfully and are committed to the long game.  

The majority of LinkedIn messages are terrible and sent to thousands of people at once.

If you are in sales, you have a unique opportunity to stand out just by:

1. Focusing on them
2. Not selling in the first message
3. Being a human and just trying to get a conversation

Most successful business people I know are obsessive “networkers.”

They are constantly finding ways to meet new people and provide them value.

They are always looking for the next person to help and build a genuine relationship with.

It’s why I often see Founders struggle to hire sellers because they aren’t often “built” with that same interest.

Doing things that others won’t is a competitive advantage in B2B sales:

1. Researching a prospect before reaching out

2. Focusing on them and value rather than what you offer

3. Being manual with outreach and not mass blasting 

4. Committing to the long game

5. Sharing valuable content consistently for your ideal customer profile

Why you should be posting on LinkedIn for B2B sales:

1. 80.33% of social media-related quality leads come from LinkedIn for B2B sales

2. 16.2% of LinkedIn users login every day which means 141 million people

3. Only about 1% of LinkedIn’s users post at least once per month


That last stat is my favorite.

All other sellers are sending cold emails and making cold calls, but very few are creating valuable content here. 

If you provide valuable content for an extended period of time, you can become known as an expert in a specific space which will equate to leads.

This will be people directly reaching out, mutual connections recommending you to their friends, and partners reaching out that haven't even met you yet.

The possibilities are amazing if you can provide valuable content on a consistent basis for 6+ months. 

Most sales enablement platforms are terrible. The exception is Conquer.

I’ve spent the last few months speaking with many Chief Revenue Officers and Head of Sales and it’s the only one that routinely gets positive reviews.

I have a lot of sales leaders I’m connected to so I figured I'd share my thoughts.

I constantly hear about:
1. How easy it is to implement
2. How helpful it is to be a native Salesforce platform
3. The ability to help sellers prioritize what they should be working on

4 sales channels, my thoughts on each, and a preview of something new I'm launching (scroll to the bottom to learn more):

1. Cold Calling - really hard, and most people hate it but it has opportunity 

2. Email - almost impossible to get interest at this point

3. In Person Events - the best if possible

4. LinkedIn - the MOST underutilized tactic that people aren’t doing well


As far as LinkedIn, I always recommend starting with 3 things:

1. Set your profile up for success
2. Post content 1x per week if you're just getting started
3. Comment thoughtfully on your prospect's posts
