I’m Jim. I write on personal growth from a unique perspective... The intersection of lawyering and entrepreneurship. I started offering personal growth courses and coaching in 2016, when I started my first non-lawyer business. Inspired by the startup ecosystem in Silicon Beach (Santa Monica, Venice Los Angeles), I co-founded a telehealth site with a psychologist and worked directly with our doctors' clients as a coach, helping them transform into healthier, happier people. It was natural for me to learn about and then advise others on mindset and strategies for personal growth. Why? In my law practice I’d become an expert in clinical medicine and psychology, able to turn around and explain these subjects to clients and juries. On the business side, we started making $15,000 in MRR within our first year, and we expanded into 27 states by our third year. And it stayed a side hustle the entire time. I also mentor younger lawyers on advanced litigation skills and developing a personal brand, having worked in both large firm environments and as a solopreneur leveraging technology and efficiency systems to scale income. Other stuff that's happened on my journey so far: • Peer-nominated Thomson Reuters Super Lawyer (2012-2024), placing me in the top 5% of lawyers in Southern California. • Invited speaker at major insurance events, bar groups and law firms on advanced litigation strategy, law practice management, monetization, and maintaining an ethical law practice. • Grew a solo, high-output law practice starting with zero clients to handling multi-million-dollar cases for national insurance companies and large corporate clients within 3 years.
