Someone gave me a microphone, and I guess I had a few things to sayā¦ Firstly, I was asked about the moment that started it all; But truthfully ā there wasnāt one ā Everyone is expecting this perfect momentā¦ Well ā it isnāt coming. The best entrepreneurs I know have simply āØstartedāØ Something. Anything. They start, and eventually along the way they find THE idea. And by then, theyāve gathered all the skills to execute it. But you need to *start* to get to āthe oneā; And you need to keep going to be able to get there too. Thanks Hamza, Sarina & Nikolay š¤
Oh how time fliesā¦ 3 years ago today I won my first award. 7 years ago I got my first corporate job. 6 years ago I got my first promotion. 5 years ago I was made redundant. 4 years ago I started my first business. This year, Iāll celebrate how far weāve come; With great tech. Global partners. Major investors. Hindsight gives perspective: Life may not seem āsuccessfulā all the time, but when you zoom out itās pretty great š
I celebrated International Womenās Day at 10 Downing Street A day dedicated to championing women, yetā¦ Itās 2025 and women still: š Receive just 2% of venture capital funding; š Spend circa 9+ hrs/week on unpaid labor vs men; š Hold only 27% of executive leadership roles globally. ā Yet female-led businesses see up to 35% more profit! So itās not just āgoodā to invest into women; itās good business. And with this yearās theme is āaccelerate action.ā So, letās close the gap, and invest into more women!
Hard work ā building something that works. And if thereās anything Iāve learnt this year itās: Growth takes time ā not just talent Building takes grit ā not just a good idea Success requires resilience ā not just ambition Entrepreneurship is about sacrifice ā not just hard work A strong business model will trump all ā not just the product But also: you learn fast when everything depends on you!! š Itās not about doing more. Itās about doing what actually moves the needle.
