The SEO world is panicking about AI search. Everyone's writing articles about "the death of Google" and "how to optimize for GEEPTEE." Meanwhile, I'm sitting here smiling. Because while everyone's scrambling to figure out the new rules, I've been quietly focused on what actually makes money: bottom-funnel content that converts. Here's what I've learned after 16 years in SEO and helping a B2B tech brand go from $7M to $9.2M in 12 months: SEO isn't dead. But traffic-obsessed SEO? That's on life support. Think about it: We've always been too fixated on vanity metrics. Search volume. Traffic. Rankings. Backlinks. All while ignoring the only metric that matters: revenue. AI search isn't killing SEO. It's killing the old, bloated approach where we: • Churn out 500 blog posts nobody reads • Target high-volume, low-intent keywords • Compete for traffic instead of customers • Ignore sales conversion in favor of traffic Good riddance. General Engine Optimization (GEO) isn't new. Smart marketers have been doing it for years. We've always known: • People search everywhere (not just Google) • Intent matters more than volume • Quality crushes quantity • Conversion beats traffic The difference now is that AI search is finally forcing everyone to admit what was always true: appearing in search results is worthless if you're not converting. I used to constrain myself with keyword volume because a niche might only show "30 monthly searches." Seemed hard to justify spending $900 on a guide with such "low potential." Then I watched one of those "low volume" guides bring in $270,000 in revenue. This is where the future of SEO exists: creating better assets that actually convert. Bottom-funnel content like: • Comparison guides • ROI calculators • Implementation roadmaps • Decision-stage resources You won't get fifty thousand monthly visitors. Probably won't even get five thousand. But if it gets you 3 sales at $90k each, who cares about traffic? This is why I developed the Content Cash Machine framework. Just three key principles: 1. Interview sales/support teams - They know exactly what content prospects need to make purchase decisions 2. Focus on BOFU assets - Target the exact moments buyers are making decisions 3. Convert visitors into paying customers - Build content that addresses dreams, objections, fears, and frustrations Will this content rank for high-volume keywords? Probably not. Will it convert at 5-10x the rate of your typical blog post? Absolutely. The future belongs to marketers who focus on: • Creating better content assets • Targeting purchase-intent keywords regardless of volume • Addresses real buyer concerns • Measuring success by revenue While everyone else panics about AI search "killing SEO," smart marketers are quietly building revenue engines with BOFU content.
