I was contracted to scale up the supplier program as Marketing Coordinator and successfully grew the £12k/year program to turn over £517k of revenue in 2018.

Working in the Supplier Marketing team, running targeted marketing campaigns through the Morrisons More card scheme via their channels - Catalina, Email and Direct Mail. I took the suppliers brand objective to decipher the correct targeting to achieve this, including supporting NPD launch, brand penetration, in category and out of category acquisition, frequency and loyalty building. Using customer selection algorithms and in-depth data analysis in the personalisation of offers ensured high redemption rates.

So, we went to the registry office. In Spalding. And stayed in a big house opposite a Maccies drive-thru.

No confetti. No speeches. No giant dress.
 But a big time saving so I’ve got more left to chill and tan when I bugger off for our big (actually, still fairly small, but more dramatic) Greek wedding next week.

I will ABSOLUTELY be milking it for content, don’t you worry.

But if you see my name change soon, no, you haven’t missed it…

I’m just now legally married for admin reasons.

(Also because I love him. Obviously.)

IDC if 'this isn't Facebook', I'm asking for your best wedding day advice as a guest/bride/groom/business owner as I make the final preparations to jet off for the big ceremony!

Working with (as their marketing agency) vendors, planners, and doing so many wedding-related shoots, here's what I've gathered so far:

1. Order your rings ahead:
Now, jewellery is actually our biggest sector.
I knew this.
I still left it late.
Aaaaand I won't have a ring ready for the day itself. BUT, the angels at Brown & Newirth Ltd have given me a sample of my ring, which is a blooming good dupe anyway.

2. Top Tables are dumb:
This was an opinion that went viral on our planning client's socials because everyone who's ever been abandoned on one like a 'duck in a shooting range' whilst bride/groom mingled, agreed.

3. Delegate:
My one weakness.
I hired a planner.
I've written a comprehensive team handover.
Yet, I still struggled to let go of a lot, aaaaand that's on me.

But I am leaving the care of FB Comms in the capable hands of my team Daisy Kallum Arpita Harry Eddy Meg & Georgia to keep the lot running whilst I'm running down the aisle.

You can book in when I'm back, but you can bet my laptop isn't coming with me, no matter what, the business isn't winning out over time with my family, friends, and partner next week 🤍

Halloween Email Subject Lines To Stop Overusing

I remember being asked why the hell I was going to a networking event full of my 'competitors'. 

That was about 20 agency owner events ago.

And, I'm going to keep on attending them and 'fraternising with the enemy'.
Because there ISN'T ONE.

I spoke to 200+ people in the same boat as me this week:
Running a marketing agency.
Growing businesses, essentially via the internet.

Yet, not a single one did it 
- in the exact same way
- for the exact same people
- with the exact same experience 
as us.

No agency is entirely unique, or there wouldn't be a line in budgets for it (as Steve told me over a pint).

YET, so much of our work and learning comes from other agencies - referrals, cross-collaborating, partnerships, and each doing our best to find the right fit for the clients and brands that come our way.

Also, helping each other shortcut to the best tech/system/insurance/kit to serve our clients even better.

Wouldn't you want your service provider to be constantly improving and seeking ways they can deliver the best result possible?

Or to hide away, guarding their new favourite tool or plan when there might be a better 12 out there instead?

Seems a no-brainer to me 🤷‍♀️

Stuff you should probably know that’s new in marketing (or will be real soon) ⬇️

🚫 Meta’s testing a paid ad-free experience in the UK.

📉 Facebook’s binning off some metrics so they’ll match what you see in Insta.

⏰ You’ll be able to schedule your Instagram stories in-app.

📰 LinkedIn’s news feature’s enhanced to promote posts talking about those topics.

🤖 All Facebook ads will be AI-enhanced by 2026 (yes, you still need to know which buttons to press, the current algo is technically all AI anyway).

🎥 YouTube launched more ‘made on YouTube 2025’ tools with AI short generation (time saver) and A/B thumbnail testing.

🛒 TikTok shop manual campaigns were replaced with GMV Max last month (similar premise to Google PMax).

💬 WhatsApp’s trialling ‘close friends’ for stories (if anyone ever used them but good for biz accounts)!


The platforms aren’t standing still, and neither should your marketing. We review all our contracts and deliverables AT LEAST every 3 months else they become obsolete.

What the heck is the ‘winter arc’ and why should you consider ‘locking in’? (on your content/biz/life, not just your health)

The Winter Arc is a curve.

Based on the law of exponential gains.

The idea is simple:
- Lock in now
- Get your freakin head down
- Build consistency whilst the pub gardens are shut
- Reap the rewards in January.

Over 1 year, that’s 37x better.

Not a lot?

I previously couldn’t do a single one of those ⬇️
But grinded through over 30 the day that was taken.

Yes, I may have looked like I’m about to have a hernia, but I still did it.

Locking in on your content now looks like:
- 2 hours a week
- 3-5 posts/week
- 15 mins of engagement each weekday
- 250 weekly LinkedIn connections
= at least 3-5k new followers by new year

And I bet you’ve spend longer than that scrolling in a single session 👀

7 lies you’ve been told about social media:

1. You need to post every day.
2. It’s impossible to grow accounts in 2025.
3. People aren’t on social to shop.
4. Going viral can be guaranteed.
5. Going viral is a bad thing to want.
6. Quality always trumps quantity.
7. Trends are a strategy.

What lies are you busting wide open 👀

I've said it before and I'll say it again and again: the BIGGEST mistake that's butchering your paid ad spend, bleeding out the ££ left right and centre? 🔪🩸

👉 Crappy tracking.

You need to make sure that you have every potential conversion point tracked, including:
📞 Contact
✍️ Form completion
🛒 Add to cart
👛 Initiate checkout
🛍️ Purchase

If there's a big drop-off from page view to purchase, you have a problem.

You could put all the money in the world on an ad, but if your web speed is too slow, the checkout doesn't take PayPal or Klarna and every man and his dog is abandoning their carts, you'll waste the lot.

Tracking at each stage is essential when running ads. 

Anyone can run a traffic campaign and get you a few pence a click, but how many of them actually buy?

👉 That's the stat that matters.

Social for small business owners: WHY is it so important?

I spoke to Louise Mortimer, founder of @thespxce.uk (check her IG out).

Social is basically another way to create additional touchpoints with potential clients, employees, and to show people who you actually are so they can see if you align with their goals and values.

Plus, anyone can press ‘post’, right? 😘

Running a business is hella work.
Yet, I think most people on here forget to actually highlight how FUN it can be! I see it as 90% fun and 10% work because...

✅ I only provide services that I enjoy delivering
✅ I only work with clients who I like/support and can see my value
✅ I only take on projects I'm passionate about
✅ I get additional wonderful opportunities to meet and network with other inspiring people (like Redacted run club founder Alex Steedman)

It's all about setting boundaries!

Doing that and the fact that I'm working for myself and so seeing the results directly keeps me motivated! 💪🏼

Business is a coping mechanism for me.

Having things to do, helping people and that feeling of being productive is all stuff that gets me up in the morning.
