I got into sales 10 years ago because I enjoyed talking to people…so how is it that sales put me in the hospital? Here’s the short version of the story… As a fresh college grad, all I cared about was playing music, doing jiu jitsu, and spending time with friends. Sales was just a means to an end to pay for the things I loved to do. But over the years life started to catch up. I went from using sales to fund my real passions, to suddenly realizing I was working 12 hours a day in a job I wasn't truly aligned with. Worse than that, I started to see my self-worth in terms of how much money I made, and developed a range of unhealthy mindsets and habits around that negative self-image. Then the health scares started. I was living such an unbalanced lifestyle that I developed a serious stress induced condition that landed me in the hospital several times, and stopped me from being able to perform well at work. Something had to change. I knew it was time to invest in a project that would mean more to me, and hopefully mean more to other people too. That's how Storytelling at Scale was born. Storytelling at Scale is a podcast that highlights the human element of entrepreneurship and business. My thesis is this: business is an inherently personal endeavor. What we do in business reflects our values, our dreams, our struggles, and our gifts. Like people, business is imperfect. My mission is to highlight people and stories that we can all learn from. Not perfect stories about perfect people with perfect businesses. But stories about real people who are trying their best to build something that means something to them. We all have something to learn from that process of self discovery, regardless of where we are in that journey.
