Drawing from the success and lessons from our corporate sales and marketing roles, we're poised to propel Houston Apparel Co. to new heights.

Houston Apparel Co. was born out of our shared vision to enhance business brands through premium quality products and exceptional service. 

Jada and I, both driven by our entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to excellence, have created a company that specializes in solving custom apparel sourcing for corporations and SMBs alike.

Jada and I have created two distinct divisions to better serve our clients. Jada will be leading the Corporate Division, focusing on providing large-scale, custom apparel solutions for established businesses looking to enhance their brand identity. 

Meanwhile, I will spearhead the SMBs and Startups Division, offering personalized, flexible solutions for small and medium-sized businesses and new ventures, ensuring that every company can access premium quality products and services.

We're dedicated to offering top-notch products that reflect the quality and professionalism of our clients’ brands. Our client-focused approach ensures that every interaction is tailored to meet the specific needs of our customers, providing a seamless and satisfying experience.

Inspired by my children, founding Izzy James was a deeply rewarding and transformative experience, driven by my passion for fashion and a desire to make stylish, affordable clothing accessible to all. 

Named after my inspiration, Izzy James, the boutique quickly became known for its on-trend collections and fun, easy shopping experience.

Izzy James was more than just a retail venture; it was a launchpad for innovative ideas and a platform to connect with a diverse clientele. 

My goal was to curate a selection of fashionable, affordable clothing and accessories that made every customer feel confident and stylish. From the latest trends to timeless pieces, our collections catered to a wide range of tastes and preferences.

Running Izzy James involved wearing many hats—from sourcing products and managing inventory to overseeing marketing campaigns and ensuring exceptional customer service. I developed strategic marketing plans that leveraged social media, email newsletters, and community events to build a loyal customer base and increase brand visibility. Engaging with customers both online and in-person allowed me to create a personalized shopping experience that set Izzy James Boutique apart.

This experience taught me invaluable lessons in business management, customer engagement, and trend forecasting. It also honed my skills in strategic planning, creative problem-solving, and team leadership. 

The success and growth of Izzy James provided the confidence and foundation to embark on my next venture—Houston Apparel Co.

By building a strong brand with Izzy James Boutique, I was able to seamlessly transition into founding Houston Apparel Co., expanding my vision to include custom apparel solutions for both corporate clients and small businesses. The innovative approaches and customer-focused strategies developed at Izzy James Boutique continue to inform and inspire my work, driving me to create unique, high-quality products and exceptional shopping experiences.

I had the honor of promoting the school's mission to inspire and prepare young women for a lifelong pursuit of faith in God, intellectual vitality, social awareness, community building, and personal growth. Duchesne Academy offers a unique and enriching environment for young women.

In my role, I developed and executed strategic communication and marketing plans that effectively conveyed the essence and values of Duchesne Academy. By leveraging various platforms, including social media, the school website, newsletters, and promotional materials, I ensured that our message reached a broad audience of prospective families, current students, alumni, and the wider community.

I worked closely with the admissions team to highlight the school's strengths and attract new students who would thrive in our nurturing and academically rigorous environment. Organizing marketing communications collateral, I facilitated meaningful connections between the school and prospective families, demonstrating the unique benefits of a Duchesne education.

My efforts extended to enhancing the school's online presence, creating engaging content that showcased student achievements, faculty excellence, and the vibrant school culture. I collaborated with teachers, students, and staff to capture and share stories that reflected our commitment to intellectual growth, and social responsibility.

By managing internal and external communications, I ensured consistent and effective messaging that reinforced Duchesne Academy's mission and values. This role required a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, and strong interpersonal skills, allowing me to contribute to the school's reputation.

I had the privilege of working at a private Christian school where every child is valued as a unique and beloved child of God. 

Westlake Lutheran Academy is dedicated to providing a faith-based education that promotes both spiritual growth and academic excellence.

In my role, I spearheaded the admissions process, ensuring that each prospective family experienced a welcoming and informative introduction to our school. 

I was responsible for crafting and executing strategic marketing initiatives that highlighted the distinct advantages of a Westlake education. This involved managing the school's online presence, and developing promotional materials that conveyed our core values and academic strengths.

Our teachers, who view their roles as a true calling, integrate faith, morals, ethics, and service into the classroom, providing students with a comprehensive education that prepares them for all aspects of life. 

I was proud to support and promote this mission, showcasing how our exceptional educators and rigorous academic programs set us apart.

Westlake under the umbrella of the Lutheran Education Association of Houston (LEAH), carries forward a long-standing tradition of exemplary education. Westlake Lutheran Academy. continues to bring top-quality teachers and academic programs to the Katy/Richmond area. 

My efforts in admissions and marketing were crucial in maintaining and growing this legacy.

My role required a blend of strategic vision and personal interaction, as I worked closely with families, students, and staff to ensure that Westlake's values and educational excellence were effectively communicated. 

This experience deepened my appreciation for faith-based education and equipped me with valuable skills in leadership, marketing, and community engagement, all of which are essential for future endeavors.

Becoming an Independent Distributor was a transformative and empowering journey. 

Stella & Dot, renowned for its chic and versatile jewelry, clothing, and accessories, provided me with the perfect platform to merge my passion for fashion with my entrepreneurial spirit.

I built my own business from the ground up, leveraging Stella & Dot's extensive product line to connect with clients and create memorable shopping experiences. As an Independent Stylist, I organized and hosted Trunk Shows, where clients could explore and purchase our stylish collections in a relaxed, social setting.

Hosting Trunk Shows allowed me to showcase the latest trends and help clients discover pieces that perfectly suited their personal style. It was incredibly rewarding to see the joy and confidence our products brought to my clients. Through these events, I not only generated sales but also built lasting relationships and a loyal customer base.

Stella & Dot’s flexible business model enabled me to balance my entrepreneurial endeavors with my personal life. I set my own schedule, worked from home, and grew my business at my own pace. This flexibility was essential in allowing me to achieve a work-life balance while pursuing my passion for fashion.

The support and training provided by Stella & Dot were instrumental in my success. I received comprehensive training on sales techniques, product knowledge, and business management, which equipped me with the skills necessary to thrive as an Independent Distributor.

Being an Independent Distributor taught me invaluable lessons in sales, marketing, and customer service. These skills were crucial in building my business and will continue to benefit me in all future entrepreneurial endeavors.

Overall, my experience with Stella & Dot was incredibly fulfilling. It empowered me to take charge of my career, develop my business acumen, and bring joy to others through fashion.

MRE Consulting

Serving as a Contracts Administrator was a pivotal experience that set the stage for my entrepreneurial journey. 

MRE Consulting, a full-service professional services firm with deep expertise in industries like energy, engineering, construction, and finance, provided me with a rich environment to hone my skills.

In this role, I managed contract processes, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. I was responsible for reviewing contracts while maintaining accurate records. This critical work mitigated risks and secured favorable terms for our clients, many of which are Fortune 1000 companies.

MRE Consulting’s unique “One Firm” approach allowed me to collaborate with experts across Solutions, Services, and Staffing. I coordinated seamlessly with different departments, ensuring integrated and efficient contract management processes.

Working closely with clients, I delivered tailored solutions to complex technology and business challenges. Leveraging MRE Consulting’s innovative approach, I provided customized answers that addressed specific client needs and goals. This role required strong analytical and problem-solving skills, which I developed further by navigating intricate contractual issues and managing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

My tenure at MRE Consulting equipped me with a deep understanding of contract law, negotiation strategies, and risk management. These experiences were instrumental in shaping my strategic thinking and decision-making abilities.

Serving as a Public Affairs Assistant and later as a Public Affairs Associate at the United States Air Force, AETC Randolph AFB, was a pivotal experience that laid the foundation for my entrepreneurial journey. 

In these roles, I developed a deep understanding of strategic communication, media relations, and community engagement, all of which are essential skills for any successful business venture.

My time at AETC Randolph AFB taught me the importance of clear, accurate, and timely communication in building trust and fostering positive relationships. I learned how to craft compelling narratives, manage high-stakes situations with professionalism, and lead initiatives that effectively bridged the gap between the organization and the public. 

These experiences honed my ability to think strategically, act decisively, and inspire confidence—qualities that are indispensable for an entrepreneur.

Moreover, my work in public affairs allowed me to develop a strong network of connections, both within the military and in the broader media landscape.

It’s that weird moment where your heart is full of pride for your kids stepping into a new chapter, yet a little sad about the slower, carefree days slipping away. I find myself reflecting on the summer we just had: ice cream runs, traveling, lazy days in the sun, late night family movie/game nights, fun with friends, and camp adventures. It was a perfect blend of fun and relaxation. 

But here we are, on the brink of a new school year. My kids are heading into 8th and 4th grade, and I’m so excited to watch them grow, learn, and discover new passions. I genuinely can’t wait to see how much they develop this year. Yet I can’t help but feel a little sad to say goodbye to the slow mornings of sleeping in and enjoying the freedom of an open schedule.

While I love that school will bring back their friendships, routine, and structure, I also cherish the summer days and nights—the ones where we’d stay in our pajamas a little longer, talk about nothing in particular, and enjoy the day without a plan. I’ll miss the simple joy of unhurried days.

So tonight, I’m wishing every kiddo a fantastic first day and safe school year. May it be filled with new friends, exciting lessons, and that special spark that makes school so memorable. And for the parents out there. here’s to embracing the new chapter, cherishing the memories, and celebrating the growth. 

Because no matter how busy or nostalgic we feel, it’s all part of this beautiful journey of watching our children become their best selves. ❤️

Volleyball practices, athletic meetings, summer homework deadlines, and still trying to keep up with work. It’s like juggling flaming torches while riding a unicycle on a tightrope. Sound familiar?

Juggling a million things at once makes you wonder: is owning your own business a blessing or a curse?

On one hand, owning your own business means flexibility. You can work when and where you want. No boss looking over your shoulder. You set your schedule and prioritize what truly matters.

You get to craft your own path and build something that reflects your passion.

You control your workload, and that sense of ownership can be empowering.

But let’s be real. The flip side is that owning a business often blurs the lines between work and personal life. You’re never truly off. The phone rings at odd hours, emails come in during dinner, and your brain is constantly ticking.

The weight of responsibility can sometimes feel like a heavy backpack you carry everywhere.

So, what’s the real story?

Those rare instances when you realize how small we are in this vast world, yet how powerful hope and wonder can be. My 44th birthday brought one such moment to me. I finally saw the Grand Canyon for the first time. Not just a quick glance, but a full embrace of its grandeur. The colors, the depth, the silence that speaks volumes, it was more than just a view; it was an awakening.

Two days later, on the 4th of July, I stood overlooking that same canyon. Filled with hope and wonder, I felt something shift inside me. It wasn’t just about witnessing a natural marvel. It was about recognizing the potential of new beginnings and the importance of perspective. The canyon reminded me that even the most rugged, seemingly insurmountable terrains can be aweinspiring, and that hope often lies just beyond what we think we can handle.

In business and in life, aren’t we all navigating our own canyons? Those challenges that seem impossible to cross, the risks that make our knees shake. But what if we approached them with the same wonder and hope I felt standing at that overlook? What if, instead of seeing obstacles, we saw opportunities to grow, to learn, to evolve?

Here’s what I’ve learned from this experience and what I believe we all need to remember:

These ladies became my daily motivation, my accountability partners, and my biggest cheerleaders.
