One of our all-time most popular articles we’ve written for Forbes is this one, which was published in 2018. Why am I re-sharing it? Despite the fact that it was written several years ago, it’s still so relevant today. The precise platform features have changed (back then, it was all about IG Stories’ “Swipe Up” function for making a purchase) but the overall gist remains the same. 

At the time, we were advising people to stop thinking of influencer marketing as an awareness-only tactic. Nowadays, I’d offer similar advice but with a twist: stop thinking of influencer marketing as a single point anywhere along the sales funnel. Influencer marketing can impact every single aspect of the sales journey — it’s all about how you leverage it creatively and strategically. 

Whether it's building awareness, nurturing engagement, or driving sales, influencers have the power to connect with audiences in ways traditional marketing can't match. I see so many brands focused on driving sales when nobody knows or trusts them yet...

There's a process to this, and in order to drive long term sustainable growth - steps should not be skipped. It's like a right of passage to building real brand equity.

Influencers and Creators drive awareness, break trust barriers, and provide brands with a voice other than their own to echo their values and benefits.

They can, should, and are being used across the entire sales Funnel successfully by some of the world's best brands (and I'm grateful we're able to service some of them).
