I had a call with someone with a review site on Wednesday and told them to do nothing due to the imminent update that will be rolling out and that my time isn't needed.

The result: As of Friday, clicks have gone from 100 to 300 average clicks a day, and rising. 

It’s officially means that my name is now “the “SEOracle”

I will ask them if I can show the graph.

I will be happily surprised and glad to be wrong to see them being useful and not cause panic and unrest with clients.  

I mean, if it gives me actionable observations, saves me a job analysing it in as much depth as I do now.

I don’t know how, but somehow I still come across automated SEO audits, which use some fairly crap tools or a badly created/out of date checklist, ON A DAILY basis. 

The today was charged at £5,000.

£5,000!!!!

No wonder the rest of us have to work so hard to convince people we aren’t scammers. 

“You need up update the canonical links on your never indexed pagination pages which were redirected and you have 4 pages with no meta description.” 🤦‍♂️

I’m fully back at work this week. I’m still trying to find time to think. 

Because when you stop thinking, you stop taking action on the right things.

The magic comes in then actually taking the actions required.

From the chatter, it appears that Google are saying that they have heard the feedback about small publishers being surfaced with helpful content, created for users and not rankings. 

Let’s see.

I stupidly separated “productive” and “non productive” time allocation in my last agency. 

You would think this was for just billable and non billable, but you’d be wrong, I was way more anal than that. 

I stupidly categorised the following  non billable time as “non productive”:

- Admin
- Internal non client meetings
- Breaks

“Productive” non billable time was:

- Process improvements
- Catch all strategy meetings
- Client pitch contribution

I mean, I can see just how stupid that is now, but my god, I was an idiot.

Everything in a company is productive in some way, and if it isn’t, why would you do it?

Even the above work is productive, I just saw it the wrong way or should have found a way to better communicate its value.

No wonder people hated filling out their timesheets.
