1. Turned Gong’s Customer Call Data into Thought Leadership

Instead of hiding product data, we turned it into industry-wide thought leadership through Gong Labs. 

This transformed raw data into powerful marketing assets that resonated with the entire sales community.

Use your product data to become THE authority in your space.  


2. Repurposed Sales Enablement Content as Free “Edu-tainment”

I commonly swiped internal assets—talk tracks, objection handling guides, and pitch decks—and “templatized” them into public-facing content.

Our audience loved it because they could immediately use it in their own sales process.

Save your audience time, and they’ll always come back for more. 



3. Turned CAB Notes into Ad Copy

Customer Advisory Board meetings are an untapped goldmine. 

I turned handwritten notes into ad copy that hit pains, gains, and challenges—completely “unpolished.” 

Customers are the best copywriters. Use them.

Because content that converts isn’t just about showing expertise. 

It’s about making your audience *feel understood and motivated to act.*

That’s what drives real impact.

If I could give my younger self advice to be happier and more confident, it would be this:


Bet on yourself. Take risks. Enjoy the ride.
And don't be so hard on yourself.  

Back in February, I was in a bad place. 

I was struggling creatively, overwhelmed, and needed a "spark" to get my mojo back.

I also realized that most people I talked to felt the same. 


So, I launched a show. 

We traveled the country and asked the most talented creators, marketers, and entrepreneurs for advice. 

But we got much more.

These 12 episodes are, without a doubt, the best content of my career.  

And I had a damn good time making it.

If B2B marketers made Lego, you’d see two types of “Builders”:


⚫️ Group One writes the instruction manual first.

They:

	•	Plan meticulously
	•	Map out every single thing you’ll possibly need
	•	Document their plan step-by-step

Then, when they’re done and 100% confident, they start building.


⚪️ Group Two starts building immediately.

They:

	•	Think fast and jump in
	•	Figure out what’s needed as they go
	•	Adapt and adjust with each new piece

When they’re done building, then they write the instruction manual.


Neither approach is wrong—it depends on the challenge you’re solving. 

But the real magic happens when you blend the best of both worlds: 

Plan just enough to guide your creativity — but leave room for iteration and discovery.

So, which type of builder are you?


PS: This post was inspired by the new Nike x Lego collaboration announced last week, plus my love for Lego Master tv show.  *Below is a custom kit, not an official teaser.

I’ve talked to 40+ marketing leaders since going full-time with The Reeder — and noticed 5 reasons their content is failing:


❌ Messaging is product obsessed
→ When content is disguised as a pitch, readers mentally unsubscribe.


❌ Content lacks relevance
→ Topics don’t hit or create “right now!” problems, so they keep scrolling.


❌ Weak (or non-existent) call-to-action
→ Most content is missing a clear, compelling ‘conversion point’ to drive audience or pipeline growth.


❌ Missing distribution playbooks
→ There’s no amplification strategy, so their content collects more dust than eyeballs.


❌ No POV
→ Their information lacks stories, anecdotes, or unique perspectives to make it DIFFERENT.


Result: Content is forgettable, fails, and doesn’t help grow the business.

I can’t solve all this in one post. But I can give you free advice to get you started.

I was skeptical of AI tools at first, but this one changed my entire workflow.

Last year at Clari I unexpectedly adopted customer marketing. 

So this new stat from UserEvidence caught my eye: 

40% marketers said they create statistical customer evidence — BUT 

Only half of sellers said they share that content with buyers. 

Me: Yup, sounds about right 😩

So…

The big question is

Why isn’t that content making its way to buyers?

(Aka why don’t sellers USE it??)

I was an AE for years. 

Here's the truth: 

Sellers aren't sending it to buyers because it isn't persuasive enough.

Because it isn't *specific* enough. 

Sellers aren't going to share evidence from a customer that doesn't mirror their prospect — size, industry, use case, etc. 

That doesn't de-risk the decision for the buyer, so sellers would rather skip it versus sending something irrelevant and it backfire. 

Takeaway:

Stats are GREAT. But MIRRORING your prospect is better.

I’m getting better with AI, but I’m struggling to nail the tone.


I’ve tried the “imagine you’re Devin Reed” or “write in Devin Reed’s style” prompt.  

But then I sound like

🤖 A complete robot (aka DevGPT - not good)

‼ The Corporate Tone - where everything is so over-the-top exciting!! 

🤨 A strange mix of slang, B2B jargon, and emojis that no human that’s ever existed would say 🚀🚀

If you’ve cracked the code, I’m all ears. Seriously.

I'm working with TestBox, and one of their customers said something that caught my ear: 


"If I'm being honest, our demo environment f—ng sucks."

(This is a CRO at a company doing $250M ARR.) 

Demos are supposed to be a persuasive asset for sellers. 

So we created demo environments. 

But in reality, they  

- (Almost) never work 
- Don't tell the full product story
- Reps are stuck saying "imagine if..."

TLDR: They cause more confusion than confidence.
