It was 2006, and I had just graduated college with a degree in "Guitar Performance"...

1. People don’t care about your product, only their problems.

Sales reminder for the week: Discovery is for listening, not solutioning.

I’ve tried 100’s of “productivity hacks”, here are the 10 I return to most often:

1. 𝗦𝗲𝘁 𝘂𝗽 𝗗𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀

Constant notifications are the # 1 productivity killer.
(email, slack, phone, etc.)  

If you don’t do any others on this list - do this.

2. 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗕𝗿𝗮𝗶𝗻

Have a task, idea, or fleeting thought.
Immediately write it down. (I prefer digitally)

Open tasks, tend to occupy our short-term memory until they’re done. (Zeigarnik effect). 

Writing them down convinces us it’ll be taken care of later, allowing our brains to “let go”

3. 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗸𝗲𝘆𝗯𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗰𝘂𝘁𝘀
 
They’re called “shortcuts” for a reason.

4. 𝗣𝘂𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗵𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘆𝘀𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗲 

I only learned this one a few months ago. 
Screen time dropped 40% in the first week. 

3-clicks on the side button of your phone will toggle it back to color.

5. 𝗨𝘀𝗲 𝗮 𝗵𝗮𝗯𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗸𝗲𝗿 

Working towards something requires daily changes that compound over time. 

An HT will keep you accountable and allow you to visually track your progress.

6. 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗮 𝘁𝗶𝗱𝘆 “𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹” 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲. 

Digital clutter is just as bad as real-life clutter.

Take the time to organize yours for future use. Which brings me to my next one...

7. 𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺

Any work, but if you're stuck - Google PARA method for a simple one that is technology agnostic.

Learn it. 
Adopt it. 
It will change your relationship with email.

9. 𝗠𝗼𝘃𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝗱𝘆

Exercise improves your mood, energy, and concentration.

10. 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 “𝗵𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗻𝗼𝗼𝘇𝗲”

Sleep is awesome.

But continuously hitting “snooze” leads to fragmented sleep, which can affect the rest of your day. 

𝘗𝘳𝘰-𝘵𝘪𝘱: 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘸 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘩𝘰𝘯𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘳𝘰𝘴𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘮 𝘣𝘦𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘣𝘦𝘥. 𝘛𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰 𝘨𝘦𝘵 𝘶𝘱 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘯 𝘰𝘧𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘭𝘢𝘳𝘮. 𝘖𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶’𝘳𝘦 𝘶𝘱 - 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘺 𝘶𝘱.

Time blocking for sellers 101:

Here are 4 steps to get more done in 1 hr than most do in 8:

1. Create Calendar Categories 

Color code them:

ex:

→ Internal meetings
→ Client meetings
→ Personal
→ Focus

You first need to understand:

→ Where you're spending your time
→ How are you spending it
→ What gives you energy
→ What drains you

Do this for 2-4 weeks.

2. Replicate the “Optimal” week

Now you have data on what “good” feels like.

Create recurring blocks to replicate:

Example:

Focus time:

8-830am
12-1230pm
5-530pm

Client meetings:

830-10
2-4pm
etc., etc.

Things will change and you’ll have to flex. 

But you've set the framework for the "optimal" week.

3. Focus during Focus Time

→ Turn off notifications
→ Shut down slack
→ pause email

Eliminate the distractions.

Multi-tasking is like eating soup with a fork. 

Technically possible, but not very effective.

4. Weekly review

Review the upcoming week.

Is it balanced?

Do you need to:

→ say “no” to a meeting
→ reschedule a call
→ add more FT

Own your calendar.
Own the outcomes.
