Confession: Most people don’t know where I started.

I grew up in a third world. Not exactly a place known for privilege.

I remember when the first mobile phone came out. My father got the Nokia 3310.
That brick of a phone with Snake game? Yeah, that was the dream back then.

But life wasn’t a lineup of new gadgets and easy wins.
I was raised playing rough street games, exploring places most wouldn’t dare.
Not because I was fearless because I was curious.

I wasn’t the kid with straight A’s.
Far from it.
Honestly, I was below average in school.
But I read everything that wasn’t in the syllabus.
I wanted to do what most were afraid of.
To see what was hidden.
To walk where others wouldn’t.

Born in a place surrounded by mountains, trekking wasn’t just a hobby, it was life.
I lived with my grandmother far away from my parents.
I lost her last year.
I didn’t always appreciate her toughness, but I get it now.
She wanted me to be unbreakable.
Turns out, she was right.

We moved to another state.
Another city.
New people.
New language.
I learned it.
I now speak five languages.

But English?
That was new.
I picked it up from novels and self-help books.
Physics could wait, I was too busy learning how the world actually works.

We lived in a rooftop flat.
One room.
No air conditioning.
Summer felt like hell, but to me, it was home.
Some days, we didn’t have the food we wanted.
But my parents?
They gave everything.
My father worked in blistering sun, freezing winters, didn’t matter.
Freelancing, grinding, he didn’t quit.

I still remember those days.
Not because I want sympathy.
But because that journey is part of me.
It’s why I show up daily.
It’s why I don’t flinch when things get hard.

Everyone’s got their own journey.
Mine was tough, but I know others who had it worse.
Luxury isn’t the goal, building is.

Moral:
Don’t be afraid to share where you came from.
Before you think about quitting, remember where, how, and why you started.

That’s the difference.
That’s what keeps you going when it all falls apart.

People think working from your laptop is some kind of luxury.

Like I’m just swanning around in my PJs, sipping lattes, and occasionally tapping out a few emails.
Right… if "luxury" means staring at a screen until your eyes are redder than Dracula on a bad night.

But that’s the bit no one sees, isn’t it?
The grind of staying up for 42 hours.
The endless scroll of Sales Navigator until your brain’s fried.
The fact that “work-life balance” is just something people say to sound sane.

And then there’s the commentary...
“Oh, you work from your room? How cute.”
Cute? Mate, my room’s a warzone. There’s 14 tabs open, 3 half-drunk coffees, and a to-do list that looks like it’s been dragged through hell.

But you know what?
I let them talk.
That’s their job.
Mine’s to prove them wrong.

Right now, I’m building out LinkedIn & Sales Navigator training for a marketing team.
Gonna walk the young guns and the “senior youngs” through it step by step.

My father turned 66 today...

Mixed feelings.

Happy, because he’s here.
Sad, because time moves fast and doesn’t ask permission.

I’ve been thinking about how much of me was shaped by him
Not with motivational speeches.
But with daily, relentless training in how to move through life.

He didn’t raise me softly.
He trained me like a son who needed to survive, win, and keep going when things got ugly.
Not in theory, in practice.

When I was younger, the age gap between us felt wide.
But over time, I realized something:
That distance gave me perspective.

He wasn’t trying to be my “friend.”
He was preparing me to walk through the fire alone when he’s not around.

Still
We’ve got a bond people rarely understand.

We once entered a room together, shaking hands, laughing...
And someone asked, “Are you two old friends?”
He’s 60s, sharp as ever, and still looks like he could outwalk most 40-year-olds...

But appearances aside, here’s the point....

I asked him today:
“What should I remember from your 66 years of living?”

He didn’t hesitate.

First:
"If you’re trying and failing, and everyone says it’s not possible, 
that’s exactly when you double down and make it happen."
Not “try harder.”
Not “stay positive.”
Just decide that it gets done, because it has to.

Second:
"Earn what you want. But don’t confuse income with security."
"Invest like winter is coming. Because one day, it will."
Simple, brutal financial sense.
You won’t find it romanticized in personal finance books.

These two things are now imprinted in my mind:

- You don’t stop when it gets hard. You lock in harder.
- Money is only power if it’s protected. Not just earned.

I’ve read a lot.
I’ve worked with clients, run campaigns, and generated results.
But none of it works without the foundation someone like him built into me early on.

And that’s what a lot of people don’t understand about personal growth.
You don’t always need more strategy.
Sometimes, you need a single person who teaches you to think differently.

Books teach concepts.
Experience teaches resilience.

I’m fortunate I have both. But I know not everyone does.

So I’ll leave it with this...

If you had one person who trained your mindset early, honor them.

And if you didn’t...
Maybe it’s time to become that person for yourself. Or someone else...

90% of outbound fails, not because of the message, but the mindset!

Actually... most people think outbound is a 1-day sprint.
(But it’s a long-distance game with rules most ignore)

Here’s what I tell every SDR, founder, or B2B rep stuck in the “no reply” zone:

If your outbound looks like this:

❌ Profile half-baked
❌ First message = sales pitch
❌ Follow-ups = desperate or robotic
❌ Expecting a “yes” in 1 shot

Then no wonder you're ghosted.

Let’s fix it. Step by step.

Day 1 → Fix your positioning
• Who do you help? (Get ultra-specific)
• Why should they care? (Be clear, not clever)
• What’s the outcome? (Not the feature)

Day 2 → Build a profile that sells
• Banner: what problem do you solve?
• Headline: not job title, value title
• About: break it into chunks, use proof

Day 3 → Rethink your DM strategy
• Message 1 = awareness
• Message 2 = light context
• Message 3 = social proof
• Message 4–12 = value, not pressure
(Yes, follow-ups 5–12 matter more than 1–3)

Day 4 → Treat prospects like you’d want to be treated
• Would you reply to your own message?
• Are you adding value or just chasing numbers?
• Would you buy after 1 cold DM? (Didn’t think so)

Whatever stage you're in, remember:
• Outbound works, but only with patience
• You’re not just selling, you’re earning trust
• Structure > spray and pray

Who knows, maybe you’ll even start enjoying follow-ups.
There is no one-size-fits-all script.
(This is just what I'd recommend)
But there are proven steps you can't miss!

This was my reality doing outbound a few years back.

𝗜𝗳 𝗜 𝗺𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝟭𝟬𝟬 𝗰𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘀 𝗮 𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘂𝘀𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝘄𝗲𝗻𝘁:

20 didn’t pick up
30 told me to never call again (some included family curses)
20 gave me the ol’ “decision maker is out of town” excuse
15 said they’d already had 50+ calls that day
10 claimed they’re “all set”
3 fake-listened and said “not interested”
2 said “call me in two days” (and ghosted me like a bad Tinder date)

So yeah, outbound can be brutal.

But guess what?
We crushed it.

➝ 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘀? Smashed.
➝ 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀? Same day.
➝ 𝗖𝗥𝗠? lol, it was sticky notes on Windows XP until someone discovered Salesforce.

𝗠𝘆 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻’𝘁 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗦𝗗𝗥𝘀.

𝗜 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗪𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝘀 - because I trained my team to stop treating calls like transactions and start treating them like conversations.

Here’s what I learned about outbound that most people still get dead wrong (especially on LinkedIn):

𝟭. 𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝗮𝗰𝘁 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝘆
If you feel like you’re begging for info, your prospect will smell it.
Just collect the info naturally like it’s part of the flow.

➝ Stop labeling it.
➝ Stop announcing it.
➝ Just glide.

𝟮. 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗽 𝗱𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗗𝗠𝘀
You wouldn’t walk up to someone and shove a brochure in their face.
So don’t send your full offer and a Calendly link in the first message.

It screams “I’m lazy and don’t care about you.”

𝟯. 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗱𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝗺𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲
Before you connect, read.
Like actually read the bio, the content, the vibe.

➝ Find the hook.
➝ No one owes you attention, you gotta earn it.

𝟰. 𝗞𝗲𝗲𝗽 𝗶𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗽𝗶𝗱 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲
Your DM should read like a text from a smart friend, not a marketing intern.

➝ short,
➝ sharp,
➝ respectful.

that’s it.

𝟱. 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 > 𝗜𝗻𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 (𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗻𝗲𝘀)
➝ Inbound? You wait.
➝ Outbound? You create.
➝ Inbound is like fishing.
➝ Outbound is like hunting with a map and a plan.

𝗜 𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝘁 𝗮 𝟵𝟬-𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗟𝗶𝗻𝗸𝗲𝗱𝗜𝗻 𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝘀 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝗰𝗸𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸.

It’s messy, human, and actually works (because it’s based on real convos, not some recycled cold email template from 2016).

Stop bartering comments for credibility.

I used to think sales psychology was just a fancy way of saying “manipulate people with urgency and a smile.”

Turns out… it’s mostly just being human with a decent sense of timing.

Let me explain 👇

When I started posting on here, I didn’t have a 12-step funnel.
I had a phone that overheated mid-DM and a hunch that if I spoke to people like actual humans, they’d respond.

Spoiler: they did.

In 9 months, I saw a good increase in my following.
And 90% of sales came from conversations, not clever funnels.

Here’s what I learned about sales psych (and why being a robot doesn’t work):

1. People don’t want your features. They want their problem gone.
Stop pitching like you’re reading a tech spec sheet.

Tell a story that starts with them, not your app, your program, or your “unique process”.

I once closed a $5K client with a story about a bacon sandwich. (on this happened on my 12th cold call to that guy who was damn consistent saying no)
Why? Because it made them feel understood. (And hungry.)

2. Scarcity works… but only if it’s true.
“Limited spots” only works if you’re not secretly booking everyone with a PayPal account.
Be real. Say,

“I take on 3 clients/month so I don’t turn into a zombie. 2 spots left.”
That hits different.

3. Don’t give people 17 ways to buy.
It’s not Nando’s.
Too many options = analysis paralysis.
I lost 3 deals last year because I kept sending full proposal decks when a simple voice note would’ve done the job.

Now?
One link. One offer. Less faff.

4. Show your thing in action.
No one believes the pitch. They believe proof.
Record a Loom.
Drop a screenshot.
Say:

“Here’s what someone said 3 days after using my offer.”
Simple, but 🔥.

5. FOMO still works. Just don’t be a twat about it.
“Only 48 hours left!”
Cool. But if your sales page has said that since January, we all know it’s bollocks.

Use real urgency.
Real deadlines.
Real consequences of inaction.
(“Keep scrolling and you’ll still be winging your pipeline in Q3.”)

Bonus tip?
Social proof is your best mate.
No need to name-drop Forbes unless they actually wrote about you.
But screenshots of messages, buyer comments, and “this actually worked” posts?
Gold dust.

Does hashtag follower counts still matter?

But I learned the hard way that it’s not the same as real leads.

5. Forgetting to ask for conversations or calls.

Here’s what I do now instead:

1. I post content only my ideal client cares about.
2. I comment with a clear reason to connect.
3. I check and respond to DMs daily.
4. I write posts that answer real questions.
5. I always invite readers to reach out or book a call.

Since shifting this,
I’ve seen more calls booked and faster client wins.

If I had to restart my LinkedIn journey from scratch…

I’d do it completely differently.
Not because I failed the first time…
But because I understand the game now.

Most people think LinkedIn is an app like others.
It’s not.
It’s a stage.
And you’ve got the mic, whether you use it or not.

Here’s exactly how I’d rebuild from Day 1:

→ 1. PROFILE: The Foundation
Before I even THINK about connecting or posting, I’d build a bulletproof profile.

Banner image that screams credibility, not just a skyline or generic gradient.

Headline that’s bold, specific, and makes people curious.
(Not “Helping businesses grow”... more like “Turning LinkedIn profiles into client-magnets.”)

About section? Story-driven. Not corporate fluff. Real. Relatable. Results-focused.

Read that again.
The average profile is scanned in 6 seconds. If you don’t hook them, you lose them.

→ 2. CONTENT: Consistency Over Perfection
I’d write like I talk.
No corporate speak. No marketing jargon.
Just raw stories, quick wins, and lessons I’d share over a coffee.

Here’s the schedule I’d follow:

Monday: Bold opinion or myth-busting post.

Wednesday: Story of a win, failure, or lesson learned.

Friday: Tactical step-by-step. Show people HOW, not just what.

The goal?
To be top of mind.
Because if you’re not visible, you’re forgettable.

→ 3. NETWORK: Quality > Quantity
I’d build slow and intentional.
Connect with decision-makers, founders, and industry creators.
Not random “open networkers” or bots.

And I’d actually TALK to them.
Not just a “Thanks for connecting!”
But a real conversation starter.

Example: “Saw you’re scaling a team, how are you handling the LinkedIn outreach side? Happy to share what’s worked for me.”

Big difference.

→ 4. ENGAGEMENT: Stop Being a Ghost
Most people post and pray.
I’d do the opposite.
I’d comment with intent.
5-10 solid comments a day on big creators and rising voices.
Why?
Because eyeballs follow value.
And when your name keeps popping up with something smart to say, people notice.

→ 5. OFFER: Build It Publicly
I wouldn’t just sit behind the curtain and hope people find me.
I’d build my offer in public.
Ask questions. Share drafts. Get feedback.
When people feel like they’re part of your journey, they root for your success.

To put it simply:
I wouldn’t just build a LinkedIn profile…
I’d build a LinkedIn presence.

One that actually turns connections into conversations… and conversations into clients.

So here’s your punch in the face (you’re welcome):

1. Posting is not prospecting.
It’s theatre. Fun, sure but don’t confuse applause for income.

2. Conversations > content.
You’re not Netflix. No one’s here just to watch.

3. If you don’t speak up, you stay broke but mysterious.
And not in the cool James Bond way. Just unemployed.

4. Most people are one message away from a real lead.
But they’re too busy checking likes.

5. You don’t need a funnel. You need a chat.
That’s the real growth hack.

What’s worked for me?

→ Showing up. Imperfectly. Daily.
→ Tracking convos (nothing fancy - Google Sheets and vibes)
→ Making it ridiculously easy for people to talk to me

So yeah…
My DMs are open.
You don’t have to comment “I need food.”
Just say hi. Ask a question. Be nosy.

I’ll put the kettle on.

Now tell me this:
When’s the last time you had an actual sales conversation, not just a comment section hype sesh?

Most LinkedIn content gets comments.
But not clients.

Why?
Because most creators are chasing engagement.
Not solving problems.

If your goal is leads, not likes
Stop writing for the algorithm.
Start writing for your ICP.

Here’s where most go wrong:

Posting for peers, not prospects
– Your content sounds smart…
– But your buyer doesn’t care.
– Buyers don’t want insight. They want help.

No clear problem → No reason to buy
– Vague lessons, general ideas
– “Here’s what I learned this year” isn’t a CTA
– Specific problem = specific buyer attention

Too much fluff, zero strategy
– Surface-level tips
– No system, no depth
– You’re liked, but not trusted

Here’s a simple structure that converts:

→ Identify a pain
– “Struggling to book calls even after posting daily?”
– “Profile views up, replies down?”

→ Call out why it’s happening
– Buyer doesn’t see themselves in your content
– You’re not speaking their language

→ Offer a tangible fix
– DMs that convert and build a real connection, profile format, posting formula
– Make it actionable and short
– Make them say: “This is exactly what I needed”

→ End with relevance
– Ask: “Facing this too?”
– Or: “This is what worked for me. Try it.”

Tactical > Inspirational.

Buyers don’t comment.
They DM silently when your post hits the right nerve.

Fix the structure, not the style.
Get clients, not claps.
