I coach CEOs on media presence. So you’d think I’d always feel polished, right? Nope. Even now, I’m watching this video and thinking: That could be sharper. I'm moving too much. I should’ve paused there. But here’s what I’ve learned (and remind my clients of constantly): You don’t build trust by being flawless. You build it by showing up again and again — a little better each time. Progress over perfection. Still the most annoying saying. Still the most accurate one I know.

I never ask clients to “speak better.” I ask them to do something way harder: Watch themselves on camera. → Full video. → No edits. → No skipping. First: no sound. Just watch your body language. Then: audio only. Last: full video. Then they write down: One thing they liked One thing to improve One thing they wish they’d said (or not said) Because the goal isn’t to sound better, it’s sounding clearer. Do they hate me for it? Sometimes? Most of the time? Are they way stronger communicators now? You BETCHA!
